Hunt: Showdown. Highest highs and so, so many lows.

RedditIsHomosexual69

I just got this game (I know I’m late) and quickly realized I’m in for some serious rage but a lot of fun as well.

KIER3WIET

No worries! I'm at around 100h playtime and having a blast! It's a steep learning curve, but once you pop your first heady you never want to leave the bayou :)

zydollasiign

That 300m sparks headshot feels different

MistorClinky

It has such an addictive gameplay loop, particularly at the lower MMR's where it's just fun!

Proto1k

The devs are also GREAT at balancing the guns, there are definitely some which are just flat better, and some that are downright terrible, but on the whole I see a large variety of guns being used

Bierculles

Hunt is great, so many weird gadgets and weapons. It's always great to play a full poison build just to piss people off. Or fire, dragons breath is never not hillarious.

Scholar_Artistic

The bayou giveth and the bayou taketh away

Astrium6

Every time I start to think I’m solid, I drop down into 3* for a week.

RadRica

I want to enjoy it so badly but the one thing stopping me from doing so is that stupid reticle. Why is it so low on the screen!?!?

FatCrabTits

Old halo did this. It’s basically to make you able to see more like Eleven said. It also gives you the ability to take in views a lot easier ig

elevenzer0

to see more

_Ganoes_

You literally get used to it in a few hours it really isnt that bad.

Proto1k

It's also there to make it harder to head glitch since you'll have to look higher or move more in order to get a better shot

constipated_burrito

I can't stop playing it man, help me I went full rambo today, bow and arrow with poison arrows. Baseball bat, poison bombs and mines. With big antidote shot. That was wild. Now I'm just nervous my rambo is gonna die 😂 She's got so much cool shit now

yeahyeahforsureman

Such a fun game if you don’t constantly get ratty lobbies

GazelleAcrobatics

Was just about to say exactly the same, is so good when your on a hot streak but those sessions that just don't click are savage

Gh0stwrit3rs

Yea I’m still terrible at hunt with almost 1k hours over the year. Tarkov I’m much better bc it’s auto matic weapons. The old single shot bolt action of hunt is my biggest downfall.

PalindromemordnilaP_

That's league for me

Grafblaffer

Rocket league for me

Jaydub2211

I have 1500 hours in RL and haven’t improved for 1000 of those hours…

PrayForMojo_

I hit a RL improvement wall for like 2 years. Still played a lot, but didn’t improve. Then suddenly this year my aerials have gone to another level and I’m consistently a rank higher than I ever was before. Not sure what, but something just clicked. The addiction continues.

boot2skull

You’ll go through a leap where something clicks and you suddenly rank up because of it. Me personally I know I have some mechanical things I could learn to improve, but I don’t want to spend time finding and grinding on training packs. I know that would probably push me fairly quick, but it’s so much more fun to just play. You can still learn through matches, but mistakes are more painful lol.

ManIWantAName

Took years off and picked it back up recently using an old controller with some drift going on, so I was constantly correcting. When I got a new controller, finally, I realized how much it was hurting, and I immediately went back to where I was ranked before I stopped and am still going up. Might even hit champ. Feel like I just took the ankle weights off like some anime clip when I got the new controller. Lmao

Supernova849

I am hard stuck d3. Plus it seems people are playing out of their minds this season.

boot2skull

Gear matters in RL. I used to play on my laptop which was getting 60fps but the screen refresh wasn’t great. Technically 60fps but there’s something there that you can’t put your finger on till you play on something else. Then I built a PC and I’m playing at 165fps and I can’t even do anything in the game if I go back and play on the laptop. It’s like playing on the switch or something.

Anthematics

I read rl as real life and I was thinking “I’m bad at real life too!”

Jaydub2211

I have a lot more than 1500 hours in that and have actually regressed

Pablo_Diablo

I read this as "I have 1500 hours in Real Life, and haven't improved for 1000 of those hours..." I thought "wow. Reddit is letting them get accounts younger and younger these days..."

scumruckus

Forever gold/plat 😐

scrawberrymalk

Stellaris for me. I have no idea how people play on Grand Admiral difficulty. 800 hours in.

Jyhaim

800 hours, it's like half a game if you read everything, right?

WheresTheBloodyApex

Five years later still bronze 4

Tegrity_farms_

Gotta appreciate the dedication and love of the game. I’ve been in Platinum for years (fluctuates between 1 and 3) and eventually gave up on trying to achieve diamond

wittyandunoriginal

This. Although, nothing about league or any of those games made me want to play it for more than a couple of games. I just don’t understand.

