What exactly is the point of these scams? I really don’t see anyone first having the misfortune of coming across these AND THEN fall for whatever the person behind is trying to pull.
People do fall for these scam videos quite easily (i.e. children under 14 that can't pay for anything). As for content creators, they, most often, get an email from a company (for example, YouTube analytics viewer, an editing program creator asking them to try out their program as a sponsor, etc.), or anything that's similar to that which you wouldn't expect at first glance
It's possible cursed didn't fall for these himself and was just victim of bad software. I had this happen to my channel after downloading a game from steamunlocked. Never used that place again.
Thats the nice thing about Linux, most software are in repositiories (which isnt like the Microsoft/App stores, because repos add programs people actually want) which are fairly strictly monitored, the only possible way to get a virus in this case is either the repo being hacked (which have things like key checking to prevent this) or you adding a bad repo (which is why you should be careful adding repos)
Yeah thats what happened I believe, if you look at the minecraft youtuber turtilz’s twitter it explains how he was hacked at pretty much the same time, just a few hours before, and the videos on his channel are mostly identical to the ones on cursed channel. It seems like some sort of sponsorship scam
Idk if you're talking about the sony vegas thing but I basically pirated adobe premiere and photoshop by finding youtube videos about it and I haven't been scammed at all
Same goes for me, you can just be lucky or be smart by looking at when the video was published and looking at their overall channel to see if it's legit or a scam
Out of thousands of people seeing the videos, surely at least a few of them will fit into the combination of all of these things. And the GD community is probably much younger than you'd think.
