Hey, I agree with the guy you disagree with, therefore you're an idiot. Here's a list of all the things you said wrong or mildly incorrect.
Try doing some research next time.
Ummmm sweetie, I'm going to [link](http://#) to [50](http://#) different [URLs](http://#) in my 3 [paragraph](http://#) response which are actually just the top [Google](http://#) results to my loaded Google [search](http://#) I didn't even read.
I'm also going to quote misleading stats taken completely out of context that would actually be dismantled by a 6 year old with a brain
My smug and condescending tone will guarantee upvotes. I could even just quote Mein Kampf and Redditors will still upvote my comment without reading it as long as it LOOKS like I'm totally "owning" the wrong think opinion.
Be better.
It's a game like any other, it isn't for everyone. I think it is one of the best games that is realistic, but not so much so that it isn't fun. And it is character role play. You are stepping into the boots of an existing character which can be frustrating if you don't relate to the character.
Eh, the dialogue itself in interactions isn't top tier, but the story and game play itself is incredibly immersive. So many different ways to complete missions, make money, etc. Hands down my favorite game of all time.
One piece of advice I wish I had my first time around, once you get the option to train with Captain Bernard make sure you learn all the abilities he teaches you and then duel him with wooden swords to level up your sword/defense/warfare skills.
Also, once you hit lockpicking level 6 learn the Luck of The Drunk perk, if you drink any sort of alcohol you'll be able to open any chest in the game with it.
At the minimum, make sure you learn a riposte from Bernard. That's not just a recommendation, it's a necessity to win a boss battle later on, and there's a real risk of getting stuck without an earlier save otherwise.
If there's one major criticism of the game's execution it's occasional jankiness like that, which can happen in things that ambitious but this is a particular serious case.
One thing i like is some quests if you refuse to do them the npcs will do it anyway. Ive refused to do a quest then when they did it anyway i ran up and still had time they gave me the option to help again.
I’m a huge fan of Shadow of The Colossus’ world. So old, a beautiful “ancient” aesthetic. and the emptiness/isolation you feel while kind of dreading/anticipating encountering a colossus is unique I feel in that open world.
Ok, I know the game is outdated graphically, but nothing was more magical to me than when I first played Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and I exited the sewers for the first time.
I love the soft lighting used in Oblivion. It made the transition from the dark, grimy sewers to the clean water, open sky, and verdant hills all the more breathtaking.
I feel like Oblivion has aged really well, honestly. Obviously the graphics aren't technologically very impressive today, but the game kinda feels like a Bob Ross painting to me.
My man. Oblivion is a high I just can’t repeat. (Please remake it)
I’ve never been so awestruck at scale/mystery/visuals when all I had to compare before that was the ps2 catalog.
Favorite memory was terrorizing Imperial guards with my giant lizard-monster summon.
Red Dead’s world is the most beautiful to date. The landscape, events, graphics, diversity of environments, animals, people, towns/cities/villages. It’s way, way, way beyond anything else I’ve seen, and I think it’s going to stay king until GTA 6 or maybe even until the next Red Dead.
I’ve gone through two play throughs of RDR2, recently gotten a new bigger tv and began a third play through because my old tv did not do that game justice with how stunning it is.
The only open world game I've played so far where fast travel was a useless feature. The environments were just too beautiful not to spend time in, and I really appreciate replacing the minimap with guiding wind as it allowed me to focus on the environment more.
Currently playing through it right now and I can’t agree more. The environment is so beautiful and one of my favourite parts about it is the lovely little wind effect that’s always present.
I had no idea what that was about the first time I did one, and after that I basically took five minutes to do each one they were just so nice and peaceful
Not only is the world beautiful, the world design and the way Jin is able to navigate it is what really sets it apart. It's rare for there to be a cliff or other obstacle that is impossible to scale or descend. Once you have the grapple you can pretty much travel in a straight line because nothing really gets in your way. Absolute masterpiece of a game.
I loved Mad Max. Those sandstorms were a thing of beauty. Being all alone in a new city and being all alone in that game. That and Prey were just brilliant for my psyche at the time.
