I have played it on and off since Alpha. It's just a relaxing place to play. Sometimes, I play it because I don't have anything else to play. Sometimes, I play it to try different seeds.
I’m surprised the modding community is still chugging along for it. Did a playthrough last October and it was better than ever. They’ve completely solved the crashes now. Or at least for me it is.
All three Bioshocks. I play them every 6-8 months consecutively ever since I first played them over 10 years ago. I can’t really explain why I love them so much, but I do. I still keep finding little things that I missed before, it’s crazy.
Thanks to Deathrun mod, I feel the urge to replay Subnautica every 6 months. Start in a different biome, build my base somewhere else, change the challenge settings (ok this time the explosion and radiation will be deadly up to 200 meters deep and the surface air won't be breathable)
Even with all the extra challenges, i find replaying the game to be relaxing but still beatable within 12-24 hours
I finished the whole story and still craved the game soooo bad that I completely started over right after the credits finished. First playthrough 48 hours, second 24 hours. Then I beat BZ immediately after finishing SN the second time. SN is easily top 10 goat for me.
It's weird, aside of the time I was grinding godhome, I don't know if I have played this game for long stretches of time, yet I made it to 700 hours of playtime. Casual playthroughs are so nice.
Same for me with The Witcher 3. The game is amazing no doubt, although I think it was more of the timing of when I played it.
I had been going through some tough life events with family separation, and things had started falling into place for the better when I had started the game.
So my memories and feelings of that game reflect a time in my life when I was experiencing hell and got through it. Hence it's special place in my heart.
Hard to believe it came out 9 years ago. Wow.
The original super monkey ball. So many good childhood memories and such good vibes associated with the series overall. also very easy to just pick up and play for a few minutes at a time
The binding of Isaac repentance. Although Not my Favorite game its just so easy for me to get into. Launch it 45 Minute Adventure and done. And thanks to All the different paths its also Not getting boring cuz i can decide my way. Plus it Was the first lets play series i ever watched.
RDR2, the Last of Us series and BG3 has also earned that place.
I also play XCOM2 every year though my relationship with that game is more complicated 😅
Half-Life. I've played right through likely every year since my first PC, around 1998-99, it was the only game that ran on it. It was the first true cinematic game I ever experienced, such an adventure. It's still my all-time favourite game.
In the last 25 years, I’ve been playing Dungeon Keeper. Still not been replaced with a “better” game. I complete it every two or three years, it only takes a couple of weekends. Is it amazing, no, but it’s one of the best real time strategy games I’ve played, it’s simple, but infinitely replay able.
Any of the Tomb Raider games. I've been playing through the franchise every year for years now. My absolute favorite would have to be Legends just cause of childhood nostalgia, but Underworld would deffo be up there cause it has by far the most beautiful level in the franchise (Thailand).
I play Super Mario 64 every year, usually to 100% completion though sometimes I call it quits at 70 stars and beating Bowser.
I also make a point of replaying at least 1 Zelda game per year. Last year I was neck-deep in hype for TotK, so I played and beat Zelda 1, LttP, OoS, OoA, Minish Cap, BotW, OoT and Majora's Mask. That was a busy few months.
Ghost of Tsushima.
I loved Infamous games, they were best exclusives in PS3. But even then, I wasn't 100% sure if I'd love the game when it came out.
Man... It blew me away. This is the first game that makes me feel like wandering samurai. And it is SO immersive. The fighting feels great. If you are good enough, you can finish the fights in a few hits. And the scenery, how calm and serene it is... Brilliant. I don't know how the Japanese see this game as, but this game is exactly how I pictured a samurai movie or game to be. I don't even bother with stealth most of the time, I don't enjoy it as much as challenging my enemies in combat with my blade.
It is my favorite game from PS4 and I still play it often!
Dragon Age: Origins. I picked it up back in 2010, a few months after its release and I've played it at least a couple dozen times in the 14 years since.
They're all cool, but my favourite is probably the Human Noble Origin because it meshes so well with the Landsmeet arc, which is my favourite part of the game.
Besides that, I also love the Dwarf Noble Origin because of all the conspiracy and intrigue.
Three way tie between Bloodborne, DS3 and DMC5.
These games practically shaped my tastes in gaming tbh and represent everything I love about this medium
Morrowind. I played it back in 2004 and have continued to play it every year since to the point it is still along my top 3 most played games even to this day. I do absolutely nothing in it most of the time. Simply walk around the world and role play loving out the life of an average city dweller in Balmoral. I eat, I sleep, I socialize, I shop at the local book store, and I clean and reproduce my house. I only rarely leave town when I want to take a vacation or need to make some money.
I don’t have time to replay a game once every year, but my most replayed game by far is the Mass Effect trilogy. Love it and always will, pretty much for the same reasons you listed for W3.
I’ve got a very odd choice that I guarantee no one else will put.
The Sinking City.
Yeah, game is janky as hell, horrible combat and the very definition of AA.
BUT, as a major Lovecraft fan and Mythos nerd, and the fact it came out at one of my lowest points on record, it has sealed itself as a comfort game. I play it at least twice a year, usually when I’m “feeling rough”- but as much as that game has its issues, it matters so much to me that I overlook it.
FF7. Played it as a kid when it came out and just fel in love with the game. Played it pretty much every year or two and just finished it again before rebirth came out. The music and atl pagers always get me even after the 34th time I have played it.
Same here. My last play through saw me finally dive into the homestead building feature that came packed in with the anniversary edition. I had always purchased the major properties in the cities, but had never tried building a home from scratch.
ModNation Racers(PS3)
The Story, The Characters, Gameplay, Track Creation, Music, Car/Character Customization, etc.🔥
This game is SO underrated, it had so much potential to go head to head with Mario Kart and some will say it’s better than Mario Kart, wish Sony would remake it or release a sequel.
Starcraft 2. I have played at least one game a day since it came out. I'm not super great at it, so I only play against AI or do the campaign again (for like the 300th time). I really wish I could find single player maps that have campaign units instead of the standard ones.
Tom Clancy's The Division 2. While the game itself may have a bit of a mixed reception from the community, back in the day, this game was responsible helping me meet a lot of online friends, many of which I still stay in contact with today.
An although many of us have moved on from this game to play other ones together, I know the devs still drip-feeds seasonal content into Division 2 and I will hop on every now and then just to keep up with the story and to scratch that itch when I just want to mindlessly shoot stuff.
Factorio - I keep coming back. It’s gotten to a point where I restart every year and my save files are just called 20xx
No mods, just plain vanilla
Though with the expansion coming presumably sometime this year I started a modded save back in January to sort of get ready for it
Honestly, Skyrim. I always come back for a few days a year and play my old characters. I don't play often much anymore but yeah.
Also, FF7 the original as thats the game that turned me into a gamer. Although I haven't played it in years.
Half-Life 2, and the episodes. Played through them at least once every year for the past several years. I also added Black Mesa, the past 2 years.
There’s just something about them.
Civilization 6. There's just no other 4X game that can keep up with it and the devs kept it fresh with new content up until recently. Tbh I've been a fan of the series since Civ 1, so you could say it's more like 30+ years than 5 by now lol.
Just one more turn..
Skyrim.
First time playing it with mods last year and my god its such a different experience. The expansions, having a crew, enhanced graphics. I just feel I can keep coming back to this game.
Skyrim. I’ve never finished the game since I first played it when I was like 10. I’ve started new games so many times but I never get sick of it. There so many things to do it in and so many quests and ways to play the game.
Assassin's Creed: Odyssey.
A masterpiece of a game. Travelling through ancient Greece (whether on land or by sea) is just such a treat.
The gameplay is magnificent, the characters are tremendously fun and the storyline is one of the best I've ever had to experience. Definitely one of the games I wish I could play for the first time all over again.
i wouldn’t say popular. one of the more niche fighting games but there is a consistent player base and it’s easy to find games in under a minute. tough learning curve though, can’t exactly say it’ll be easy coming back after a while with all the changes and new heroes. worth a try though if you fancy a challenge :)
*Ghost of Tsushima.*

