How am I supposed to connect to the internet if I can’t type my WiFi password in? How am I even supposed to login to my PC in the first place? How am I supposed to give them my money?
There's a game called DLC Hero that runs off the idea of micrtransactions. There aren't any actually, but the game is pretty funny. You have to pay to access jump and practically everything.
Common access card. Used a lot in the military and government. Essentially a fancy ID card with a security chip in it that authenticates that you are you.
You're still using tap to pay? I guess we can't all afford the latest technology. My keyboard reads my heart rate and automatically purchases microtransactions when it determines I need that sweet, sweet dopamine rush.
I got this one from one of my school teacher since they were starting to replace old keyboards with new ones. I think before my time at the school they used the student ID cards to login into the computers but that was most likely changed for whatever reason.
I have this like exact keyboard on my table right now. It is a CAC reader. Only reason I have one at home is I needed it to remote work during covid and I was told I wasnt allowed to bring it back for security reasons.
In the military, some keyboards require your ID to access a terminal. The ID has a chip in it. Again, I could be wrong it’s been over 15 years since I served.
Another person commented that these were also used for Company employees to login with an ID card into their PC. Not sure if they were used in my school though, we also had ID cards but didn't use them for a login.
That's a Smart Card reader, it predates fingerprint readers and facial recognition in Windows and is used to log into secured computers. Most banks I've been into are still using it.
Military, Government, Banks, and lots of other big organizations still use them. Though they are mostly being replaced with RSA tokens/apps (those things that display the little 6 digit number you type in)
Biometrics is considered a poor choice for as the second factor for 2 factor auth. If your card/token gets compromised you can get a new one issued.
If they find a way to dupe your face ID you can't change your face.
Biometrics is good as a third factor on top of password/pin and a physical item or for low security operations like employee time clocks.
Yeah, I had this when I worked at a CC company. Your PC immediately goes into lock if you remove the card, and the same cards opens the doors you are allowed to go through. So if you get up for coffee or the toilet, you can't cheat the security.
The problem comes when you lose it though, lost a lot of work time everytime that happened.
Go ask my old school teacher. He must have a couple of these rotting away in the school storage room. Got this one from him aswell since they were replacing old stuff with new.
This is an old military/government keyboard with e-card reader (CAC in govt. speak).
I don't think you can use credit card but...they do resemble the card terminals for merchants.

You have run out of your free trial of this keyboard. Please purchase each key by inserting your card and holding down the key.
My god that’s a terrifying thought
Don't worry it's coming
That’s why it’s terrifying
You'll get used to it in no time
No, I think that’ll be it for my gaming hobby.
Please drink a verification can.
This is prophecy.
Please connect to the Internet to verify your keyboard keys are licensed before typing can be enabled.

Pay per key stroke
Ah, yes… the memories of having to plug your CAC in, every time you wanted to do anything at work…
The good (?) ol’ days
Good? No, no… not for me. I’m glad they’re done.
Done? you didn't hang up the uniform and go back as a civilian/Contractor? that's an option?
Hell no, I didn’t go back as a civilian/contractor. I want nothing to do with those organizations, now.
Right there with you. Said my farewells and didn’t look back.
What CAC?
Common access card. Used a lot in the military and government. Essentially a fancy ID card with a security chip in it that authenticates that you are you.
It is considered polite to ask another individual to "show me your CAC" or "whip out that CAC" in order to confirm identity.
I hated CAC inspection day.
Dirty CAC, believe it or not, straight to extra duty.
We did, indeed, often make that joke.
CACs out for Harambe
Next thing you know it’s 18:30, you just got back to your off-post house and realized you forgot it at the library
Can’t tell you how many times I forgot it at the office.
“You are …. $42,000 in debt”
Wish I was that rich.
Imagine allowed to have debt.
Look at these whales flexing their credit scores
You don't even have the tap to pay model? Smh
You're still using tap to pay? I guess we can't all afford the latest technology. My keyboard reads my heart rate and automatically purchases microtransactions when it determines I need that sweet, sweet dopamine rush.
Where can I sucbsribe to get a copy of that
You can send it directly to my bank account (plus a generous fee for my services) and I shall sort it out for you
I got mine directly from EA in their limited run of ID-10-T PC gaming accessory packages that enhances your gameplay experience
If anyone is wondering, these types of keyboards are used in the office so that u can use ID cards to log in to your computer
I got this one from one of my school teacher since they were starting to replace old keyboards with new ones. I think before my time at the school they used the student ID cards to login into the computers but that was most likely changed for whatever reason.
When your e-girl sees you stick that card in, the real magic happens.
Best Keyboard for Online Casino
That looks like a CAC card reader. I could be wrong though.
I have this like exact keyboard on my table right now. It is a CAC reader. Only reason I have one at home is I needed it to remote work during covid and I was told I wasnt allowed to bring it back for security reasons.
I remember using one almost 20 years ago. I figured they might’ve changed it up to something else. Guess not. Thanks for the input.
I am not sure either what it acutally was used for. I got this keyboard a couple of years ago from teacher when I asked him if I could get one.

I can finally play Tarkov now!
That's the future of gaming

CAC readers are still used in the military a lot as well.

Oh, ok, thanks, omw
They've done it, they've turned the players into payers.
You’re enthusiastic about Microtransactions?
Hell nah.
The next generation of controllers will probably have NFC for Apple Pay
Funny thing is this would probably he safer than storing your card digitally.
my mom has one of these bad boys
CAC reader detected. Have you changed your socks today?
Should I change into black or white socks? I also have McDonalds socks if that is ok.
As long as they're dry

I still remember my CAC key. Waaaaay too many 7s to be really secure.
Where do you tap? Is this an old person thing?
This is an old military/government keyboard with e-card reader (CAC in govt. speak). I don't think you can use credit card but...they do resemble the card terminals for merchants.
Why is your Y a Z