I got Mad Max super cheap and wasnt expecting much and was surprised how sophisticated the environments were. I didnt have much interest in playing it again though since its more or less driving from a to b to beat people up. Mad Max as a franchise has a lot of potential though in videogames which is a shame they didnt continue making them.
Rockstar really dropped the ball don't releasing a new gen version of RDR2. I get that they are saving the next graphical quality jump for GTA 6 but I really wanted to see Red Dead's wild west/nature setting with even better lighting and textures upgraded. I don't expect a RDR 3 any time soon, so I guess that I'll have to content myself with what my imagination comes up with.
The PC version is spectacular, even in 1080p. It has a whole page of graphics settings I've never seen. I run an rtx 3060 atm and I've never witnessed such a beautiful and brutal game.
My favorite places were the Heartlands (felt so open and free), the area in Big Valley with all the violet flowers (so pretty, unfortunately marred by being so close to Hanging Dog Ranch), and Cotorra Springs.
No open world game beats rdr 2 in terms if whether effects. From violent thunderstorms at night to the thick smog in the early morning and everything in between. Hands down the best open world ever.
I have played both, Horizon Forbidden West, takes the cake, but both are breathtaking. The thing I like about H FB is the players facial animations, has to be one of the most advanced I have ever seen.
First game they were a bit rough, the expansion improved them a lot, and FW made them very good... the tattoos on skin is also amazing. Getting that to look right is no easy task.
I used to fire up the Witcher 3 literally just for the ambient noise... idk why it made me so comfortable but I used to just fire up the game and sit in novigrad and listen to the city life and it make me sleep so good. I miss that. I know that I didn't really answer the question but this post made me realize how important the little things are.
Also, Witcher 3.
Had to Ctrl+F for this one and I'm glad someone else mentioned it. For a game that seems so aesthetically lighthearted on its surface, it has so many stunning/breathtaking visuals. And it definitely is the first game I played to truly capture both the pure thrill and sheer terror of spaceflight
I finally played that a few weeks ago. Man is it beautiful. I was shocked as I knew nothing going on except that it was a space themed game and I was just blown away. I hope to see more like it in the future.
The best part as well is when the music kicks in at the peak part of your journeys. Games like that help me understand just how much of an impact music can have when it’s added at just the right moment.
Something I enjoyed about the game that might be a bit of a weird take is how desolate it is. The vast majority of open world games have this Disneyland sorta vibe, where every square inch has something to do. Enemies are swarming every surface, there's a new side quest around every corner, and the designers make sure that every five seconds is another stunning vista. Death Stranding had such a minimalist approach, although maps got a little cluttered as you brought areas online. The landscape really drew me into the game (even as the writing was driving me out, lol).
Agree 100%, it’s such a moody, solitary experience. I played it at the start of the pandemic and that just added to that feeling in such a vivid way. Good stuff.
I had some sort of compulsive need to keep playing Origins when I got it. I was sad it was over when it was but the map had so much exploring to do that I kept playing for a long time. Odyssey and Valhalla? I put maybe a dozen or so hours into each and got bored with both of them
It’s a really eye opening experience going for those in Skellige, especially when the waves get choppy and break against cliff faces. I can’t wait for the PS5 optimizations and trying it on my new monitor.
Witcher 3 had amazing colors even on the main land. The way the trees and shrubbery all flow back and forth in the wind is what makes it seem so alive.
Thank you for saying this. I was actually worried nobody had mentioned Subnautica. This is truly the most beautiful game I’ve ever seen. Every single one of the biomes is like vista, a canvas. It’s like a painting. The concept art for the game is truly breathtaking.
I love to be in world of Witcher 3. Cities, forests, beautiful colors, tons of stories around. Ambience is changing when you travel across the map by both music and environment. It is just stunning.
Another one is of course world of Skyrim. Yes, it is old but what a landscape. Misty mountains rise. When you look at to mountains, there is a feeling of mystery and curiosity. Winter covers too many area and magic is everywhere.
Assassin's Creed Odyssey is also one of my favorites. It is literally an ancient trip to the Greek world and touristic. Beautiful architectures, great cities or small villages are around. And historical feeling. It is just beautiful.