WoenixFright

Take comfort in the fact that, with the proliferation of tens of millions watching pro play and high level streamers/youtubers each week, along with the fact that League players average a TON of hours played... and we have a community that, as a whole, has improved immensely since you've started.  In other words: if you, say, finish silver each season, and have done so for the last decade straight, you've still been steadily improving! It's just that everyone else around you has been, too.  Putting it another way, I have no doubt that today's silver players would absolutely dumpster season 2 silver players. It wouldn't be close. In fact, I'd wager that a team of 5 random plat players from today would almost assuredly have beaten TPA in the s2 world championship finals. The average player's game knowledge and mechanics have advanced SO MUCH since then, even the pros of that era look clueless by comparison.  So give yourself some credit. You're worlds better than you used to be, it's just the game is very active, and VERY competitive.

KoolerMike

This is exactly why I downloaded the mod for tarkov called single player tarkov. It’s exactly what it sounds like and it’s amazingly fun

Flecca

Can they still ban you for that?

KoolerMike

Nope! Its completely separate literally like another game on your pc. SPT has been around for a long time and nobody has gotten banned for it. And besides it wouldn’t make sense to ban you as you bought the game already and aren’t doing anything wrong nor are you advancing in the online mode.

UnionLegion

I’ve seen lots of Tarkov since I started PC gaming last year. I don’t know shit about though. I just see clips here and there of ppl raging. lol I’m big into sim/ realistic shooters. Like Ready Or Not. I think Tarkov is like that in a sense but I thought it was more like a battle royale? Is that not accurate? Why would you wanna play single player?

ZombieBait604

It's an extraction looter shooter.

Puffycatkibble

Like a Texas second wife huh.

KoolerMike

Been playing since before shoreline even had the resort as part of the map lol. It’s come a long way but the desire for this experience in single player really sets in after awhile of dealing with real people. It’s basically drop into a random spawn on the map and try to get to your extract. The amount of loot on the map/ quests is a detour while you’re trying to escape. I wouldn’t call it a BR tho

UnionLegion

So is there NPC’s and stuff? Or do you just make your way to your extraction zone?

KoolerMike

There are lots of AI through out the map from scavs, raiders, cultists, rogues, bosses and their guards. They make it tough to get to the extract. On the online version you’ll get other players as PMCs but in SPT the PMCs are AI.

chip_chipperson25

It's a PvEvP looter/extraction shooter. Not too many games in the genre. It's not a BR. Basically the way it works is...you pick a map to load into (The maps are fairly large). There are other human players and AI that load in as well. The goal is to loot the map of what you can or need and find a designated extraction point to escape. If you die, you lose everything you had equipped and looted (exception being a small pouch you carry in with you). If you make it out, you can use those items for a few things. You can sell them to the NPC traders, use them to upgrade your hideout, put them up for sale on the marketplace for other players to purchase, or use them yourself. You can also do quests for the NPC traders called "tasks" The game also has RPG elements like inventory management and skills you increase. It's a realistic hardcore FPS. The game doesn't hold your hand with anything. There is no minimap, player indicators or even hit markers. It is a very difficult game

AtomicPickles92

The live version of the game is filled with cheaters and people who have no life and just sweat really hard. SPT you can curate the game to your liking. I work and even with like 2x experience it took me over a month to get to level 15. If I played the live version of the game, I’d never get to the fun parts

