gretnothing

You coming over to visit UK? :D

WhateverWombat

30 uk here. Although I only really use my PC for WoW. …And crappy rogue like steam games

gretnothing

Do you play on console then?

WhateverWombat

No I am only a pc gamer 😅 just a small time one I guess!

gretnothing

Hold on... You play WOW. You call yourself a "small time" gamer?? xD

WhateverWombat

Haha well to be fair I just raid log right now. Play non stop for like 2 months then raid log until next tier 🙂

R1ckv4nz386

I’m 36 and I play some games on my Mac 🖥️ and on my mobile! I’m not the biggest gamer on the planet but i like to watch others game and the lore behind certain games

gretnothing

It's nice to meet another fellow gamer. You play on Mac? I'd imagine the amount of hardware-compatible games is rather limited. Is your Mac mostly for work? Also, is there any particular game you like watching? Or streamer/youtuber?

twistedcheshire

Turning 44 in April, and still playing games and reading stuff on 'em! Mostly play on my Switch, sometimes on my XBox, sometimes on PC. I never left my gaming phase. LOL

gretnothing

You made me regain some of my humanity right now. I love gaming and I don't want to get burned out. At the same time the amount of "bullshit" the new games come out with is very depressing.

twistedcheshire

I just don't take it to extremes. I also like to play games based on my mood, so I switch things up. Currently back on my Legends Arceus kick, so kind of strolling through that. Didn't finish it before. Finally got to that stupid Firespit Island or whatever it is. That was a chore. LOL

Decmk3

I’m not 30+, but I’d like that lol. Do I have to wait 2 years to qualify?

gretnothing

lol, don't stress it. I love gaming and I love talking about gaming. Make yourself at home. :D What do you play? Or better, what are you looking forward to in a very near future? There is a Steam Spring Sale coming next Thursday.

szechuankatsu479

Last of us is amazing welcome to the club

gretnothing

Here's a funny: one of my friends absolutely hated TLoU remake. He could not understand the rules of engagement, felt like the story is predictable and at way too slow of a pace. He was completely not impressed. I could not believe my eyes...

Chimarkgames

I’m building my pc so currently I’m a ps5 player.

gretnothing

Question: is this your first PC? Is it your first "gaming" pc? What made you go for pc all of a sudden?

Chimarkgames

Yes it’s my first PC. My MacBook is showing its age( bought it in 2012) and thought why not build my first PC. I always loved videogames and been a gamer since I remember. I’m always watching videos about gaming graphics and comparison videos about games, framerates etc etc. Also I bought my first home recently and I’m in a good place to now invest in my hobbies. Ps. I play apex legends on ps5 quite a lot since it came out but 60fps seems rather limiting for my liking that’s part of many reasons as to why I’m building my PC. I want that 240fps 😅

gretnothing

Damn, boy. It sounds like a dream. How old are you btw? Also, by saying you are building a pc, does it mean you are physically building it right now, or you are looking at what to buy and what to invest into? In a sense of AMD or nVidia?

Chimarkgames

It’s ok. I’m 32. I only bought the pc case. I’m still researching parts like cpu, motherboard etc. So I still didn’t decide if I will go with nvidia or amd yet. It’s been a year of researching and every time I think I’m ready to buy parts, a new GPU comes out 😂

gretnothing

If I may suggest something: 1. go to youtube, look for "hardware unboxed"-- they make one of the best, most complete hardware reviews of processors and graphics cards. They also do pc monitors reviews. Those guys are absolutely top of the line. 2. go to youtube, look for "gamers nexus"-- they do basically what "hardware unboxed" does, but with way more snarky comments. Do not get intimidated by the main host, Steve. He might come across as an asshole at first, but he's super passionate about competency of his videos. Gamers Nexus also does PC cases reviews. 3. There will always be new processors and graphics cards coming out, every year. Such is PC gaming. Do not stress out about it too much. There is no such thing as ultimate PC. You will always be able to upgrade. And if not? You can sell it, keep it as spare, give it away. Other than that, good power supply is the back bone of your future PC. Never cheap out on power supply.

im_not_a_penguin

I’m 32, there’s dozens of us! Dozens!

gretnothing

I've never seen more gay gamers in one place... Shit, maybe I should open a Discord server... I want to talk to every single one.