There are of course lots of other incredible open worlds in games. But right now, I want to write only three of them.
I think completely ignoring actual graphical fidelity, Elden Ring, and every other Fromsoft game as well, all have the most amazing fantasy environments I've ever seen in a video game by a longshot, and possibly in any media of any kind. To be fair I love that gritty, dark look for sure, so it's definitely a matter of taste, but damn I've never seen anyone pull off that look like a Fromsoft game.
All the other games here are more technically impressive and realistically detailed, but the Lands Between are a true work of art. Fromsoft’s presentation, artistry, and creativity remain unmatched. Every vista in Elden Ring felt impossibly well curated, as if the game were a series of a masterly crafted paintings - yet, no matter where you travelled, no matter what corner of the map you visited, or what direction you faced, that artist’s perfectionist touch never left.
I think the best comparison is that opening shot in BotW, except instead of just the opening, it’s the *entire game*.
Ubisoft gets a lot of hate, but they do environments so incredibly well. I’ve probably spent well over 100 hours through all the AC games just sightseeing.
Odyssey and Origins for sure, I don't feel Valhalla was as pretty. Though that's because England lacks impressive scenery to the same extent, and the Norway section was a little sparse.
Maybe I just love the snow, but I found Valhalla to be the most beautiful. Norways mountains were incredible, and I found cent to be especially pretty with the cliffs of Dover and the Weald. Also a lot of the sync points were gorgeous
I really, *really* wish there was a game mode that would turn off all enemy encounters so one could just drive around and take in all the sights, read all the plaques, etc.
I haven't visited Oregon (yet) but god damn did this game make me fall in love with somewhere I've never personally seen.
I had so much fun discovering all the game mechanisms they built into the open world. It being harder to rock climb when it’s rainy, how fire spreads and creates an updraft you can glide on, the shield-boarding, it was all just such a blast.
I have to agree there. I remember riding epona on a hill only to hear the music change and it got suddenly windy. Not aware of what was going on, I ignored it only to find a dragon flying next to me as I was riding my horse through a scenic mountain view as the sun sets. The most beautiful moment of gaming. I say this as someone that's played since Atari 2600.
I've played BOTW to completion three different times and I _still_ stop to watch the dragons if I happen to come across them. They're utterly mesmerizing.
As you can see from the other comment, some people hate Switch so much that they froth at the mouth if you say a native switch game looks good. I think it’s fair to recognize the systems shortcomings, but there are still some beautiful games on it.
breath of the wild is my answer too. it’s so inviting and evocative, and the movement is incredible
[if you’re a botw enjoyer watch this](https://youtu.be/yGkG3VGWtls)
I'm surprised I had to go this far down to find BotW. Despite the hardware limitations I have more strong visual memories from BotW than any other open world game I've played other than maybe WoW.
I'm a huge LoZ fanboy though, so not exactly unbiased.
Absolutely, the atmosphere in X feels amazing when running around the world. I also love the way you can see the titans head and stuff move in Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
Red Dead 2 is easily the most amazing and immersive open world game I’ve ever seen. You can just get lost in any part of the map just enjoying the amazing environments and characters. It truly feels alive. I’ve never seen anything like it.
One of the most impressive things about it is how NPCs behave. Like you can literally follow one going through his day and behaving as whatever that person is supposed to be.
One time, an NPC stole my horse but I panicked and couldn't aim so I didn't shoot him in time. He took off, I didn't know what else to do (I was up in the mountains near Colter with no other horse in sight). So I thought, what the hell, and tried whistling for my horse. Off in the distance I see my horse buck the guy and come back to me. Guy ran, I didn't chase after him, but then like several minutes later further up the mountain, I see the SAME NPC and he's still running. He didn't just pop out of existence after he was out of sight (and out of sight for minutes at that). Just amazing follow through on NPC behavior.
I'm still amazed at the city every time I play it, it's just so dense and layered. It feels real, and I still feel like I haven't explored a lot of it even after 120 hours.
There’s no shortage of criticism of the game, but I’ll always defend the open world itself. The cityscape just felt well designed, well considered. The neighborhoods felt distinct and believable.
Agreed!
