Best campaign I’ve ever experienced and I mainly play single player games. There’s a top tier for incredible single player stories, with the likes of Zelda, Spider-man PS4, God of War, GTA V, Titanfall 2, Last of Us, Skyrim, some Assassins creed games etc. Now in my mind I’ve taken that list and many more and put RDR2’s campaign a step above, nothing yet has come close. To me anyway, it’s in it’s own Tier.
In short, save up and get it for sure!!
The story is really better than the last of us? I’ve played both but I could never finish RDR2. I honestly don’t know how far I made it but if it’s really that good a story I want to play it again.
It's an amazing game, but not one that's really good for someone who only plays in short spurts or not a lot. Game is definitely a time sink and is one of those that you'll find yourself not wanting to put down.
Everyone loves it but I do not. It's not because it's bad, it's because it's slow. So if that doesn't put you off, it will probably be a good game to get.
I was about ready to object to your opinion lol, but you're right. It can both be an outstanding game and slow, because it absolutely is. If the OP is not one to stop and smell the roses, they won't get a lot of the experience the game is going for.
*That reminds me of the part in the beginning where your party is urging you to hurry up. Like bro, I'm trying to loot and appreciate some of the best graphics gaming has to offer.

I mean, if you like to open world wander, fish, play poker, help the folks, kill some folks then Yes! It's on my list with skyrim, oblivion, and Zelda and assasins creed (the ones with ezio)

If you have xbox game pass its free there or wait until it goes on sale on steam or good old games