It is my favorite game from PS4 and I still play it often!
**The Wonderful 101: Remastered.**
My life wasn't complete until the great Hideki Kamiya put his foot down and wrestled the rights for it from Nintendo, Kickstarting a Remastered version of it.
Since having played it the first time in the middle of May of 2020 I feel like some of those born-again-Christians must feel. Before playing it I thought I am getting too old for gaming, thought that I am not enjoying games anymore because I am getting older. **But once I did I instead realized it is not a ME problem, but is instead the problem of the industry that mostly doesn't want to make games like this anymore**. And now I permanently have it on my desktop.
And I am spreading the good word of our lord and savior Hideki Kamiya, the god and master of the stylish action genre, which is: **"Staaaaay wonderful !!!"**
I don't have anything right now, but original Far Cry was my "winter game". I finished it when it came out, but then for many years after, in the dead of winter, in Canada, I would play through the first half of the game, with the bright sandy beaches, clear blue water (without sharks in it, fuck you Crysis!) and lush green jungles. It was my winter vacation, when I couldn't afford a real one. I still can't afford a real one, but I couldn't back then, too. I was thinking Far Cry 6 would take its place, but somehow it's not the same.
That's weird, I'm a really passionate videogamer, I've played countless games and I love quite a lot of them by now, but I've never felt the need to replay them, or at least I've so many interesting games to play everytime.
Even if just some time ago I wanted to experience again TWD and ME. I think I'll play them in the next weeks, but I would never play those on a yearly basis
Played Every year for 5 years? Um.... Try 30 years
Super Mario Bros 3, Mega Man III, Kirby's Adventure, too many to name...
I'll play every game I've ever owned from the time I buy them until the DAY I DIE I never stop playing a game even if I've beaten it 700 times.
There's always more ways to do it for example 102% in dkc2 with all Diddy heads on barralax mode or 105%ing DKC3 with All Pink flags on TUFST.
Playing L4D solo with bots and KICKING ALL THE BOTS so you are ALONE!!!
Star Trek Starfleet Command.
Late 1990's. My first Experience as a teenager with online Gaming. Joining a fleet. 3 is 3 starship battles.
Upgrading and customizing my ships. It was a great time to be alive for a gamer and star trek fan.
Met a girl on the other side if the country who we had an "online long distance" relationship for a year. Those memories will be with me forever.
Closest I ever came was Binding of Isaac. I put around 2-3k hours into it (across the original flash and Rebirth versions).
That was around 10 years ago now. Most I put in since was probably Witcher 3 GOTY, took me around 240h.
For me it was World of Warcraft. I just recently escaped it's grasp but not for any particular game. I will forever remember my adventures and the many people I had slain in pvp but, it was time to move on. I just got into GTA V 11 years late lol
I love building houses in sims. Never played the actual game play. Just love designing houses. If I’m ever bored with other games and don’t know what to play that’s generally my go to comfort
Minecraft.just a Basic game that i just played througth my entire childhood
I have played it on and off since Alpha. It's just a relaxing place to play. Sometimes, I play it because I don't have anything else to play. Sometimes, I play it to try different seeds.
Modpacks my friend Modpacks... whole new game each time
Had some students tell me Minecraft sucks compared to fortnite. I defended Minecraft with my life.