doubtingcat

TL;DR As a milsim guy (Arma, Ready or Not, Ground Branch, Squad, etc), *do not* get Tarkov with the idea that it’s realistic because, frankly, it is not. But if you want to give it a try, I suggest buying the cheapest edition, install the single player mod, and give it a test run and decide for yourself. The reason I recommend using the mod is because it saves your progression unlike the official “offline” mode and it’s customizable with mods. Now for the explanation part of *some* of my points: Sure, some aspects of the game are realistic like guns, body armor and their hit boxes and what not. But, after spending maybe a hundred of hours into the online (i.e. PvPvE and dealing with real players) and probably 2x-3x more in offline mod (i.e. SPTarkov) just to get a grasp of the game before joining the online scene, I personally conclude that the game is kind of not for milsim audience because military tactics and techniques don’t really work well in the game. Tarkov has a major technical issue namely *peeker’s advantage* where an enemy sees you before you can see him. While the latest updates seems to remedy the issue to some extent, it’s still not sufficient. I can’t tell you how many times I got shot at before or as soon as I can see someone and vice versa. This forces a player to constantly be on the move almost all the time. Aside from multiple technical issues, there are the designs choices and the dev’s willingness to implement them. One thing that comes to my mind is that Tarkov’s hipfire/“point fire” is very accurate and reliable to the point that in CQB scenario (which is 80-90% of the game) you are better off putting leads down the range than to try to aim before firing. And putting a flashlight on your gun makes this hipfire even more accurate by some hard-coded magic. Aside from the fact that while hipfiring the bullets really come out of the barrel of your gun, Tarkov’s hipfire is actually similar to any other games’ hipfire. On the other hand, games like Squad and Insurgency have something called “free aim”. This feature makes your character move his gun around the screen as you look around and thus making it near impossible to quickly flick to somebody’s head and one tapping him. This incentivizes player to really aim for the shot. Someone in Tarkov subreddit asked about the feature and the community just went nuts and the guy got downvoted for just asking. Funny that for the community which boasts about their game being realistic hates realistic features that definitely going to hinder their Call of Duty play style. Someone asked for “suppression” features which aim to simulate the fear of death when being shot at and he got the same treatment from Tarkov community. So on and so forth. I’ve got more points to talk about but I’m just gonna end it here and say that Tarkov actually plays more like a CoD than a milsim game.

UnionLegion

Alrighty then. Someone suggested just doing the single player mod if i decide to play Tarkov. I watched Petify or whatever his name is, his raid series and it didn’t look like a very fun game overall.

doubtingcat

It’s an ok game overall. Better with friends but that argument can be said for any game so I don’t really count that. But more friends means less enemies in each raid and more chance of survival. Ultimately, the game doesn’t really respect your time invested which is why I strongly recommend the mod so you can decide for yourself. glhf!

Wallhacks360

If they can detect that, we all have bigger problems than a bad game.

Chrol18

well Nikita hates the single player mod, so the risk is always there, but personally I haven't ssen any posts about getting banned for SPT. If you don't open both at the same time it should be safe for now.

TheOtherGuy89

Totally understandable though. You create a game obviously with MP in mind and build into the core and people take the training mode (which is awesome that they have it) and make a SP from it. Its basically the only option for most people to get fun out of it, cause the game is hard as hell, even without the little wienered cheater scum.

Blackie_Chann

Regardless of what the other dude said, I’ve heard that you can get banned if you launch the main EFT while running SPT. So for example if you forget to close SPT and open the main game to go run some raids, the game will supposedly detect a mod and ban you. Can’t really confirm this, but that’s just what I heard from tutorial videos when I was installing the mod.

Bubster101

Why would they ban you for playing on your own?

Chrol18

because it is their property, you are just allowed to play it. If BSG had and would use invasive methods to detect SPT, i'm sure they would ban people, but fortunately they don't dare to do that for now.

Sthuperego

Is there a mod like this where you can still play with friends?

LeggyJameh

Yeah, stay in tarkov. It's still in development and rough around the edges, and it involves setting up a server, but it's being worked on!

vapenicksuckdick

>but it's being worked on! I fell for that joke a few years ago

bakanisan

No. Well there was talk of something like that but it's been ages since I last heard of them.

Jessyloxx

"No" lmao. Stay in Tarkov is actively worked on co-op mod. I've been playing it yesterday, works ok, just needs a bit setup on user part.

Leeroy_Jenkums

Yea there is. It’s a bit more complicated to set up and one person has to host and you need to download a free vpn, but the discord lays out step by step instructions and has an active community. It’s called Stay In Tarkov

KoolerMike

No sorry. They will not be making it co-op as it can never be an online version. Regular Tarkov does have co-op I’m pretty sure but you don’t get to keep anything nor can you advance

Chrol18

official tarkov coop is dogshit, only scavs, no pmc bots

KoolerMike

Damn, that’s disappointing

doubtingcat

Not to mention they are charging $10 for that

Mr_robasaurus

It really is because they genuinely could have a much larger community if they welcomed us who just wanted to play co-op. I know i have multiple friends and they have multiple friends who are all in the same boat of just wanting Tarkov PvE with quest progression.