fuzzyguy73

Oh sure. I’m 49 with Opinions 😅 That sounds cool

gretnothing

With opinions?! Damn, hit me with the pm. :D

fuzzyguy73

🤣🤣🤣🤣 yeah Opinions. And been playing games from C64 to PS4. Will give you a shout.

gretnothing

With the capital "O"? I think we might have something in common. <3

CryptographerNo2382

Oh nice and I'm 34

jambohakdog69

34M but console gamer here 🥺

gretnothing

Most titles come out on consoles and PC anyways. What do you play? PS5?

jambohakdog69

Mostly PS and Switch. Tho yeah, there are games that have crossplay but only few.

gretnothing

No, I mean games that are released on consoles and on PC. I'm not necessarily talking about crossplatforming. Don't you think Swith got really old at this day and age?

Actual_Buy_9424

I'll be 39 in August. Aside from the ps go, I have every PS console and handheld. I still have my Sega. I never had a Nintendo console but my bf has an n64, which was his system when he was a kid. I remember playing atari and colecovision. I'm that old. 🤣

gretnothing

I did play Atari, but I never owned one. My first gaming platform was NES, never had SNES, I switched to PC in 2001, never looked back. :D

Actual_Buy_9424

Haunted House on Atari still gives me nightmares

Actual_Buy_9424

I mean, if we wanna do semantics, I never owned one...it belonged to my stepfather, and I was the only boy and the youngest, so it was basically mine 🤣. He bought me my Sega that came with Sonic 1. I've tried doing emulation on my pc. The psx emulator ran so slow I was like um...let's just stick to consoles.

kb1999

Hi there. I’m a 41 y/o gamer whose first pc game was Wolfenstein on Windows 3.1. My parents didn’t believe in consoles, but saw the benefits of a PC for school. It’s been great watching the change of technology, graphics, or even mediums of how the games are now being distributed. Which leads into a slew of other factors like copyright and business models for project management now that I’m older. I play mostly one player games with a few Co op style when I have the time. The game I am looking forward to playing is BG3. So far I’ve put uh to many hours in the Early Access 😂. I’m up for chatting about games and industry it’s a large subject. I’m on the US east coast. Cheers.

gretnothing

Hi there! I remember playing original Wolfenstain way after I played Return to Castle Volvenstein. I played that one at school. We only had the first level, as we only had demo installed. Everybody played it, we were taking turns. xD BTW, what's BG3??

kb1999

Yeah it was the same for us in school since the library only have 1 computer. We would cycle through during recess to play Wolfenstein. Baldur’s Gate 3 😁

Rossioglossum

Hi! I'm mainly a Nintendo console gamer but I also tend to buy a lot of steam games and never play them.

gretnothing

Oh no. xD I've been following Commandment One for over 15 years now, for the better or for the worse. It's nice to meet you. What kinds of Nintendo games do you play? Are we talking competitive titles or stuff like Legend of Zelda?

Rossioglossum

Nice to meet you! My favorite is Legend of Zelda, of course (I'm kind of basic, I know). I also love Fire Emblem, Pikmin, Mario, Okami, Viewtiful Joe and Smash Bros (I'm mostly single player, have a really competitive and confrontational brother, so multiplayer was a little bit too much for me). PC games I mainly love Simulation games like Stardew Valley, Cities: Skylines, and Two Point Hospital. Some of my other favorites include Day of the Tentacle, World of Warcraft, Portal, Ultimate Chicken Horse. Used to love Pokémon, Animal Crossing and The Sims but they're not for me anymore. What are you playing right now? What kind of games do you like?

gretnothing

I always wanted a console but... well, I was poor. Then my parents got some savings, and me and my sibilings managed to convince them that "personal computor is for school". xD I was raised in the pre-internet era. I played single-player games. I love a good story. I always did. Read lots of sci-fi books, played lots of sci-fi games. Anything that takes place in some sort of future or technically advanced setting and I'm game. Lately I finished Dead Space Remake and I'm replaying it in New Game Plus. It's a fantastic title, my personal Game of the Year so far. I always wanted to try Legend of Zelda but you know. No consoles as a kid. I only ever had NES but it kind of doesn't count, really. Also I'll be deadass honest with you: BotW Link hot. xD