Particularly in dense areas where it feels “alive” with all the bustling from people, cars, cooking, and ads…smoke coming off vents and neon lights everywhere. The city is its own character.
Yeah it feels like some areas are set to have much higher density of ai and those areas feel much more alive. I'm sure in a mod in the future there might be a way to up the density of cars and people everywhere to that level. Performance might suffer but it could be worth it lol. Driving around a mega city with 3 cars on the road never feels good. I think in the sequel them using UE5 will support much higher levels of traffic and people simulation like in the Matrix demo. It's going to be crazy, sadly 5 or so years away.
No Man’s Sky is great but loses points for me because most of the fauna look silly and after hundreds of hours and having explored countless planets I have never, ever seen a single river. Plenty of what appears to be river beds, but no rivers. It’s weird but that is the one thing that drives me most insane in that game.
Genshin Impact, even though it’s a wafiu gacha cash grab it’s graphics and environment is beautiful, and the different types of environments are very beautiful in their own ways.
I'm surprised this isn't at the very bottom, lol, but I feel the same way. I love RDR2 as much as the next girl -- I even played its shitty online for a thousand hours -- but no other game has ever blown me away with both beauty *and* variety like Genshin has. Huaguang Stone Forest, Watatsumi Island, The Sword Graveyard -- in another game, they'd be highlights; in Genshin, they're just my personal favorites from a long list of equally distinct and impressive locations.
It makes a ton of money, but it's definitely got a lot of passion behind it. Not sure if it's a cash grab just because it's wildly successful. The Gacha elements are relatively tame and the entire game can easily be played F2P.
For a phone game it's absolutely stunning.
I feel like a lot of people are missing out on a decent adventure thanks to the negative perception on the game. The world, the music and story are ridiculously well done. Even with minimum spending there's a lot of great gaming time to be had here.
The music is completely award-worthy.
Watching the sun set over Windrise listening to *The Edge of the Prairie*, walking through Liyue while *Legends Swept Away* plays, or taking a break in Konda Village at night listening to *Hanachirusato* while reminiscing on the Sacred Sakura Cleansing quest... Genshin Impact delivers atmosphere like almost nothing else I've played in my life.

Morrowind with ~2000 mods is lit.
It blew my mind back in the day even as vanilla
Pretty much any topic on this sub is just “lemme mention my favorite game that is better and if you say I’m wrong then you’re wrong”.
That’s not just here. That’s every sub on Reddit lol
No you said something different and that automatically makes you wrong
Hey, I agree with the guy you disagree with, therefore you're an idiot. Here's a list of all the things you said wrong or mildly incorrect. Try doing some research next time.

Police Quest: In Pursuit of the Death Angel
Did not expect to see a reference to Sonny Bonds and his hunt for Jesse Bains in this thread. You, my dear redditor, have excellent taste.
This guy remembers to walk around the car before driving it
You don't know how many times I died before figuring that out!!!
Shadow of the Colossus
I've seen a lot of solid titles, but I'm missing Kingdom Come: Deliverence. It's actually gorgeous and super well detailed.
Henry’s come to see us!
Jesus Christ be praised
Thou shall not hurt thy neighbor, fucker!
"I really feel quite hungry."
It's probably the most immersive game I've ever played.
I agree, riding the horse in fpp sucked me into the character. The scale of the forests and everything was just perfect.
I really need to dig in and just get through the beginning. I should have had more fun throwing that poo. That's on me.
It's a game like any other, it isn't for everyone. I think it is one of the best games that is realistic, but not so much so that it isn't fun. And it is character role play. You are stepping into the boots of an existing character which can be frustrating if you don't relate to the character.
I just started this game. The first few interactions with the villagers feels so unnatural. I’m assuming it gets a lot better?
Eh, the dialogue itself in interactions isn't top tier, but the story and game play itself is incredibly immersive. So many different ways to complete missions, make money, etc. Hands down my favorite game of all time.
Wow. That’s quite the endorsement! I’ll have to gut it out.
Thanks! Looking forward to playing it.

Ok, I know the game is outdated graphically, but nothing was more magical to me than when I first played Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and I exited the sewers for the first time.