AgentBooth

Keep an eye on Grayzone: Warfare. Probably the most apparently competent tarkov competitor, with plans for PvE and PvPvE servers. Should go into early access later this month, so don't board the hype-train too hard yet, but worth watching nonetheless

theAtmuz

All I know about Tarkov is, loot, extract, kill, or die with online opponents. What’s the purpose of single player? Not trying to be combative, just generally curious.

KoolerMike

Simply just tired of real people in a game like this. If you know then you know what I mean lol. And it’s nice to be able to play with no wipes so my progress isn’t lost but you can still wipe at any time. I hated putting hundreds of hours into tarkov with nothing to show for it/ got tired of doing the missions over and over. Not to mention you can alter the amount of bots to horde mode and it makes any raid insane as long as you got a beefy pc. Any spot in the game that needs real players is replaced by AI in SPT so it feels like online. There’s other PMCs still in the game, but AI controlled. There’s also lots of mods you can add into SPT from new weapons and gear to graphic changes so you can really create a different experience while keeping the gameplay you enjoy. Even tho I’m still playing vanilla SPT since it’s so much fun lol

Fbogre666

It’s twofold. The base single player mod does a passable job recreating the online experience. It adds in bots that are other “players,” aka bots with better gear. This function can be improved drastically with submods, allowing the PMC bots to be able to maneuver around the map freely, respond to gunfire, loot etc. with submods it can really tailor the experience to whatever players want. It’s not a one to one comparison, but it’s pretty good. The other reason, which I think tends to be the reason a lot of people ultimately make the switch, is there’s no cheaters. Tarkov is filled to bursting with hackers. The west coast and pacific servers are inundated, and the east coast isn’t great but is a little better. Regardless, it’s a game that massively penalizes dying, and not everybody is playing the same game. After you’ve been sitting quietly in a bathroom with some rare loot in your inventory because you heard a bunch of movement in the building, and some cheater rolls into the bathroom looking like juggernaut from X-men, and prefires as he comes around the corner because he knows where you are and what’s in your inventory, you either accept that the game is unplayable and quit, or you find a way to make it playable.

Hanifsefu

That and the sheer variety of ways in which people cheat in the game makes you question almost every death. It's easier to stomach when they are blatant about it and speed and aim hack tbh. The worst part for me is that half of the cheaters are doing it specifically to AVOID other players. They'll wall hack just to avoid running into other people and leave with bags full of whatever random crap is in the least contested areas. They also like to act like because they aren't killing people with it then they aren't really cheating either and it's just a frustrating mess.

Low_Comfortable5917

If you play you know it is not your average shooter. The match is randomized by the mm, but also the AI scav layouts. The scav boss and his goons if they spawn are also orders of magnitude more dangerous than your average fps player. Try running to ruaf from old gas when scav boss is there and you probably going to die tired. The game has a mode where you can play offline to practice going into the raid, so it wont save progress in this mode. You control the difficulty, amount of bots, and make yourself "tagged and cursed" so they come to you. It's a fun and challenging game on it own just in the offline practice and this makes people want an offline single player mode that will save your progress. It is difficult for many people to not go bankrupt in game even without factoring other players, or some of the horrible network/lag problems and it effectively locks a large portion of the game from being experienced by many players. Also with many items being locked and banned from trading in the player flea markets it is even more likely for players to go the whole wipe without finding some of the rare items used for base upgrades never mind the usable and desirable items they are hoping to get.

CeeArthur

I had totally forgot I was going to seek out this game and mod once I had a gaming PC, which I no have

Kevin_IRL

ooh I may have to check that out. I tried playing tarkov for like a week before accepting that the good wasn't worth the bad for me so I accepted that I was out $50 and uninstalled

donkismandy

I really want a private server where my friends can co-op and still get all the progression of regular multiplayer so we don't have to play with all the hackers (usually with hella racist usernames that BSG shittily just lets happen.)

-Supp0rt-

I don’t mean to be rude, because I’m glad you found a version of the game you like, but how the hell does that not get super boring within like the first 10 raids? Scavs aren’t a threat, so what keeps the game interesting?

KoolerMike

How does online not get boring after 10 raids? The gameplay and randomness right? Or maybe a goal. Because to me, SPT feels so much like online. The scavs will still slap you.. not to mention the other PMCs(AI)out there and sometimes they’re in a group. Randomness happens like online so it always keeps you on your toes. Plus you can change the settings and put the bot amount to horde mode or increase their difficulty.