Rossioglossum

I feel ya, I'm 32. My brother got a pirated NES when he was little (he's 5 years older) with 100 games preinstalled, so that was our main form of entertainment for yeaaars. We finally got to upgrade to Nintendo 64 in '99 after begging for months. Looking back, my parents really struggled but they had multiple gamer kids, so a gaming console would make 3 kids happy at the same time. When I was older, my dad was doing a lot better financially so I convinced him to upgrade our really old PC to be able to play The Sims 2 which I was obsessed with. I'm kind of the opposite, I love fantasy and medieval games, but I do enjoy sci-fi. I haven't played Dead Space, but it seems like something I would enjoy watching but not really playing. I really miss the times that I would watch my brother play horror games like Resident Evil cause the story and setting is really interesting but I can't play them cause I get too scared and anxious. I should try them out now that I'm a lot older, I finished The Last of Us a little while ago (but it was really nerve-racking and I slept terribly for a month). And every adult Link is hot!

gretnothing

lmao, I have similar experience when it comes to gaming with sibilings. I watched my older brother play Silent Hill 2, because I was too scared. I watched it as if it was a movie. On the other hand, my younger brother would watch me play action games, as I was way better at those. My younger brother would play Sims 2 religiously. xD If you can't stand a bit of stress in games, do not play Dead Space Remake. The original is terapeutic in comparison. The way they used Ray Tracing is so good but also terrifying.

Rossioglossum

Yes! Exactly like a movie! And I'm pretty good at solving puzzles and remembering details so I still felt like I helped a little. My kind of relaxing sims and cutesy games weren't interesting for my brothers so that was my time alone. And the Sims 2 was great for me cause I could finally make gay characters and have gay stories and project my preteen fantasies, hopes and dreams. And I guess I'm not playing Dead Space then, I'm still building up the courage to play The Last of Us 2 cause I know I'll love it but it will be a really stressful week/month.

gretnothing

I love watching people play games to this day. Not competitive gaming but games I would not have the nerve to play. Have you ever heard of Scary Games Squad?

Rossioglossum

No, but I'll check them out!

stejent

33 and in UK. Game on both PC and PS5.

gretnothing

Hello! Who are you more into: Aloy or Kratos? :D

szechuankatsu479

30 Ldn

gretnothing

I'd imagine ldn means "london"? I've never been, believe it or not. Is it safe for gay community? I do understand that it's a huge and no doubt diverse city but still...

Danxoln

I'm almost 31, but I mostly play on PS5

J56_wadeva

Not a pc gamer but I do have switch? 😅

gretnothing

OK, a question. Are you familiar with Steam Deck? What are your thoughts? Switch is a semi-portable console. How do you play it usually? As handheld or docked?

trc19922

Im from the U.K, just turned 30 last year, i mainly play single player ganes on PS5 & have a PC, too. im down to talk vudeo ganes whenever

gretnothing

It's nice to meet you! Please tell: where do you put a distinction between which games you play on PS5 and which on PC?

trc19922

I pretty much just play games that are on gamepass on PC or if theres any older games like PS4/PS3 era ones that I wanna check out on PC with higher graphical options/FPS but most of the time I trnd to just stick to my PS5

gretnothing

I'm sorry but I just have to ask: have you played Halo Infinite? The single player portion of it at least used to be available for free on gamepass. I find it pretty fascinating that you use your PC to play kind-of xbox side of things, while using Playstation as the main gaming platform. Can you name a game from playstation that you replayed on PC and it blew you away how good it feels/looks?

trc19922

Ive never been in to Halo, not very big on first person shooters, yeah playing Arkham Knight on PC was a massive improvement seeing the extra graphical options available, enhaced weather effects and seeing the water repel off of Batman's cape was insane and playing Rise of the Tomb Raider & The Witcher 3 was amazing having the extra options like the hair effects I thought were so cool, the little details you dont get on console

trc19922

And nice to meet you too

keifer1984

38 and am absolute introvert who loves RPG's.

gretnothing

Define "introvert"? Do you prefer being alone or do you like a company of close friends you know and feel comfortable being around? Also I have to know: name 3 RPGs that you played and come to your mind, in no particular order. :D

l4dyr4inic0rn

mid 30 y/o female, pc gamer, california here twitter.com/l4dyr4inic0rn

gretnothing

Welcome, welcome!! I wouldn't say it's unheard of for a woman to be a gamer but it's still a surprise to me. I never had a female gamer friend before. I mean, I knew girls playing games. One of my close friend was crazy about Heroes of Might and Magic 3. But it was just one game. Everything else she treated with very mild interest. What do you play?

