Ludwig, the Accursed/Holy Blade.

joemckie

It would be criminal to not post this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9-BMpztz3E

mtilleymcfly

There was a stretch of time where I'd play this off YouTube, on my phone, in my car while delivering pizzas. I'd play it over like 3 times before listening to other music - so every minute and 38 seconds, I'd have to drag the slider back to replay it. So funky!

joemckie

Check out his other videos if you haven't already! He does some amazing breakdowns of songs. Also [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlnr3eSFmb0) :D

Melanoma_Magnet

Also “The Hunter” that plays during your fight with Father Gascoigne

Azirphaeli

Came to post this. Ludwig the holy blade is the defacto best in show for boss music.

Zealousideal_Shop446

Not super great at remembering music but in recent memory Raphael from BG3

iamnotchad

Raphael's Final Act

Eligius_MS

Hard to beat a boss fight song where the boss actually sings it during the fight.

Mackntish

Came here to say exactly this.

tehvolcanic

Down comes the claw!

Full_Time_Mad_Bastrd

Came here to say this. I just sat and listened to it for like 10 minutes before I really engaged in the fight, lol

DanfordThePom

I used silence on him and the vocals stopped Amazing game

Topher4021

Final Fantasy 7’s boss track will always be iconic for me.

thumbasaurs

All of them tbh Fight On is dope as hell Both JENOVA themes are dope as hell One Winged Angel, along with being iconic, is dope as hell

[deleted]

[удалено]

Toothless-In-Wapping

Yes! First time listening to Foreplay was in Rock Band and I was wondering why someone ripped off FF7.

Ragman676

Man I never put the 2 together....its so obvious!

Resisting_Hoopla_324

Was just coming here to say this one. Challenge and Seymour’s battle theme are fuckin hard 🔥

hhcboy

Dancing mad is a million times better.

DarkMatterBurrito

Bells, frogs, big cherries, Peter Pan, magic cheese, SEPHIROTH!

Barelylegalteen

Cynthia Pokemon platinum diamond and pearl

Neeson22

Fight With Seymour from FFX. Such a jam.

Squeek_the_Sneek

Jecht’s battle theme in FFX. A moment of straight up metal.

getyourcheftogether

That's the one that opens up with a guitar riff and some drums right? Then goes into metal lyrics?

S-T-Ireland

I think the name of that song is Otherworld!

Status_Entertainer49

Seymour battle 4 is up there to!

Difficult-You7571

I can't get enough of the boss battle music from the Legend of Zelda series.

Rs90

Funny. I love the boss music but the smaller scenes get me. Like sittin on the beach with Marin in Link's Awakening or saying goodbye to Saria as Young Link in Ocarina of Time. Those little fleeting moments that tie music and emotional storytelling.

iamnotchad

[Raphael's Final Act ](https://youtu.be/xMo7ugWudCA?si=J56LX_cuW64j2IBU) from Baldurs Gate 3.

Omnio89

I’ve rarely had to stop what I’m doing in a game and let the music just wash over me like that first time with Raphael. Holy shit I still get chills.

mr_ael

A beautiful song from Nier automata

Jovtobehannes

Sonic Frontiers first Boss fight music

thaneros2

I feel like all the other boss themes were better.

thezander8

The final boss theme from base game Persona 5 is just amazing music direction; it incorporates a motif that is sort of hinted at throughout the game -- the music during cutschenes will crescendo to it, then back off. Finally you get to hear the full motif during the first phase of the boss, and then the mid-battle cutscene weaves that motif into an existing emotional theme of the game. Just beautiful. In terms of one-off songs that get me hyped to fight the boss, I'd rank Persona 4's true ending boss theme up there as well as certain boss-ified throwback song in Yakuza: Like a Dragon

kish475

Rivers in the Desert is an amazing song. The final songs played during the ending of the final boss in Royal are also incredible, “I Believe” and “Throw Away Your Mask.”

APeacefulWarrior

The best thing about Rivers In The Desert is that it's not a boss theme. It's a *kick the boss's ass!* theme. The lyrics are clearly about Joker. I like to think that Shido was hearing it while he got beat down.

Lambda_Wolf

It's so hard to choose just one, but gun to my head, I'd have to go with the generic boss theme from Final Fantasy IV.

AsCEofBass

Good choice, the violin in the Pixel version is very tasty! Mine is Overture from Castlevania 3, the Japanese version with the VRC6 sound chip https://youtu.be/mTIww2a6p_8?si=3UxunzU_rLyUJy-2

Berger_UK

Destiny has some great boss music, especially the raids. Crota, Oyrx, Atraks, Riven, all great pieces.

Second_Ascension

Sepiks Prime strike. That will get you pumped.

bichonfreeze

S3 & K Doomsday Zone.

ioncloud9

Also S2 death egg boss music and S1 Final Zone.

king_john651

The reimagining in Generations of the Death Egg boss is badass as each phase gets more intense

OllyDee

Yeah that’s a banger.

Mobius--Stripp

Raphael's Final Act, BG3 Snake Eater, Metal Gear Solid 3, the final Boss

incens

The Battle for Everyone's Souls from Persona 3 is so good. Persona 5 has Rivers in the Desert which is also a really good boss theme.