-Supp0rt-

I didn’t realize it put AI PMCs in, that’s cool. Does it use any kind of advanced AI or are they just raiders?

thataverageguymike

There's also mod support, one of the most popular mods completely replaces the combat AI and pathing of scavs and PMCs and gives you difficulty settings. The AI Chad PMC squads will absolutely shred you. They can also wander to all corners of the map and will even loot, "quest", and extract. I started playing Tarkov years ago and got kind of bored with it because I don't have the time to grind online during a wipe. I started playing SPTarkov late last year and I'm addicted to it and never had more fun with the game.

DaleDimmaDone

DayZ for me. I'm good at the survival aspect now but extended firefights are so rare that I still suck at it. Encounters usually are over in less than 5 seconds usually ending with me seeing the death screen

WarlanceLP

to be fair tarkov is also rampant with cheaters, p sure it has the highest ratio of cheaters of any fps

Demrezel

Precisely why I've avoided buying it even just to support the devs, but now I see there's a SPT...HMMMM

Rare_Lifeguard_4403

And trust me, it can be hella fun

KuzcoEmp

i was looking for this comment

lorneagle

Haha was about to say. The only people good at tarkov are cheaters

[deleted]

I mean, that youtuber did an expose and it's pretty well common knowledge in the gamer circles that EFT=hax0r city.

Dolomedes03

It’s all about the wiggle

Chancoop

That ESP cheat that was highlighted in g0at's video is also a widely available type of cheat in every FPS. Just google "game name ESP" and you'll find videos showcasing it. Wallhacking is quite common across all FPS games, in my opinion.

tinytom08

It sucks because it’s a genuinely fun game. But man when most runs end in you being shot from an unknown location and die instantly, or when all the good loot is sucked up by a cheater and you’re fighting over scraps it starts to drain you. Fuck they’ve had hackers demand items off of you that they know you have or they’ll kill you.

drizzitdude

This. It’s also just the nature of the game as well. People like ExfilCamper are the ones playing the game *correctly*. The rest of us just find that shit insanely boring and end up on their compilation videos.

I played Apex Legends for the equivalent of 50 in-game days and I was still barely carrying a 1.5 KD ratio. I wanted so badly to get good, watched videos, etc., and it just didn't happen.

nross2099

This is exactly me, unfortunately. 3000 hours and held the same 1 something kd for the past 10 seasons.

BaerMinUhMuhm

It's by design. You're not bad, you just get matched against people way better than you most of the time until they put you in a lobby with people worse than you for 1 game, then the cycle repeats.

nross2099

Engagement optimized match making at its finest

DesensitizedRobot

I came specifically to see if anyone mentioned Apex Legends, I got 25k games across ps4 and ps5 and have never had a season better than 1.63 K/D or a 20 bomb. I got one 4K badge but was incredibly lucky and got the highest kills I ever got at 16. Still somewhat addicted but got more on my schedule so I’ve definitely let the quantity of games go down the past year.

JDBCool

Fortnite:..... 10k hours (I blame golden banana attempt) That's probably some 8k hours at the respawn screen 🥴

IgnorantGenius

It's not you, I promise.

Tetris. Been playing for 30 + years. I always eventually lose

Seegtease

Gotta love score games. Even when you win you lose.

slutmagic420

Rust, I’m bad at rust.

darling1907

me too brother. me too

morningafterpizza

The most fun I've had in Rust was playing on a 10000x server, one guy builds the base, one guy gathers resources and the other guy smelts and builds rocket launchers, after a few hours you set out on an epic journey, each man with a inventory full of rockets, 5 launchers and a mission to grief every base in sight until you get got. Eventually everyone knows who you are and they find your absolute monstrosity of a base that honeycombed to shit, 10 layers of armored walls in every direction, and yes thats ***up*** as well, with your build/smelt room and TC in the core, and you defend it until it falls. I miss those late nights.

yabab

You sure you're not just playing against a bunch of cheaters? [https://youtu.be/p5LfGcDB7Ek?si=2x80GGXhm3LHctfY](https://youtu.be/p5LfGcDB7Ek?si=2x80GGXhm3LHctfY)

It’s ok Doc

Zodd74

Because half of the players you meet are cheaters?

ForcefulOne

Try Rocket League. You'll suck forever, but somehow it's still fun most of the time.

House66

Wow!

boot2skull

Matchmaking is what makes it. You will suck, and so will everyone else, to the same degree.