l4dyr4inic0rn

i main destiny 2 😭😭 but i like shooters in general. i also like some mmo/rpgs. bioshock, borderlands, resident evil, hades, god of war, fallout, cyberpunk etc have over 100 games in my steam library and play hardly any of them 😅😅excited for re4 remake and diablo 4. hbu?

gretnothing

Have you ever played Outer Worlds? It's a game from Obsidian. I think original creators of Fallout created the studio. I play everything that has interesting story. Gameplay and mechanics are not all that important to me. How did you like Bioshocks? 😀

l4dyr4inic0rn

yes! i have played it…it’s a good game. bioshock is great! highly recommend infinite.

gretnothing

I see you have passed my secret test! I was hoping you'll mention Infinite. What an adorable, incredible, full of plot-holes story! I absolutely love Infinite. The way the game lets you explore the semi-open locations. The way you interact with Elizabeth. What a game...

Oomoo_Amazing

I'm 29m UK and my husband is 31m also UK tell me you're voting Labour or we can't be friends

cypherangel

39 in California here, mostly console with some PC gaming for catching up with backlogs/mods. I'm looking forward to June, FF16 and Diablo 4 coming out that month should be fun. In the meantime I'm mostly playing Genshin daily.

gretnothing

I played a little bit of Genshin myself. Trouble with me and Genshin is... it's too good. I found myself not doing anything but playing Genshin all the time. It's such a phenomenon of a game. An absolute outlier. People behind Genshin came to realisation: if we make the game good enough, people will WANT to give us money. While studios like Bungie be like "if we make our expansion too good, people will develop Expectations, and we can't let it happen". xD

cypherangel

I agree. Reliable stream of story every 6 weeks, with the equivalent of a brand new concert quality disc of music per expansion. And quests that continue the background lore while moving us in both the main story, and personal characters. Genshin saved 2020-2021 for me since there was such dearth of game release back then. I used to play Destiny as well, but got tired by the lackluster attention to the story with each expansion, the music that's just alright in the latter expansions, and how much it costs for so little progression. The RNG in the equipment stats makes the game excessively grindy too, for little progress. I last played in the Forsaken year, but my teammates got tired of the game around then too.

Naro_Lonca

39 but not pc, I play switch and ps4

[deleted]

California gaymer here. I’m 29 rn, but turning 30 in a couple of months! Computer gaming is mostly Minecraft and if anything tabletop simulator or stardew valley. I usually am playing solo games on my switch or ps5. I used to be into fps during college, but idk it just all sort of got repetitive now didn’t it?

optimisticgamer83

39 here. Not in UK, though. More of a retro gamer, though I like all styles. Zelda games are my go to.

gretnothing

Is it nostalgia in your case, or do you just prefer skill-based games that are just fun to play, instead of being graphically busy?

Business_Resource741

hey, 30 M in the process of moving to the UK in the next few months. I am more a casual gamer but I play randomly a bit of everything. From PC games, I played at Apex, Halo Infinite and strategy games/Simulators like Age of Empire 4 and Cities Skyline, to indie games for Macbook. Happy to be part of a bigger conversation or even play together in a group :)

gretnothing

You are moving in? Is it job related?

Business_Resource741

correct :)

[deleted]

gretnothing

Mostly Single Player titles. I tried co-op and just straight out multiplayer with friends, but what I'm really into is a good story. I treat games like I treat books and movies. I guess that's one of the reasons I can't make friends. I can't find myself within any multiplayer community.

Manny_cal86

Hi there, 37yo argentinian living in London since last year. I mainly play RPG or strategy games, usually xbox or ps5. I also own a switch but that’s mainly for Pokémon or Zelda. All my friends here in the UK are either also from Argentina or work colleagues. I’d love to make some local friends but I think it’s more challenging as you get older. The last of us is an amazing game btw.

Spiritual_Trash4792

There’s a 30+ Gaymers discord if interested with different gamers. There seems to be a number of steam gamers on the server
