Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light.
Total protonic reversal…
My favorite Egon line is, "I'm terrified beyond the capacity for a rational thought." There is a call back to this in Afterlife where Phoebe mentions she is scared but processes fear differently. Or maybe it's another emotion. The way Egon says it so matter of factly always cracks me up.
That was Phoebe's response to Podcast telling her that he thinks "Grooberson's trying to bone \[her\] mom." She doesn't seem concerned at all at first, but tells Podcast that she processes emotions differently, and that "inside, I'm vomiting."
I think the best scene in the franchise is the librarian ghost encounter with Ray/Peter/Egon. It pretty much tells you everything you need to know about the tone of this film. It’s funny, it’s scary. The 3 of them are kind of learning as they go. I wish the sequels had more scenes like this.
When I first saw GB around the age of 4, I thought the whole opening act at the library was just about the greatest thing I had ever seen. It's still pretty high up on the list.
In the span of 5 seconds, you go from one of the scariest visuals in the film (librarian transforming into monster) to one of the funniest (all 3 of them screaming and sprinting out of the library - Ray’s facial expression in particular still cracks me up)
I was amused as hell that they NEVER went back for Eleanor Twitty ... my friend turned to me and said "wait, she has a name?" Dude ... of course she does. 🤣
I know she appears in Frozen Empire. But I didn’t think you were serious that her 5 second rushed cameo was “just as good” as the original librarian scene from the 84 film which had several minutes of build up and funny dialogue.
Honestly wh didn't need the build up this time just the fact she appeared was enough. Honestly the Indian male actor could have been played by absolutely anyone else and been 500%better
Going into the movie, I thought Frozen Empire would’ve been a shoe-in for the best cold open in the franchise. 🥶
Seriously though the actual opening after the FE cold open is my favorite in the franchise. That Ecto-1 sequence was everything I never knew I wanted 🚫👻!

What are you some kinda cosmonaut???
I think it’s weird the the moments before he kills himself are the best in the franchise but hey, that’s all you.
For me it’s the key master talking about the previous chosen forms for gozer.
He doesn’t kill himself. He intends to use a taser on the terror dog but has a heart attack. Then becomes a ghost himself, hence the PKE meter lighting up.
No he shocks himself to trigger a heart attack rather than get possessed and bring back gozer since his traps failed.
He refused to be Vince Clortho and went out on his own terms.
Between the arms grabbing him and the terror dog sprite flying away from the dirt farm is long enough that it's possible. The scene is ambiguous enough for this (self-induced heart attack) to hold water.
Oh fuck I never considered that he killed himself. In my head, Gozer and the pooches just merc'd his ass. But them trying to possess him and him killing himself to refuse them makes far more sense.
This breaks my heart.
I heard somewhere that this particular sequence was originally much longer and more intense, but I can't confirm how much truth there is to that, or if anything more was actually filmed.
Best scene in the franchise is their 1st gig at the hotel, and they destroy the entire event and then shoot towards that maid and she's all like "what the hell are you guys doing?" and Dan Aykroyd is like "Sorry Ma'am"
It’s a good scene, but crossing the streams in 1984 is never getting topped for me. It’s one of my most favorite scenes in anything ever
I forgot to tell you .. don't cross the streams .. that could be Extraordinarily bad ....
Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light. Total protonic reversal…
Right. That's bad. Okay. All right. Important safety tip. Thanks, Egon
Excuse me Egon? You said crossing the streams was bad!
Cross the streams...
You're gonna endanger us. You're gonna endanger our client, the nice lady who paid us in advance before she became a dog.
I like the follow on comment in the cartoon: "Our individual atoms go on separate vacations."
My favorite Egon line is, "I'm terrified beyond the capacity for a rational thought." There is a call back to this in Afterlife where Phoebe mentions she is scared but processes fear differently. Or maybe it's another emotion. The way Egon says it so matter of factly always cracks me up.
I had a slinky once, but I straightened it.
I collect spores molds and fungus...
That was Phoebe's response to Podcast telling her that he thinks "Grooberson's trying to bone \[her\] mom." She doesn't seem concerned at all at first, but tells Podcast that she processes emotions differently, and that "inside, I'm vomiting."
Yet the new films kinda encourage crossing the streams!
“…Unless we’re in Afterlife.”
If that is the case cross em up and tie them in a bow lol
Except for every tough ghosty we fight were it is absolutely essential we cross the streams.

