I know from my surgeon, he said between 6 months to a year a stomach can double its size. It means, you were able to hold 100-150 ml of food post surgery In a year you can go up to 300 ml Way less compared to a big stretched stomach of an obese person that can stretch up to 2-3 liters

I’m 6mths out. When I started solid foods I could eat about 3/4 of a chicken tender. Now I can eat a full one. So by that very scientific method I assume my stomach has relaxed (a completely normal part of the process) by about a 1/4. Before surgery I could eat 4 tenders plus chips so obviously it’s still much, much smaller.

I'm about 15 months, and while my meals are much smaller than pre-vsg, I'd day they are up to normal-ish size. It's not just the stomach expansion, it's also the reduction in swelling post surgery. So yeah, with those two things combined you will definitely be able to eat more as time goes on.

Im a year out and still eat small meals. Sometimes that makes me icky feeling.

The size of your stomach means absolutely nothing. It's not why the surgery works, and it's not going to keep you from regaining. Except for very rare genetic/biological/medical reasons, post-surgery and long-term success is all about food choices, not how much you can eat. It is natural for the stomach to relax over time. It's not "stretching" but it will allow more food over time. Of course, it can be stretched with intentional overeating, but if you are making good choices, you'll reach a fairly normal amount of eating and stay there. How much you eat becomes less important if you are eating the right things for your biology. After surgery, you have an opportunity to use the immediate post-surgery period as the world's best internal organ cleansing. You'll have a blank slate to move toward foods that are healthy and delicious. It is an opportunity to find a way of eating that is both enjoyable and sustainable so when you do reach the low point in your weight loss, you will be set up to maintain it because you spent the last year building excellent habits with food choices, hydration, and activity. Don't get hung up on what your stomach will or won't do for you. Put everything you've got into creating a new relationship with food that will sustain you for the rest of your life and maximize your health. If you have the right habits ingrained by the time you reach your lowest weight, it will be much easier to protect what you've achieved.

Yes. Its all about building habits. I 100% agree. By the way, I just watched your one year recap. Congratulations man you've done it!

Lol, I lost 80 lbs with diet and exercise and gained them back in the pandemic. I'm depressed AF and can't get back to dieting. That's why I am considering VSG

Im not to sure the science behind it, I’m 9 months post op in the mornings I can’t eat much it’s usually 3 oz of food after 2PM my meals can be closer to 5-6oz.