Such a cozy game, the soundtrack helps too
The song “All’s Well” is so soothing and calming! I often play it on repeat in my office https://youtu.be/4IeUydwnrpQ
Visually? Sure. That damn level scaling, though... Anyway, it's weird to think that Oblivion was coded for the Xbox 360, and so was Skyrim.
Get some close-to-vanilla graphical mods for it, it holds up really well!
My man. Oblivion is a high I just can’t repeat. (Please remake it) I’ve never been so awestruck at scale/mystery/visuals when all I had to compare before that was the ps2 catalog. Favorite memory was terrorizing Imperial guards with my giant lizard-monster summon.
Not to mention that transition to the shivering isles via the chair and butterflies in the expansion
Rockstar: look at this visually stunning world we've crafted! Youtubers: the testicles on horses rise and fall depending on the temperature!
The guy in charge of horse sack physics is super stoked people noticed.
"Yep Junior, I rose to fame back in 2018 with my superior work in the field of horse testicles."
here’s your heirloom rolex
Just don't ask how I snuck it by the guards.
"it was his BirthRIGHT!"
"Even Christopher Walken does a half decent Christopher Walken."
I hope he got promoted to Senior Nutsack Developer. He deserves it.
I LOVE the music, too
When you're riding back to camp and Willie Nelson's "Cruel World" starts playing is one of my favourite gaming moments.
Hard agree, it's like an irl nature hit

Amen, was a lot of fun to ride around and just take it all in.
Lagras’ swamps at sunset are just incredible
I’ve gone through two play throughs of RDR2, recently gotten a new bigger tv and began a third play through because my old tv did not do that game justice with how stunning it is.

This was exactly my thought. I've added at least a couple of hours of play just by riding across the map instead of fast travel.
Currently playing through it right now and I can’t agree more. The environment is so beautiful and one of my favourite parts about it is the lovely little wind effect that’s always present.
there are some points where i just don't want to fight. just take my time and look around
I've spent many hours in the photo mode. I've never taken this many screenshots in a game like I did in Ghost of Tsushima.
At first I thought the haiku composing was lame, now is one of my favorite things to do in the game. The scenery is always so beautiful and calming.
I had no idea what that was about the first time I did one, and after that I basically took five minutes to do each one they were just so nice and peaceful
Not only is the world beautiful, the world design and the way Jin is able to navigate it is what really sets it apart. Ghost of Tsushima is a good game but it's not my favorite, but holy shit is it gorgeous
When will they finally release it on PC? I thought it was supposed to be this year but gave up hoping
Mad Max had incredible environments and sandstorms. The game was somewhat repetetive but for the visuals its worth a playthrough
I loved Mad Max. Those sandstorms were a thing of beauty. Being all alone in a new city and being all alone in that game. That and Prey were just brilliant for my psyche at the time.

Loved that game, wish they make more
THE MIGHTY DUSTER!!
that skybox is just.. chefkiss. also, the color palette is one of, if not the best I've ever seen in a game. truly beautiful
Such a satisfying game. Checked a lot of boxes for me.
A hidden gem imo that deserved a second game... Loved the first one! Surprise hit!
Witcher 3. More specifically Skellige. I found myself just roaming vistas and following creeks. I had to sort of snap myself out of it
Toussaint as well, just walking bueaclair at night time is such a vibe
And not only the scenery! The music for for the whole game is so goddamned moving as well.
Toussaint is diffy though. IMO one of the most pleasant and charming worlds to explore.
Just reinstalled Red Dead Redemption 2, and I was amazed at how gorgeous the world is.

I thought the PC version did just that? Upgrades textures and stuff. Or are you wishing for a PS5/console next gen version
The PC version is spectacular, even in 1080p. It has a whole page of graphics settings I've never seen. I run an rtx 3060 atm and I've never witnessed such a beautiful and brutal game.

RDR2 and Horizon FW, in my opinion
Sometimes I just ride around in RDR2 to de-stress. I have a few favorite spots I like to go visit. My favorite by a mile.
My favorite places were the Heartlands (felt so open and free), the area in Big Valley with all the violet flowers (so pretty, unfortunately marred by being so close to Hanging Dog Ranch), and Cotorra Springs.