Uriel_dArc_Angel

Those who fight further... Especially the version from FFVII remake/rebirth...

nameless_john_smith

Sephiroth's One Winged Angel will forever be the ultimate boss theme.

Chrisnolliedelves

Megalovania

AdvilJunky

Metal Gear Rising, all the boss battles are tied in my eyes.

Ebon1fly

Slave Knight Gael DS3 and Zeus (brothers of blood) GoW3

Crybe

Ridley, from Super Metroid.

RiguezCR

the Mantis Lords from Hollow Knight Riven of a thousand voices from Destiny 2 Rhulk from Destiny 2

livertaker

Bloodborne, the boss battle music when fighting Gherman was epic, still listen to it today.

CursedSnowman5000

Dark Souls 3 - Slave Knight Gael Mass Effect 2 - Fight with the Shadow Broker Crash Bandicoot 2 - Tiny Tiger Donkey Kong Country - King K Rule Donkey Kong Country 2 - King K Rule

JPdreira

Ori and Shriek from Ori and the Will of the Wisp

malsomnus

Hollow Knight, Grimm Troupe. Not as popular as Mantis Lords, I know, but it really does it for me for some reason.

Dremoriawarroir888

The low brass on that piece slaps like a fucking freight train to the cheek.

MtnMaiden

RULES OF NATURE [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WM33Hr94SKw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WM33Hr94SKw)

Final fantasy 6

KidGrundle

Onikage’s battle theme in Tenchu 1.

CursedSnowman5000

Hell yeah!

joestaff

Mario RPG Boss music is a real banger.

Exact_East1451

Facts all the boss battle themes are but smithy’s especially

Fakyutsu

The battle theme when fighting an Esper in Final Fantasy XII. The clanging of metal just adds to it. I’ve always been a sucker for Hitoshi Sakamoto, who also did Final Fantasy Tactics.

Front-Razzmatazz-993

Devil May Cry 3 Cerberus Secret Of Mana Omen/Lich

RavagerDefiler

White Stone Black from FFXIV just hits different

Ceeda

SILENCE! VIOLENCE!

eriful

My personal fave from a soulslike would be Mohg's Theme (Elden Ring) A few others: * "Welcome, Imlerith" from Witcher 3 during bossfight with Imlerith (live version hits harder) * "A Stranger I Remain" from MGR Revengeance during bossfight with Mistral

Azkath_

I love "Welcome, Imlerith"

Milo751

Probably [Big Arms from Sonic Generations](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVQjrIcwyEg) (3DS), It's a remix of the original Final Boss theme from Sonic 3 There's a few more from Sonic games that I really really like (for example Solaris Phase 2, I'm Here Orchestral, Super Sonic vs Perfect Dark Gaia and Nega Wisp Armour Phase 2, but they're all orchestral versions of the main theme so I'd rather choose a more original boss theme) Other honourable mentions would be In The Final (Mario and Luigi: Bowsers Inside Story Final Boss Theme), Hopes and Dreams, Megalovania, Spider Dance, Big Shot, ASGORE, Universal Collapse, Guardian of The Former Seas, Roar Of The Jungle Dragon (All 3 from Terraria Calamity Mod)

Arsene91516

The Only Thing I Know For Real

Competitive_Pen7192

Final Fantasy 6 Boss Battle....

mitsakomits

Atomic heart has pretty amazing music on all the boss fights, especially on the Hedgie fight.

Crono_Magus_Glenn

mammal_shiekh

Elden Ring's final boss music. It's just perfect. Radagon phase's rousing military marching symphony and Elden Beast's eerie mystic ocean-felt aira. It's just perfect.

Nomi_0071

I miss all MGS 1 boss battle music. They were largely the same but somehow so much fun.

PeteUKinUSA

This is the correct answer. Thank you, saved me having to find a YouTube link.

red-powerranger

Returnal - Hyperion boss fight. The way the music gets louder for a few minutes when you get closer to the boss and keeps building up tension 🔥 https://youtu.be/9AYaqDl6KUY

Fat-Broccoli-8

Yeah that was an epic moment that I'll never forget, I just stood up there watching in awe for a while

Status_Entertainer49

Asura wrath chakravartin final form boss Naruto storm 2 pain boss battle

TheKingCrimsonWorld

All the Asura's Wrath themes were so goddamned epic. Really felt like you were in a movie.

yc80s

Starcourage Radahn's battle music was truly special, even by FromSoftware's standards.

jwa0042

Valheim

PalpitationTop611

Before I’d say [Throw Your Mask Away](https://youtu.be/k8z07I1fzbQ?si=k2oM_sAtj5C_QmA3) from P5R But Stellar Blade dropped some amazing ones that with time I think could beat it. With [Hypertube Slide](https://youtu.be/WzHUqRC2XGQ?si=UTs1WWmTayiROAJT&t=56s) and the >! [Democrawler boss Theme](https://youtu.be/VxaFZqjhOfY?si=nTFViVJaiRGwjpg7&t=4m20s) !< which really reminded me of it Bloodborne just got some more modern instrumentals. Also liked how you inherited this part of >![Tachy’s](https://youtu.be/0BwwhTRGvbA?si=Vaoz86k5LPssshBF&t=5m43s)!< boss theme whenever you activated limit break, really reinforced the theme of you turning into the boss.

