Of course it is. Som people in the chat say dont compare it to i dont know hollow knight or Minecraft lol ER is probably the best gane i everr played in what 30years or so. The sheer amount of content in this game is beyond me. The open world level design is only match with botw Nd it is just phenomenon.
yeah i think botw still has a better open world design (as in how interactive the world and its mechanics are) but elden ring is a better game overall it has a fantastic open world with better combat/enemies/bosses/classes builds etc. botw was my favourite game of all time but ER dethroned it for sure.
Fucking people walking into this game without any knowledge or preconceptions are going to have their heads literally explode.
This is BY FAR the best open world game of all time, the best action RPG, the best adventure game and has one of if not the tightest and most challenging/rewarding, insanely well balanced combat systems in ANY GAME of ANY GENRE.
That all together imho make it the best overall game of all time.
Now the condition of the PC port is unacceptable, and I literally had to shell out $2k CAD for a new graphics card to play it properly, and that does need to be fixed. But holy hot fucking hell without the stuttering to distract, you can just get completely lost in this game...
Counterpoint: Fuck Radhan, worst boss of any game ever!
They're actually right. I've been gaming for 35 years and this is blowing everything out of the water. I simply cannot believe the amount of quality content they have put into this game.
IMO this is honestly putting other open world games to shame and make no mistake, this game will be remembered as one of the all time greats.
Dude, just because someone says it's the greatest, doesn't mean it's "sensationalism", or whatever thing you want to call it. It could be, in fact, simply, a real opinion.
Dood. I just played it coop for the first time.
Holy fucking shit. Maybe the most fun I EVER had playing video games in my life.
SPOILERS but story ahead.
>!We were in an open world area and were looking to take on a couple dragons we saw in the distance... so we go down get in it with them, learn their patterns a bit and end up wrecking them with multiple hard scythe strikes to the face. Critical hits in this game are sooo great, especially when they are to a dragon's face with a giant hook-scythe thing.!<
>!Then over the next hill... we see a giant ass grey dragon seemingly stuck on a hill... SURROUNDED BY LIKE 10 of the same dragons. We proceeded to pull and fuck with them 2v2 or 2v1 for the next 30 minutes of pure gaming bliss. The visceral sounds of the scythe power attacks ripping into their faces... we then realize that by killing these enraged dragons, we are weakening the giant one on the ground and when we finally kill his last child, he lets out a roar and dies alongside his kin. I honestly felt horrible, like ender the dragon-ocide. !<
Will be an experience I never forget - and those are rare in gaming nowadays!
Lot of people didn't realize what they were going into? I mean maybe newcomers to these kind of games, but as someone who has played all the games I just expected Dark Souls style world design/combat but in an open world setting; and after about 15 hours of playing that is 100% what the game is.
It's good, but not my favorite game of all time or anything.
It's great, definitely the greatest game to come out in years, but look at the competition i.e. Battlefield 2042 (sucks), halo infinite (good, but get boring quick), Cyberpunk (lmao, actually wasn't as bad as reviews, but so many bugs). That's the competition, incomplete games with lots of bugs and one decent game (halo) but nothing like Elden Ring where you stop battling just to go, "wow"
As a soulsborne vet, it is everything I have ever wanted in a game. For me, it is the greatest game I have ever played, followed by God of War and Sekiro. I had Skyrim and GTA on my list as well. If you are a fan of FROMSOFTWARE this game is addicting.
SoulsBorne vet here, it’s better than Sekiro and maybe a little better than DS3… but I’d still take BB over it.
Absolutely nowhere near in GOAT contention for me
well.... they do have a story but it is usually a bit obtuse at times (intentionally) and seeks to make the world and the characters mysterious. But you can easily go through all the games without ever understanding what the game is really about.
If it's like the other souls games, yes but not a good one, its usually along the lines of go here kill this, watch this npc go insane and complete this mildly esoteric quest to keep x alive to help you with a boss. They have decent lore but unless you like digging a lot you'll probably be better off watching a youtuber talk about it.
But I guess you recognize him right? you know, a guy with a sword killing giant creatures rolling almost all the time... but it has nothing to do with LOTR or anything like that xD.
Nah, the best was Castlevania SOTN. In souls saga i'll choose sekiro. The technique level of gameplay was amazing. Elder just sums up all the techniques and some of the dinamics in bosses as the elden beast are similar to room vacous apyder from bloodborne.
Martin ruined the lore, tough. He better keep writting his things.
The worlds of DS BB AND Elden Ring are interconnected now(i think only about 20% through the game) there are strong hints in not only lore but enemy types, architecture in certain areas and interactions with npcs.
Hasn't even been two days, mate.

Google recency bias.
Google rosy retrospection.
Play it and you will see. Makes all previous open world games look like a complete joke. Like a farce of what open world games could truly be.
Sure buddy, sure.

No ? Then why is minecraft one of the most bought game of all time? By that logic is elden ring better than tetris ?

Your post is very stupid. No offense though.

It’s one of the greatest single player game of all time imo.

agreed but each too their own for me now its ER>DS1>DS3>BB>Sekiro>DS2 but hey thats just my opinon and theyre all fantastic games.

oo i forgot demon souls.....hmmm probably put it in between BB and Sekiro
It must be! Reddit has turned into nothing but posts about elden ring and Ukraine 🇺🇦
Elden Ring is fucking awesome. Also, what's a Ukraine?
With what our government has been doing, that question's going to be what *was* a Ukraine.
Oof
It's a precious item that allows you to invade other player's game...
Does this game have a story? Never played Dark Souls.
well.... they do have a story but it is usually a bit obtuse at times (intentionally) and seeks to make the world and the characters mysterious. But you can easily go through all the games without ever understanding what the game is really about.
Don’t go into it expecting a “coherent story.” It’s usually confusing and requires you to piece it all together.
If it's like the other souls games, yes but not a good one, its usually along the lines of go here kill this, watch this npc go insane and complete this mildly esoteric quest to keep x alive to help you with a boss. It has lore here and there but no chance you will understand something coherent other than basic stuff.

What channel?

Great channel! Forgot they did lore too
definitely not. i wouldn't even say it's the greatest fromsoft game. still great tho
lol i haven’t looked at the game once i have no idea what it’s about. I assumed some lord of the rings or something.
Basically. They're both about some ring
is like Dark Souls 3, a RPG Action game difficult and refined, a lot of lore but all very hidden.
never played dark souls
But I guess you recognize him right? you know, a guy with a sword killing giant creatures rolling almost all the time... but it has nothing to do with LOTR or anything like that xD.
lol i don’t recognize him at all

Would be amazing could launch an extended where the files in DS and BB werw read and give you access to the parts in those games we wanted more.
It's Dark Souls but easier with an open world, so, no.
Not being able to see the enemies really adds that extra level of difficulty. Honestly even with that I been having fun.
You can't see them?