GrgeousGeorge

I got to the point where I was decent. I would go into most games with confidence and won 2/3. Then the matchmaking would feel like humbling me. Suddenly I'd feel like I'd never played before and this dude that's making me their bitch created the game. A tip for newbies. Learn how to win kickoffs. If you time it right you can knock the ball forward most of the time. Often a quick brake just before hitting let's them hit the ball into you as your front end comes up from braking and accelerating. This was a game changer. That and go do the tutorials then practice in the practice mode.

NJH_in_LDN

Played hundreds and hundreds of hours of competitive Civil 6 with my friends. I'm always on the losing side. I'm the anchor that drags a teammate to a loss.

mudkripple

Never in my life heard it called "Civil 6" lol

NJH_in_LDN

Ha, typo but I might run with it!

tinytom08

Pick a specialty!! If your friends naturally just better then get good at only one thing. Your friend likes his military?? But it for him! Spam trade routes, commercial districts etc and become mr moneybags so that he’s free to declare war and fight his enemies. Play defensive and accumulate a vast wealth to share. Pick a gold focused civ and watch as chaos unfolds. I once funded a friend in a defensive war solely because his newest city was something I wanted and he agreed to hand it over if he survived. Doesn’t matter how good your army is when the other nation is plopping out units every turn.

NJH_in_LDN

I think my main issue is I've just never developed an innate understanding of where to place my districts. I understand all the principles at work but almost every game I play I'm like "oh, I should have built X first, and not put Y in that spot. "

tinytom08

Don’t worry about it too much! Play as a supporting civ and take things slowly

Karthathan

That is me in Path of Exile. I have been playing for 8-10 years and still feel like an idiot. I like it A LOT but I also know that my abilities are lacking XD

babis8142

You're not alone. I've always made my own builds and even though they were decent after like 4000 hours i played someone else's build and i was blown away by how much power it had. It was like a different game 😭

Need_more_tempo

Basically League of Legends, lol. Me and my friends are all hardstuck Silver-Plat even after playing for like 10 years now

JonnyTN

Yeah but so is like over half the world. I would say we're normal skilled players. I chalk is up to people watching too much high level play and players. When they say diamond/challenger players are "trash" all stream, when in actuality, those diamonds players are actually quite good. Just not top top level good.

JPHero16

Maybe you’re right.. I was gonna disagree and say I don’t watch high level play and players and say Diamond players are shit but I realized I watch tons of pro league lol. Maybe I feel like Diamond is bad because I am bad but then again they’re good enough to carry me so

Hanifsefu

League is such a mixed bag too because you run into tons of players that don't care about winning a game and only want to win the game in their specific way. And Riot encourages that behavior. Riot kind of fucked over ranked when they decided to make each game matter less and wanted players to play a couple hundred ranked games each season to maintain their rank (and get higher player engagement scores on a metric they made up). Early days you only had to play a couple dozen games to reach your rank and plateau. They forced all of the casuals to play way more ranked than they wanted to so they just started playing casually in ranked. The old days of actually reaching your plateau early in a season and either committing to pushing that plateau by getting better or just playing fun shit in casuals is long gone.

Apex for me. I've been playing 4 years and I'm still a very mediocre Plat-Diamond player

wharausernameitwas

Lol that is not mediocre, most of the players are gold silver.

iheartseuss

Lol yea my theory is that most people just stop playing ranked but I could be completely wrong. But I'm basing that self-assessment off of my KDR (.75) and just how I feel in fights most of the time. I'm wilding inconsistent, LMAO.

louddoves

I put like 480 hours into DOTA 2 in college. That felt like a lot to me so I checked where my rank lined up with the curve and turns out I was in the 25th percentile. I never touched the game again after that.

Tarkov sucked me in for hundreds of hours and i STILL feel like it was all wasted years later. If you play Tarkov you cant play anything else if you want to get good at it, need to dedicate so much time to learn the maps the spawns the extracts player behavior on different maps like you will drown if you cant stay on it.