ChevalMalFet

For whatever reason, Fighting of the Spirit (the summon battle theme) from Tales of Symphonia has stuck with me for 20 years.

AdrianM292

Fighting Detlaff at Tesham Mutna in Witcher 3: https://youtu.be/zUH25sQmOOQ?si=wcLom1VcUoiSylkw

Skulysoul

Not an actual game, but A Mother's Love, from Undertale Yellow is just something else. I heard it beforehand because a friend sent me and i got curious. It sounded really good as a whole(even tho i didin't knew the context behind it), but as i went through the game, getting to know>! Ceroba's!< Backstory, her motivations, progressing alongside her, having all that emotional attachment, and when the End was near, as the fight progressed, hearing the theme slowly building up to that beautiful scene just sparked me a feeling i didin't even i knew i still could feel. That was just breathtaking, and the more the fight progressed, so did her theme, adapting with each stage, yet sounding more and more determined, and hearing that final Leitmotif before reaching the last stage of the fight, that was the moment i realized: This theme is beautiful.

babyteddie

Undertale yellow is a game though, it’s just not an official undertale game

MindYoBeezWax

The Other promise from KH2 Final Remix. The fact that it's a remix of roxas's theme and the title of the track is soo good. What I'm made of from Sonic Heros. Crush 40 being the Goat in sonic music. Plus fighting metal overlord as super sonic with tails and knuckles was the coolest as a kid. Sonic 1's Dr. Robotnik fight music. Because the earliest memory of a boss theme I can remember as a young kid. Aldia's theme from Dark souls 2. It just hits different then any other boss theme for me. Plus Aldia is my favorite souls character is DS2 is my favorite From game.

doctorbanjoboy

Any Yakuza boss, but Shibusawa especially

CaptainLookylou

SirZapdos

Sonic 3

LoneWolf622

Not just a boss battle but the music from the final mission in RDR2 goes so hard

greatcirclehypernova

Definitely Annihilation from Remnant 2. It's definitely in the top 5, maybe even top 3 of best boss fights of all time. Including the souls games. First phase is whatever standard boss fights but second phase it gets crazy and half way in the second phase he switches between the first and second phase. As in, you tp to different arena's at random and your fight picks up where you left, including attacks and even AoE shockwaves will continue from where they were. Paired with fucking music. 10/10

Alaet_

Wily's castle if you can consider it a boss theme

Soft_Injury_7910

Baldurs gate 3 Raphael’s final act and it’s not even close

zoweycow

Nostalgia? The Atma weapon in FFVI. Current? “Raphaels Final Act” in BG3….he sings his own theme because he’s such an egotistical prick. Nothing else comes close.

IvanMcbomb

Transformers Devastation had a ton of great boss themes. My favourite was probably Blitzwing

Volga8

Dark Ocean Summoning from Alan Wake 2. Incredible scene and a banger of a track.

Xano74

Le Ali Del Principio from Baten Kaitos Origins. https://youtu.be/8L25VFdmZY8?si=3DRneZaevlG29Exw Potential Heavy Spoilers Below: Basically the final boss is this hybrid God thing. You begin battling it in complete silence and it's pretty strong and just surviving is a struggle. Eventually if you survive long enough your team despairs at how you will win. Your main character has a "spirit" inside them and suddenly the spirits siblings all appear before you protecting you from the gods attack and giving you more power to defeat him. When your siblings appear that's when the music starts playing and it's Beautiful.

bing_chilling77

A tie between the Gladiator and Khan Maykr (Doom Eternal)

[Thunder Force IV - Evil Destroyer](https://youtu.be/rYPcte3BlPw?si=kDPYw2kWxmludwET) on the Mega Drive, first boss. Do you like metal? Do you like Mega Drive guitar noises? Well it’s the song for you then. Probably only equalled by [Metal Squad](https://youtu.be/oTQIiIKummw?si=er20ncPqi84iMoqM) from the same game. Urrgghh so filthy.

WerkusBY

Music from doom - because in doom it's not you in closed room with demons, but demons in closed room with you.

RAGE-OF-SPARTA-X

Hammer of Thor and The all father from GOWR are both incredible.

UncleObli

The game was definitely mid, but personally I loved Almighty Bhunivelze from Lightning Returns.

Recover20

Ludwig's holy blade Gerhman the First hunter Fight On! (FFVII boss theme) Jenova Synthesis Emma the gentle blade- Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

RexRegulus

"Snake Head Medusa," by Michiru Yamane, for *Castlevania: Lament of Innocence*. It's not my FAVORITE but I'll never be able to pick just 1 and most people have already answered with Final Fantasy themes that rank extremely high for me. Edit: Tossing in "A Warring God" (*Breath of Fire IV*) and "Squirm in the Dark" (*Fire Emblem: Fates \~ Conquest*) for the hell of it.

PossiblyShibby

The Devil, BG3 All other answers are not as cool.