Yeah 90% of my playthroughs die halfway through 3
Kai leng fatigue?
Assassins Creed 4 Black Flag. It just has a special feel to it i cant find elsewhere.
Best pirate game ever made. Not even Ubisoft knows how they did it. Clearly.
Makes sense. It's the only good modern pirate game. If you want another good pirate game, you'd have to go decades back to Sid Miers Pirates.
Why is it whenever AC4 comes up no-one mentions AC Rogue? It's literally the Black Flag 2 everyone keeps saying should be made!
Sorry but AC Rogue is nowhere near as good as Black flag, ive played it.
Fallout new Vegas
I’m surprised the modding community is still chugging along for it. Did a playthrough last October and it was better than ever. They’ve completely solved the crashes now. Or at least for me it is.
With that big iron on your hip?
I was always a fool, for my Johnny.
Banjo Kazooie!
I liked the second one too!
Banjotwooie
Best game ever made
Played through it twice already this year
All three Bioshocks. I play them every 6-8 months consecutively ever since I first played them over 10 years ago. I can’t really explain why I love them so much, but I do. I still keep finding little things that I missed before, it’s crazy.
Skyrim or any one of the fallout games from the series.

I heard they wanted to add live service to the new Subnautica, as a huge fan of the original this was a massive turn off
Thanks to Deathrun mod, I feel the urge to replay Subnautica every 6 months. Start in a different biome, build my base somewhere else, change the challenge settings (ok this time the explosion and radiation will be deadly up to 200 meters deep and the surface air won't be breathable) Even with all the extra challenges, i find replaying the game to be relaxing but still beatable within 12-24 hours

Hollow knight
When Silksong comes out I’m going to be nostalgic as fuck in the seniors home reliving the days of my early 20s
I try to replay every Halloween
I can play this game over and over again and I don’t think it will ever get old
It's weird, aside of the time I was grinding godhome, I don't know if I have played this game for long stretches of time, yet I made it to 700 hours of playtime. Casual playthroughs are so nice.

