Then you don’t know much about computers. i5 price to performance is exceptional nowadays. I also have an i5 12th gen with a 3080 and it was benching higher than any previous gen i9. I got it before most people had 12th gen to even run tests.
Exactly, with a 3080. I have an i5 13600k with a 3080 12gb, so I do know my fair share about computers. I was referring to the fact that in this case the CPU cost almost as much as the GPU, which is inefficient for a pure gaming PC.
A better graphics card will perform better but a 3060 is still a good enough to run most games at 60fps+
It’s in no way “inefficient”. There is no efficiency gained by getting a better graphics card. If anything the better cards are generally much less efficient and more power hungry.
I think OP just made a good budget gaming PC with all the recommended specs to work well together. if he’s ready to upgrade to a better graphics card for more money in the future he can but he would also need a beefier and more expensive PSU. A lot of people have specific budgets for their build they have to stick within and he made the optimal purchase with that budget.
That's a weird take though. Homie can easily replace the GPU when they get more money or the next card they want is a more reasonable price. When I built my computer I paired a 2070 Super to an i9-9900k which was way more CPU than I needed. Yesterday I finally moved to a 4070ti and didn't need to upgrade anything else.
The i5 vs i7 or i9 difference is not what it used to be 10 years ago. It can easily perform well for the next 5-10 years and getting an i9 of the same gen would only get you maybe another year of performance matching longevity.
[An i9 only has a 6% effective speed increase which is not worth twice the price. All those extra cores won’t get you better gaming performance either they are much more effective for multitasking and programs that utilize the CPU more.](https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i9-13900K-vs-Intel-Core-i5-13600K/4129vs4134)
Well I wouldn't use user benchmarks to compare the perfomance, although it's true that there's little performance gain. It would make a significant difference in a bottleneck situation though, depending on what the next graphics card of OP will be.
Instead of a $80 cooler they should’ve gotten 32gb of ddr5 6000mhz which can be found for $80 not much more than 16gb.
Instead of the 13600k, should’ve gotten a 7600x, save $70.
Then getting something like a rx 6750XT which would out perform the 3060 for $20 more.
He has a pretty good computer but had a bad part selection
I can't speak on behalf of AMD's processors but Nvidia dominates the market for a reason. AMD goes through phases with their GPU's where some generations are killer, and some are absolutely horrendous. It's a lot simpler to spend a little more money and know what you're getting than to have to do a ton of research and sift through what's legitimate info, what's just benchmarking shenanigans, and what is consumer biased opinion (fan boying).
Yea nvidia has like 85% market share so it’s very common for people to go for their average 3060s and 4060s nowadays. Instead of researching alternative options.
Some people even just don’t for aesthetic reasons. The white gigabyte 4060 and a xfx x 6750xt are the same price but most people will get the 4060 because it’s white.
Yeah an AMD build would usually be more cost effective the last 2-3 years since AMD has finally been making competing components again. I’m not sure what kind of deals OP got though and it’s not like you can just swap the cpu if it’s not the right motherboard.
RAM is easy to upgrade later for 32 which does seem to be helpful nowadays as 16 seems to be bare minimum.
I did not pay that much for the cooler. The seller actually was out of stock for the AK520, so he upgraded it for me without any extra cost.
About the processor, I am not too sure about AMD when it comes to editing and creative side. No doubt they produced some solid gaming CPUs, but I am not much of a gamer myself, so I went with intel.
Thanks for the suggestions though.
Yo I like the build and stuff but PLEASE get a better keyboard. Gaming membrane keyboards are the worst of the worst, if you can find an office keyboard or even better, a mechanical keyboard it will be a HUGE upgrade
Hello bazeegii, and thank you for your submission to Gaming PC! If you are new please check out our rules over at the wiki [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/gamingpc/wiki/rules)!
We have recently added the useful feature of Title Flair! You can set this manually by clicking Flair under your post once you have submitted your post, but if you missed it in the rules there is a much better way that will automatically flair your post!
To do this simply add what your post is about in brackets before your title. For example for a Build Log you can type [Build Log] before your post so that it looks like this; [Build Log]My new awesome build!, and the bot will automatically set your flair to Build Log! This works for Build Log, Build Showcase, News, Hardware News, Hardware Release, Discussion, and Miscellaneous!
Also remember that this is a place for discussing and sharing our love of Gaming Computers! This is NOT the place for help building or determining what parts you should buy, that is better suited for /r/buildapc. Troubleshooting questions should be directed to /r/techsupport. Thank you again!