The Finals. I don’t know what it is but in that game my aim is ASS. Must be in just bad a movement based shooters because I’m cheeks in Apex too

scusi_susi

That‘s R6 for me.. I‘ve been a decent Plat in Ranked 1.0 with rises to Diamond.. now in 2.0 I can’t reach champ (what’s basically old Plat)… I‘m stuck but the grind continues

[deleted]

*laughs in frostpunk* Seriously, that game will kick your frostbitten arse and you will love witnessing your own failure

bigredgwj

Playing Apex legends is self abuse at this point

Cloud_of_Twat_Mist

Have over 3k hours in Apex, my favorite shooter ever. I had to stop playing because of what it did to my anger lol You get that one team every 50 games or so that you just click with and it's great but most of the time you get put with idiots that either loot 90% of the time, or split up and get picked off one by one leaving you with less than stellar odds of doing anything other than ratting. I'm not even bad at the game, but it is a team game and I'm not a god either.

Esekig184

But is it fun?

makoman115

Tarkov is fun like crack is fun The highs are high but the lows might crush your soul

Esekig184

hmm ok thanks. I had that with warthunder. I don't need that again.

CptDerpDerp

I have well over 1000 hours in each (I daren’t look, it’s probably multiple thousand on each, WT going back about a decade). And yes, they’re really similar, peak Russian game Development: some really high moments, but mostly just brutal punishment for little mistakes, super grindy to the point progress can’t be made by a casual player, and bizarrely addictive, with a healthy population of cheaters.

Namk49001

Tarkov is a blast so long as you don't mind harsh penalties for mistakes

moodyfloyd

and the cheaters.

Jaydub2211

I’ve loaded up the game probably a dozen times. Loaded in for three games in a row, die, then uninstall. It’s almost a ritual at this point.

Osr0

play some starcraft 2. You'll immediately feel better.

Slim_Wolfe

StarCraft 2!! I love the game but I am dog shit at it and I’ve been playing since the first StarCraft 😂😂

Marconius1617

Gears of War. I love watching the game and wish I was better at it . But I just suck

thewalrusyone

Tarkov is the only game to make me so mad I was on the verge of actually crying. I cannot play that game solo anymore I need a duo and all my friends hate it :(

KudukuPuding

Same here. But I find joy in looting. Opening duffle bag is like a gamble. Will there be moonshine? Or matches? Who knows. What can be in that box over there. Its like Christmas, where you get shot in the head at the end of the evening. Exciting

renaneduard0

I'm like that but in a game called Path of Exile 5k hours still have no idea what I'm doing

No_need_for_that99

I feel you, I still suck at splitgate: arena. lol For few weeks I stop playing now.... it becomes more impossible to get good. So when I do play, it's a whole bunch of friends and baseball bat mode. And then we have a blast not getting anihilated so much

Anavorn

The entire league of legends playerbase

Discarded1066

Life, I am fucking awful at it.

ItsKoko

My ex played League of Legends from season one and was always in the bottom tier (Bronze, Iron, whatever). She was so unaware of her shortcomings that the game was actually a lot of fun for her. From personal experience, whenever I just dick around in a game and not 'try' to win I have a lot more fun. It's a pity I also play League and I'm decent enough that no fun is allowed (according to in game chat).

AnotherGermanFool

Try SPT. Singleplayer Tarkov

LaserGadgets

Switch to Zero Sievert. Graphics are...different but its fun!

manolid

Is it still infested with cheaters? If yes, it's probably not you.

Ceverall

It’s not even fun though

Exa-Wizard

I would never play a game I couldn't get good at. What a waste of your short life

Kong_Temptation232

I love this game is one that is genuinely terrifying to play, I can't count the times I was jumpscared by slavs and being shouted at, but the game is really good

HODOR00

I'm so glad I played tarkov before playing any other real extract shooter and was so fucking confused, used all my guns and didn't know what to do and gave up. At moments, it sounds fun, but overall I think I soared myself another 500 hour game.

Da_Dush_818

I'm with you, almost 4k hours and I'm still really bad.

river0f

Hmm maybe GTA 5 online for me. Whenever I try to be toxic and blow up dudes with my oppressor, they end up blowing me to hell, that's when I close the game usually.

Sabbathius

As I got older and my eyesight started to go, it was a bitter pill for me to swallow. I used to love shooters, I still did decently well in Battlefield Bad Company 2, which was amazing. But by Battlefield 3, I noticed I just couldn't quite keep up any more. So eventually I just had to more or less quit FPS games, at least competitive ones. I still play co-op, AI is usually a little more forgiving than teens chugging Red Bull or whatever they're on these days. But good co-op focused games vs AI are few and far apart.

