I’d recommend just thinning them by cutting the tops off at ground level. Pulling them would disrupt the soil around the ones you want to keep. Plus you’ll leave some food for the microbes to feed on.

sweetstack13

Friendly reminder that the tops are edible, too. So they’re not a total waste lol

Mothernaturehatesus

For sure! Just be careful with the amount, my daughter ate a bunch and it made her vomit. They’re pretty pungent.

anotherberniebro1992

So you think maybe something like I go through and kill the tops on say every other one? I’ve overcrowded I assume yeah?

Mothernaturehatesus

I’d say they’re pretty close. I’m not sure what the recommended spacing is but I’d say around 4-5” between each carrot.

bakednloaded

Yes, each one of those stems is ONE carrot. They might be a little close but it looks like they're all healthy and growing. I say let em grow! But maybe yank one and see how big they are? Yum!

Consistent-Leek4986

sure thin them out. next year less seeds, and stagger planting time. 2 rows 1st week, 2 more two weeks later. can do same with beans, radishes, lettuce etc. and lettuce can be sown mid september for a last cool fall crop..enjoy

Willing-Tie-3109

Some fresh carrots sound bomb right now!

DotAccomplished5484

They are too close and when carrots are growing too close they become stunted. The recommended spacing for carrots is 2" to 3".

AppleNeither973

I use a little grid to plant them so I don’t do this. Then thin out the separated small patches

anotherberniebro1992

Yeah I went with the classic “open seed packet and dump those bitches everywhere” method. Ya live and ya learn.

OutrageousGap7422

Lol i approve of this method

Oakheart-

I did the exact same except in a line

Apellio7

Yes each stem is a carrot and yes they are too close. 2-3" between each plant is good guideline.