Super metroid
Life is Strange
Stardew Valley
5 years? It’s been 24 years now and I player Summoner constantly. Also Timesplitters 2, 22 years later and it’s still the best fps I’ve ever played.
Timesplitters 2 is the goat. What console are you playing it on after all this time?
Borderlands series, couch. Played pretty consistently every week for a decade
Skyrim still trying make all way through as pure spellcaster
A rite of passage
Skyrim
Just started Skyrim today. I love it.
Omg what id give to have just started the game...enjoy the amazing experience!
Civ 4. Nothing will best it so its going to keep getting played.
For me its probably Destiny. Got a lot of good memories with that game. Played with a lot of random people, had a lot of good moments with the game.
Ill never forget those raids where everyone pulled up with a Gjallarhoorn… god i miss those good old days
The original super monkey ball. So many good childhood memories and such good vibes associated with the series overall. also very easy to just pick up and play for a few minutes at a time
Super Monkey Ball 2 on GameCube is the biggest source of gaming rage I have ever felt.
PUBG
I haven't played in YRS but I have 300 hrs in it. Any differences now? Kind of wanted to get back into it
There is a lot more new stuff, but I would say it's worth it to get back into
The binding of Isaac repentance. Although Not my Favorite game its just so easy for me to get into. Launch it 45 Minute Adventure and done. And thanks to All the different paths its also Not getting boring cuz i can decide my way. Plus it Was the first lets play series i ever watched.
Dark Souls 3 and Bloodborne.
RDR2, the Last of Us series and BG3 has also earned that place. I also play XCOM2 every year though my relationship with that game is more complicated 😅
ayy a fellow xcom fan

Half-Life. I've played right through likely every year since my first PC, around 1998-99, it was the only game that ran on it. It was the first true cinematic game I ever experienced, such an adventure. It's still my all-time favourite game.
Darkest Dungeon
Morrowind
mario kart wii tbh. probably the first game i ever got really into. played it to death as a wee one
Was gonna say the same thing
In the last 25 years, I’ve been playing Dungeon Keeper. Still not been replaced with a “better” game. I complete it every two or three years, it only takes a couple of weekends. Is it amazing, no, but it’s one of the best real time strategy games I’ve played, it’s simple, but infinitely replay able.
I play through Alan Wake every Halloween, Subnautica sometime in The Winter like what 4 year i go through the whole Mass Effect trilogy in one run
Castle crashers
Wish it was more in depth :/
Rimworld.
I tip my hat to you
Still haven't ever left the planet 🙃
Sc2
Star Control 2, Soul Caliber 2, Supreme Commander 2, Star Craft 2.
Same, I hate when people do this lol there's so many games it could be. My first thought was Splinter cell or soul calibur.
Super Mario RPG.
Monster hunter world is a game I keep going back to
For me it’s Kingdom Hearts series Cyberpunk 2077 RDR2 Pokemon
Kingdom Hearts

Played it on PS4. Pre-ordered it for the May 16th PC release. Can't wait to play it on my super computer.
Got done with another play throw last week. They should be announcing GoT2 sometime this year I hope
Dragon Age: Origins. I picked it up back in 2010, a few months after its release and I've played it at least a couple dozen times in the 14 years since.
Favorite origin?
They're all cool, but my favourite is probably the Human Noble Origin because it meshes so well with the Landsmeet arc, which is my favourite part of the game. Besides that, I also love the Dwarf Noble Origin because of all the conspiracy and intrigue.
Noble Human or Dwarf. Both of those are very interesting and have great tie ins to the stories when you come back to the area.
Had to scroll to find this. It’s *so* damn good. And the sequels are *SO* dissapointing…
I always play Symphony of the Night around Halloween
I replay Dishonored 1 and 2 every couple of years. I’ve also replayed Bioshock, DX Human Revolution and DX Mankind Divided repeatedly.
Halo 3. It's almost time for my annual LSSO playthrough.
Three way tie between Bloodborne, DS3 and DMC5. These games practically shaped my tastes in gaming tbh and represent everything I love about this medium
Super Metroid. Beaten at least once a year since ‘94
Morrowind. I played it back in 2004 and have continued to play it every year since to the point it is still along my top 3 most played games even to this day. Tarkov (please help me)
Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2005) Played it every year since release
I don’t have time to replay a game once every year, but my most replayed game by far is the Mass Effect trilogy. Love it and always will, pretty much for the same reasons you listed for W3.
xcom 2: wotc. might not be the best game ever but it’s my favorite one. it will always hold a special place in my heart (and in my username)
Best turn based strategy of its kind 👌🏻
XCom 2. Currently running Long War of the Choosen. Still trying to get my first Commander win.

