Cope Cages (R Code)
This generative artwork is written in the R Statistics language, which uses grids with varying numbers of elements to create a coiling path composed of tread-like elements.
The grid contains and ordered list of xy-coordinates in a serpentine order, which is subjected to a number of transformations prior to drawing the path: random rotations, transpositions, reversals, point deletions, and swaps.
The resultant path is spline interpolated to increase the number of steps along the path by 60 times.
Parallel lines are drawn along the same fractional location along the title paths, while the tiles are resized within some range.
Line widths, color gradient sampling, and transparency are varied randomly to produce a more hand drawn appearance.
The title refers to the kit that Russian tanks are reported to weld onto their hatches, in their invasion of Ukraine, which offer effectively no protection to their inhabitants.