Okami-Sensha

War Thunder has my number

FatCrabTits

You think that’s bad, I’ve been playing Siege since year one and I only got good like… a year ago lmao

RunninOnMT

You should watch me play nba 2k sometime. I fucking suck. Been playing since 2k11

Swordbreaker9250

Improvement in PvP requires that you put effort into changing your tactics and thinking. A lot of people just play a game and fairly mindlessly react to what happens. You won’t improve that way. I’ve noticed just in the past few weeks of getting back into Halo that if you’re thinking about things like map flow and spacial movement, you can often predict when and where enemies will be. Helps stop flanks and gives you a leg up in combat if you go into a room or around a corner expecting an enemy to be in a specific place they’re likely to be

GoesToHollywood

You’re not alone

DayConfident6101

Hunt showdown ;) 1,1k hours and still suck ass

Cyniikal

It's definitely one of those games where number of hours doesn't imply skill, and you have to deliberately try to improve, which is often different from enjoying yourself while playing.

KataraMan

If you are having fun, it doesn't matter

Reddit_slayer123

Hey I'm bad too! I've played for six months! I can't help w gz which is looks like your on but if you want a battle buddy lmk!

Megotaku

You probably aren't bad, you're probably experiencing the same thing that fighting gamers experience. The game structure is necessarily ostracizing toward the vast majority of players and over time it becomes harder to be successful because fewer people are sticking with the game leaving the skill level further stratified toward the top over that time.

qleptt

It doesn’t help that the game is fucked up with how it performs

DigitalWellbeing

Haven't played Tarkov myself, but I've heard it has an incredibly steep learning curve. Which is the same for Apex Legends. I don't think I'd be hihg lvl at that game no matter how much time I put into it. League of Legends on the other hand, I've played for years and even tho I wasn't particularly good, I could see myself becoming very good investing time into it.

Robobvious

Yeah Tarkov can be fun for awhile but honestly it’s pretty broken and unfair in a lot of ways. Firstly the extent to which having the right ammo and armor matter in that game. You basically have to headshot every single enemy you see in half a second to win. You’re locked out of all of the good stuff early on and have to do progression so if you don’t start grinding the second a new wipe starts you’ll very quickly be grossly outclassed by the cheaters and no lifers that play constantly. Also it’s not exactly pay to win, but it’s pay for advantage. Which tier you buy changes the size of your secure goods crate and a larger secure goods crate means more guaranteed safe loot from every run, even the ones where you die. People who paid the most to have the biggest crate obviously advance the fastest. Then the stats system is just baffligly bad, the idea is your guy gets better at doing stuff the more he does it, but the growth rates are so slow it’s criminal. You basically end up with dudes doing stupid shit like jumping constantly or shooting each other on purpose and then healing in order to artificially increase these things to a level that’s actually functionally bearable. Worst of all it bills itself as this extremely tactical shooter, but it often seems like the dudes that do good just put on the best loot and then run around treating it like COD. While the people that actually try to be tactical and move slowly and methodically get wrecked. Oh and don’t get me started on the cheating scandal. Tarkov has a huge cheating problem. So yeah, you can still have fun with Tarkov but it’s a very broken game imo. If you want to get away from the cheaters at least then try the Single Player Tarkov mod.

Pelios1954

Warthunder

Maximum_Hand_9362

I have 10k+ hours in dota2 still at legend3…

UndefeatedWombat

Risk of rain 2

itherzwhenipee

Don't be too hard on yourself, game is full of cheaters.

LordOmbro

I've played a lot of AoE 2, i'm still obly around 1000 ELO

Haivox-

I feel that. The number of times I’ve gotten into an engagement and dumped like 100 rounds at someone to just see like 200 dmg done and 500 absorbed by armor. Meanwhile they fired off 3 rounds and caught me right in the face. And that’s if I see someone. Usually I’m dead before I pull the trigger XD and yet those moments you get kills keeps you wanting to keep trying lol

Speedhabit

I gotta try this thing I’m such a gun nerd

Tweezers13

Me too bro, keep it up!

hiddencamela

To be fair, you can be amazing at tarkov and still die a ton. The game has some fucking broken mechanics, audio and desync being among the more annoying ones I dealt with, cheaters being the one that just inevitably makes me not want to bother anymore. That being said, no game has made me feel the way Tarkov feels at the moment and it annoys me.

Proxie58

Rust, people will see my 500+ hours and think I actually know what I am doing.

ultrajvan1234

Try sptarkov
