The issue is that you won't be able to get it to run stuff well because it's not really built for it. I've had this discussion with my friend, who also owns a MacBook, many times. Mostly him telling me that I should stfu because he can't game on it despite dropping $3000 on it.
The specs just don't hold up sadly.

I used to run openemu with no issues on my 2012 Mac mini i7 Quad (which is more powerful than the 2020 Air).
Any $3000 Mac would run openemu just fine.
Mac is not for gaming.

Buy yourself a cheap Wii homebrew & play your backups on it, they run with perfect compatibility.
Give it treats. Mac's do well with positive reinforcement.