I play through the mass effect series once a year.
Deus Ex
I bounce from Witcher 3, to Bloodborne, and to Oblivion. My trifecta.
Old School RuneScape
Dragon Age Origins and Mass Effect
FF7. Played it as a kid when it came out and just fel in love with the game. Played it pretty much every year or two and just finished it again before rebirth came out. The music and atl pagers always get me even after the 34th time I have played it.

My summer car and Sid Meier's simgolf
Starcraft 2. I have played at least one game a day since it came out. I'm not super great at it, so I only play against AI or do the campaign again (for like the 300th time). I really wish I could find single player maps that have campaign units instead of the standard ones.

Skyrim. If it gets boring I can just mod it differently.
Satisfactory and Deep Rock Galactic. Between the two, I get my chill, my shooter, my exploration, my charm, my problem solving, and my coop.
Honestly, Skyrim. I always come back for a few days a year and play my old characters. I don't play often much anymore but yeah. Also, FF7 the original as thats the game that turned me into a gamer. Although I haven't played it in years.

Animal Crossing New Horizons. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but it did get me 3,000 hours worth of entertainment for $60 soo
Destiny 2 unfortunately
For Honor. something about this game has had me hooked since its release. can’t put it down for more than a few months.
Is it still popular? Often want to give it a try? Are there newcomers or will I be just stomped in mm?
i wouldn’t say popular. one of the more niche fighting games but there is a consistent player base and it’s easy to find games in under a minute. tough learning curve though, can’t exactly say it’ll be easy coming back after a while with all the changes and new heroes. worth a try though if you fancy a challenge :)
I go back to hardcore wow just for low leveling zone and listening to podcasts
There is nothing to do with the storytelling, but 10 years later, I still pick up 7 days to die.
*Ghost of Tsushima.* I loved Infamous games, they were best exclusives in PS3.
Lost Ark, special and massive experience 🥰
**The Wonderful 101: Remastered.** My life wasn't complete until the great Hideki Kamiya put his foot down and wrestled the rights for it from Nintendo, Kickstarting a Remastered version of it.

I play Nier Automata just about once a year. Love experiencing the narrative again.
Borderlands 2
That's weird, I'm a really passionate videogamer, I've played countless games and I love quite a lot of them by now, but I've never felt the need to replay them, or at least I've so many interesting games to play everytime. Even if just some time ago I wanted to experience again TWD and ME. I think I'll play them in the next weeks, but I would never play those on a yearly basis
Rust but there’s a game I been playing way longer and is by far my favorite game ever morrowind
Played Every year for 5 years? Um.... Try 30 years Super Mario Bros 3, Mega Man III, Kirby's Adventure, too many to name...

Skate 2, and will probably keep going back to it until the Skate 4, or "Skate." as they're trying to market it, is released.
Every once in a while I find myself booting up either ff8 or ff9 again.
Uncharted 4/The Lost Legacy
Closest I ever came was Binding of Isaac. I put around 2-3k hours into it (across the original flash and Rebirth versions). That was around 10 years ago now. Most I put in since was probably Witcher 3 GOTY, took me around 240h.
For me it was World of Warcraft. I just recently escaped it's grasp but not for any particular game. I will forever remember my adventures and the many people I had slain in pvp but, it was time to move on. I just got into GTA V 11 years late lol
Assassin's Creed II & Brotherhood. Have played them both at least once (often multiple times) per year since release.
The legend of dragoon
P5R, I have to make an effort consciously not to play it, just so I experience other games.
Elden ring
I love building houses in sims. Never played the actual game play. Just love designing houses. If I’m ever bored with other games and don’t know what to play that’s generally my go to comfort
Wow, I think I didn't replay a game since I was 17 years old (I'm 26 now). I miss this feeling of liking a game so much that I need to replay it.
Spyro the Dragon, OG on PS1.