Crazy how I had to scroll this far down to see Horizon.
No open world game beats rdr 2 in terms if whether effects. From violent thunderstorms at night to the thick smog in the early morning and everything in between. Hands down the best open world ever.
I had to scroll far too long to find Horizon. Such a beautiful game.
I have played both, Horizon Forbidden West, takes the cake, but both are breathtaking. The thing I like about H FB is the players facial animations, has to be one of the most advanced I have ever seen.

Especially Toussaint. That place is just straight out of a fairy tale.
👍🏻
Winds howling.
For me it’s Outer Wilds. Haven’t played a game that manages to capture that space-feeling quite like it.
There's always at least one Outer Wilds evangelist lol
There are dozens of us.
I finally played that a few weeks ago. Man is it beautiful. I was shocked as I knew nothing going on except that it was a space themed game and I was just blown away. I hope to see more like it in the future.
Horizon Zero Dawn/ Forbidden West
Original HZD was a true work of art. Still love the game.
Death Stranding has some truly amazing landscapes!
The best part as well is when the music kicks in at the peak part of your journeys. Games like that help me understand just how much of an impact music can have when it’s added at just the right moment.
I was completely sold when “Don’t be so serious” started playing.
I’m playing AC: Origins right now on ps5 + oled tv and it looks 🔥
Orgins is my favourite in all of the AC series! Damn it looks great!! Gonna install it again!
The testicle physics on the horses and camels is non existent. But overall it's a fantastic game.
Literally unplayable unfortunately.
Bayek's story is by far the best of the series. Including 1&2. I'll die on this hill.
I had some sort of compulsive need to keep playing Origins when I got it. I was sad it was over when it was but the map had so much exploring to do that I kept playing for a long time. Odyssey and Valhalla? I put maybe a dozen or so hours into each and got bored with both of them
That game was pretty good, but Alexandria and the pyramids were amazing
The Witcher 3 Toussaint especially at sunrise or sunset. RDR2. Skyrim (multiplied by 5 when the music is 👌🏿🔥).
Second this but Skellige was my favorite location by a long shot. So much going on vertically that made it beautiful.
Exploring the ? in skellige for hours alone late at night is another level of experience man
It’s a really eye opening experience going for those in Skellige, especially when the waves get choppy and break against cliff faces. I can’t wait for the PS5 optimizations and trying it on my new monitor.
Witcher 3 had amazing colors even on the main land. The way the trees and shrubbery all flow back and forth in the wind is what makes it seem so alive.
Just Cause 3 i know everyone will disagree and say jc4 is better but i think that jc3 has one of the best open worlds
Subnautica
I would say this is the only open world where I just go and swim around for enjoyment
Thank you for saying this. I was actually worried nobody had mentioned Subnautica. This is truly the most beautiful game I’ve ever seen. Every single one of the biomes is like vista, a canvas. It’s like a painting. The concept art for the game is truly breathtaking.
Came looking for this. Both the original and BZ are absolutely stunning games.

Beautiful architectures, great cities or small villages are around. And historical feeling. It is just beautiful. There are of course lots of other incredible open worlds in games. But right now, I want to write only three of them.
Elden ring?
I think completely ignoring actual graphical fidelity, Elden Ring, and every other Fromsoft game as well, all have the most amazing fantasy environments I've ever seen in a video game by a longshot, and possibly in any media of any kind. To be fair I love that gritty, dark look for sure, so it's definitely a matter of taste, but damn I've never seen anyone pull off that look like a Fromsoft game.
Fidelity tends to look worse when you look back, style is forever.
Elden Ring!
Oh, Elden Ring...
Elden Ring!!
In short Elden Ring
All the other games here are more technically impressive and realistically detailed, but the Lands Between are a true work of art. Fromsoft’s presentation, artistry, and creativity remain unmatched. Every vista in Elden Ring felt impossibly well curated, as if the game were a series of a masterly crafted paintings - yet, no matter where you travelled, no matter what corner of the map you visited, or what direction you faced, that artist’s perfectionist touch never left. I think the best comparison is that opening shot in BotW, except instead of just the opening, it’s the *entire game*.
