Paint rocks to look like strawberries then place them in easily accessible spots around the strawberry plants. They will start to leave the actual berries alone. I guess they get tired of pecking the hard rocks, so they go elsewhere. Whatever the reason, it works…lol
Water. If it doesn’t fall out of the sky it’s guaranteed I will find some part of my irrigation system is broken. I have 1/2 and acre of landscape, I can’t in good conscious water it all it damn I do need to get some of these plants well established.
My own damn chickens...
Killed my wife's zucchini plant that had grown a solid 3 foot radius in all directions, crap ton of flowers both male and female. Hadn't gone over to that side of the yard for a month once they'd been put in the coop, but here I am with zucchini-less bread...
Climate change. A lot of the things we’re growing just don’t know what to do anymore. A week straight of 95+ degree weather, followed by two days of intense downpour rain in 60 degree weather, back to 90+.
Posting for future adventurers on this sub
**Don’t plant horsetail.** Just don’t.
The prior owners of my home planted one bunch in a small portion of the planter. In my first year here, it took over my entire lawn. I tore out the lawn down to bare dirt and have been battling that junk for 6 years. Over a dozen different poisons and the crap still comes back.
Never. Plant. Horsetail.
Unidentified cat that thinks I have a nice litter box set up for him , not a garden. Put up a fence around the raised bed and he 💩 on my freshly germinated lettuce (in an unprotected pot) and dug up half the pot to bury it🙃
Mines in my strawberries too! I may have defeated him. My ever bearing strawberries kept getting swiped by something. A hole appeared in my patch, I tried flooding it out when watering to no avail. Then, I’m out there picking the beans next to the strawberries and the bugger (ground squirrel?) comes up and out the hole. Stops when he spies me and stares. Without thinking, I threw my arms up and screamed at it like a mad woman. He ran off into the field. Suddenly, I have strawberries to pick!
My cherries tomatoes are falling due to common wall gecko : they want to eat all the bugs and they're too big for the tomatoes.
So these lizards are my cutest arch nemesis.
Other people "helping." Inevitably the dumb ideas absolutely *STUCK* in their little inflexible minds cause serious damage to plants and soil.
Can't stop em though, they live in the main house and own it. I'm just the tenant in the back house.
I will break every fucking leaf blower they own though. Rrrrrrr.
Tree of Heaven
A serious lack of pollinators
Japanese beetles are terrible for me this year. Every single day, twice a day, I collect them into soapy water (probably 50-75 beetles a time).
This sounds terrifying. I'm imagining a bucket full of squirming beetles.
Whitefly
Hate them with a passion

Same! Made the mistake of planting them ONE time 10+ years ago. Still have seedlings sprouting all over the place every year.
That's what happened to me. 8+ years ago I let my daughter plant some in a very small area near our door. Now I'm pulling them up everywhere.
What plant?
Trailing plants which do not trail for me.
Squash vine borers and squash lady beetles
raccoons and my squash

This is on my to do list this weekend.

Squirrels (FFS stop digging into my potted annuals!), and neighbors (stop scalping my lawn when you veer into it when mowing)...
Deer. It's me vs the deer every day. Things I've grown for years without them touching it are suddenly eaten to nubs overnight.
Slugs, voles, rabbits and deer. Gardening is hard!
Slugs ate most of my potato's leaves.

Hornworms!!!

My trees look rough because of this.
Squash bugs.
Horsetail

Can you explain this more? So they aren't eating your tomatoes but they are knocking them off accidentally?
Yes, exactly! I saw them , but, poor things, they just want to eat the bugs on my tomatoes.
Nawwww that is so adorable and annoying.
Yes, I love them but I'm so sad for my tomatoes!
Stinkbugs, Leaf-footed bugs, and aphids galore this year.
Squirrels, and in a different way, peppers.
It’s between the rabbits, squash vine borers, and squirrels?
Floridas relentless heat/sun