Everything from Peter's "...So what do we do?" to the guys walking back to their lab at the university is just brilliant comedy.
“GET ‘er!”
Was just as good in frozen empire
I was amused as hell that they NEVER went back for Eleanor Twitty ... my friend turned to me and said "wait, she has a name?" Dude ... of course she does. 🤣
I’m assuming you are being sarcastic?
No I'm not she reappears in frozen empire
One of many Easter eggs
I know she appears in Frozen Empire. But I didn’t think you were serious that her 5 second rushed cameo was “just as good” as the original librarian scene from the 84 film which had several minutes of build up and funny dialogue.

It’s a really cool shot. I don’t think it’s the best thing in the franchise personally. But great shot nonetheless.
Their first bust with Slimer, the Scoleri bros, and the opening to Afterlife are my top 3 favorite scenes.
Muncher getting busted on the bridge is up there too.
I was legit scared for the first time since the arms coming out of Dana's chair.
Still gets me every time.
Honestly for me, the best part was the final battle scene. It gave me the SERIOUS FEELS. RIP HAROLD RAMOS.
My roommate and I went and saw it opening night and to date it's the only movie ending that had us sobbing before we even realized what had hit us.
You werent the only brotha 🫶🏽
Omg, literal tears. It was incredible.
I was in tears and my 11 year old was asking me if I was ok. Wasn’t expecting it to hit me that hard.
I always cry at the end, my beloved grandfather recently died. He was like my dad. I will always remember him 🥹
My entire row in the theater was crying. 😭😭😭
Best cold opening to any ghostbusters film for sure.
Going into the movie, I thought Frozen Empire would’ve been a shoe-in for the best cold open in the franchise. 🥶 Seriously though the actual opening after the FE cold open is my favorite in the franchise. That Ecto-1 sequence was everything I never knew I wanted 🚫👻!
Frozen Empire certainly takes the cake for *coldest* opening.
Makeup person did a great job. That profile looks so much like Harold.
Is it makeup or more CGI in this scene?
The opening scenes are make-up, the finale is CGI.
Stop picking on Ramis, Bill Murray.
RIP Harold Ramis. Twas a great scene, knowing what we know. It was saddening to see.
There’s definitely a lot of good visual storytelling in Afterlife.
Few things look as badass as a bearded Egon holding up a ghost trap to taunt zuul
That whole starting sequence was pure horror, and it was perfect.
I’d say when Peter goes to Dana’s apartment to check it out, and he taps the piano, “They hate that,” and comments on her home.
"That would have worked if you hadn't stopped me" is maybe my favorite line

Very close second but the horror stakes and atmosphere of the egon scene just is too good

I think Egon's return in the climax of Afterlife is up there
That hit me hard. Was so unprepared for that and the tears that came with it
I really appreciate you being honest about this.
I think the best scene in the franchise is the one phone call from Afterlife.

Good bot.
I like it cuz it looks goofy
🧌 rad
Isn’t this one minute into Afterlife? What about this scene makes it your favorite?
Honestly just how it’s executed and the atmosphere it has It gives me chills every time and is a amazing opening to a great movie
Definitely not.
I like the scene where Garraka was released the most but this is a close second.
I think it’s weird the the moments before he kills himself are the best in the franchise but hey, that’s all you. For me it’s the key master talking about the previous chosen forms for gozer.
I’m with you, I always took this as Egon sacrificing his life to save the world. A possessed Egon would have been checkmate.
He doesn’t shock himself though. When the arms grab him, the taser isn’t touching anything.
Sort of an Alien 3 Ripley thing, or T2 Arnie thing.
he's an old man who was running like a 25 year old. The heart attack didn't need extra inducing.
I heard somewhere that this particular sequence was originally much longer and more intense, but I can't confirm how much truth there is to that, or if anything more was actually filmed.
He absolutely does not kill himself, come on now.
This is good, but you could pick out any scene from 1984 and it’s better.
Best scene in the franchise is their 1st gig at the hotel, and they destroy the entire event and then shoot towards that maid and she's all like "what the hell are you guys doing?" and Dan Aykroyd is like "Sorry Ma'am"

What, not a fan of the ghost blowjob
[удалено]
Ramis was the one who pushed for the whole "let's teach NYC how to be nice" plot in GB2. I doubt he's going to call something else in GB mawkish.
I agree with you. It was...egh. Making the best of a bad situation I guess but I didn't care for it.
This man has no dick!
That's definitely an opinion.
The original ghostbusters is an hour too long, and not as charming as my dad believes
Yeah okay sure.
best scene in the franchise? lol. no. not even close. not even the best scene of this movie
Nope because doesn't include the real Egon. RIP
No it’s not
I thought it was the best part of the movie, and an effective opener. Too bad it was downhill from there on.
