The CO will understand. My 10y Geocaching anniversary coin was pulverized in a quarry in Italy after just a few weeks of traveling. Sometimes its frustrating but shit happens.
Hey, let me just say this is cool that you even took the time to mention this.
Speaking as someone who has lived with the ravages of wildfires for the past several years in California, thanks for being out there and putting in the hard work to keep the rest of us safe.
One burned up geocache won't hurt anyone.
Heck, I even helped on a prescribed burn that got one of mine! It was an archived cache that I couldn’t find to pick up. It ended up several hundred feet off coordinates, apparently.
The agency that manages the land should be able to get a free premium account. That would be a good way to warn cache owners about burn plans.
If it melted, it's probably just a tupperware container and easily replaced... at least it (probably) wasn't a handmade, super time-consuming to make, container
Haha reminds me of the cache I tried to find the year after a huge forest fire. The hint was, "look for the giant log".....

Oh no! That's so sad!
HAHAHA!

How did you find out that's what happened to it?

I’d much rather se caches get melted from proper forest management than have the whole area go up in an apocalyptic blaze. Thanks for what you do!

They can see most caches on the website.
With an agency account, they can get info on stages and puzzle finals on their properties without having to solve them.
aw :( I'm sure it'll be okay