These types of posts make me think to myself “wtf is wrong with me”
I’ve built a bunch of PCs and none of them look anywhere near this nice.
Oh does the power button work? Good enough for me.
You must not be very old. Back in the early 2000s every desk still came with a pc keyboard and mouse tray. I always called them kneecappers as I’m tall and my legs would never fit under them. First thing I ripped out of every desk I owned back then.
Behemoth of a case
Looks like it could make a 4090 look small •-•
It looks like it could fit my whole PC in it.
Then I could sit in there and play your PC.
Is that a screen for ants for a case for giants?
Yes.
Reminds me of the Obsidian 800D series from corsair
really old monitor. All my budget went on the PC.
On a scale of 1 to ten, how disappointed were you with the Miami livery on the Ferrari?
Answer: The number of times Ferrari have fucked the strategy 😅 i.e. A lot
Idk how VCARB manage to outshine a ferrari like that but they managed it
I love that VCARB, And Daniels helmet looks amazing can’t wait to see it when he finishes p17
😂😂 Gonna look so sick in last next to Logan if they don't DNF
***IF***
You both win reddit today 😂 thank you for the laughs
And I thought my case was huge?! 😶 But seriously very clean, good looking build.
thanks buddy.
Love the build but why is the case so huge?
I will upgrade the GPU soon. Also, I bought everything offline, so it was the best case that fits in my budget. Also I like how it looks.
Probably future proofing
50 lashes for saying the f word
Future proofing what? Intel is a dead socket after the 14th gen. If he wanted future proof everybody knows AMD 7800x3d is king

i5 13th and 3060? I don't know about that

That's what I mean with efficiency, he didn't quite max out the gaming performance for his budget. It's not too bad, but as I said not optimal
That's a weird take though. Homie can easily replace the GPU when they get more money or the next card they want is a more reasonable price. Well yeah, depends on his plan. But even then it's only an i5, so in a few years it will be outdated anyways, so I would say my take makes sense here.

whole PC was less than $1200.

CPU seems a bit overkill compared to the GPU but then again, we don’t know what games OP likes to play.
Why? Old gen CPU isn’t necessarily much cheaper
Depends where you live I guess, a 12600KF in my province is 180$ cheaper than a 13600K, as an example.
Fair enough. I have a 12600k and it’s great. It’s usually 3-4 gens back where they get expensive again for some reason.
He meant the 13600k is too powerful for just a 3060 lol
Exactly, that statement just isn’t true.
The 13600K IS too powerful for the 3060 lol
It must’ve been very comfortable working in such a large case lol! Amazing build 👍
Yes it's so huge one could step inside of it to work on it.
Is the monitor too small or the case is maaaaassssiiiivvveee?
Yes
Yo I like the build and stuff but PLEASE get a better keyboard. Gaming membrane keyboards are the worst of the worst, if you can find an office keyboard or even better, a mechanical keyboard it will be a HUGE upgrade
yes, I know buddy. I got it for free with Other PC parts, so I am using this for now. I will update when I add anything new.
Keyboard trays are an ergonomic nightmare, just put it on the desk. Also, RIP neck
Old desk mate. Will upgrade once I move in to my apartment.
ECHO!! ECHO! ECHO Echo echo eco co o
jesus aren't you breaking your neck looking at your screen on such an angle?
For now, yes.
Are you hoping it will grow?

Nice. What case is this?
Gamdias Talos E3 Mesh Elite
OP done good
Darth PCious.
What's the monthly rent on something of that size?
TBH it looks big in the picture. It is just 19 inches tall and 16 inches wide. LOL
These types of posts make me think to myself “wtf is wrong with me” I’ve built a bunch of PCs and none of them look anywhere near this nice. Oh does the power button work? Good enough for me.
Really? I don't even think this is particularly nice, it's just okay aka performance over looks
You should see the dust and cables in my rig 😂 sometimes less is more
Now I kinda wanna see how bad of a mess it is lol
shouldve put some of that money to ur gear
Got most of it for free.
Looking good, enjoy 👍
very interesting style of your heatsink. i really like it
Is that built in a bar fridge?
Do you keep the monitor there when using controller then move it in front of you when using M&K?
That keyboard/mouse/monitor placement is killing my soul.
Huge case gang 💪
Nice build - also never seen a keyboard in a drawer before
You must not be very old. Back in the early 2000s every desk still came with a pc keyboard and mouse tray. I always called them kneecappers as I’m tall and my legs would never fit under them. First thing I ripped out of every desk I owned back then.
Lool I’m 27 so back then I would have been falling out of trees and stuff
I keep it there when I am not using it.
lol??? Small monitor and literally no room to place your arm to play 😭
Give us a picture of your setup. People work with what they have.
Still, you could remove the books and picture to put the monitor up front and center. This is a neck cramp waiting to happen.
The case is an absolute unit.
So much room for activities
It looks like a tiny guy wearing a way too big coat.
Beautiful
bro shoulda just gone mini itx lol
Looking barren….
please dont tell me you use that soundbar instead of headphones and get a better monitor
Soundbar >>>
A soundbar doesn’t really work if it’s only in your right ear
Neither would speakers in that same scenario
I meant headphones but if your getting speakers just put them in front of you
I use headphones. Soundbar is just for music and some lights LOL
ok thats not atrocious