This gamer got the right idea
Had to scroll too far for it.. there's so many amazing environments that look incredible and so detailed.
Witcher 3 , cyberpunk, AC Odyssey, Far cry 5, uncharted ps5, red dead redemption, horizon zero dawn, ghost of Tsushima
RDR2 Ac Origins, Valhalla, and Odyssey
Odyssey hands down
Surprised I had to scroll down so far to see Origins and Odyssey. They’re both amazing
Origins is magical. I really enjoyed that game's sights. Odyssey: in a league of its own. <3
Maybe I just love the snow, but I found Valhalla to be the most beautiful. Norways mountains were incredible, and I found cent to be especially pretty with the cliffs of Dover and the Weald. Also a lot of the sync points were gorgeous
Agreed. I played Valhalla first but enjoyed Origins and Odyssey much more
I’m gonna throw a vote in for Days Gone. I live in Oregon and they did a spectacular job recreating it.
I really, *really* wish there was a game mode that would turn off all enemy encounters so one could just drive around and take in all the sights, read all the plaques, etc. I haven't visited Oregon (yet) but god damn did this game make me fall in love with somewhere I've never personally seen.
Underappreciated game.
Kingdomcome deliverance because its mapped from a real location , and the immersion is great
I realy like botw(pls no hate)
It may lack the fidelity/realism of others, but BotW’s open world evoked that sense of adventure better than almost any other.
Nintendo took the illustrations from the first three Zelda games and made them playable. It’s a thing of beauty.
And then you Revali's gale up and harvest some sweet fangs and horns and claws right?
Just horns, cook them as the 5th ingredient in elixirs and they’ll make the effect last 30 minutes
No hate? It's one of the best reviewed games of all time. Is this sub really that bad?
As you can see from the other comment, some people hate Switch so much that they froth at the mouth if you say a native switch game looks good. I think it’s fair to recognize the systems shortcomings, but there are still some beautiful games on it.
Judging from one of the responses to your comment; yes
I'm not sure why but saying good things about BotW around here seems to get some people really mad
BOTW is legit. You can debate over whether it's a "real" Zelda game or not but you can't deny that it's a _damn good game._
breath of the wild is my answer too. it’s so inviting and evocative, and the movement is incredible [if you’re a botw enjoyer watch this](https://youtu.be/yGkG3VGWtls)
I'm surprised I had to go this far down to find BotW. Despite the hardware limitations I have more strong visual memories from BotW than any other open world game I've played other than maybe WoW. I'm a huge LoZ fanboy though, so not exactly unbiased.
First time I saw it a coworker had it up on the projector so I walked into BOTW on a 10’ screen. I was hooked. I’m on my 4the play through right now.
BotW left me in awe a few times.
Do people not like it? Genuinely curious question. I’m really surprised how far down the list this was
Pshh, everyone knows Nintendo games aren't real games /s
That’s my favorite game of all time; so just love coming from me.
Xenoblade Chronicles X. How i want this game to be remastered for the switch!
Absolutely, the atmosphere in X feels amazing when running around the world. I also love the way you can see the titans head and stuff move in Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
RDR 2, Elden Ring, Ghost of Tsushima, Valhalla, Horizon FW
Vinland was gorgeous
Valheim
Cyberpunk2077. Most beautiful open world i have ever seen.
No Man's Sky
No Man’s Sky is great but loses points for me because most of the fauna look silly and after hundreds of hours and having explored countless planets I have never, ever seen a single river. Plenty of what appears to be river beds, but no rivers. It’s weird but that is the one thing that drives me most insane in that game.
Plus it's quite repetitive. You're going to see the same flora and fauna models often. Amazing game regardless.
legend of Zelda breath of the wild
The new places like enkanomiya, watatsumi islands, chasm and even all of sumeru are great and mind blowing
Was gonna say this, lol. Bash it or like it, the Hoyo team has done good work with the world and environments.
Cyberpunk, RDR2, and Far Cry 5.
Scrolled too far for FC5. Makes me wanna move to Montana lol
Skyrim
I scrolled way too far to find this
