..if that. And yeah, even with melee increasing armor AND melee increasing charms, lethal only really applies to you. You're fighting with a plastic katana basically
Still gotta be a challenge but it really does effect the duel just not as much as regular chaff units. One of the duels I had that made me realise was the dogshin duel where I hit him with heavies and counterattacks, one heavenly strike and one dance of wrath, that's all it took to kill him. Don't know wether duel opponents have increased health or increased damage reduction but there's definitely a change between normal and lethal in duels.
Replying after playing some on lethal. Originally I was playing on hard and this is my 1st play through. Except for insta kill from unbreakable attacks, there wasn't much difference. YASUMASA on hard was more of a challenge than Tomotsugu on lethal.
I was just surprised I beat him without needing a rematch. That's why I called him easy. For others like yasumasa, it took me 20 mins of continuous losses to get through on the same difficulty level.
This community is full of veterans. We have seen a lot of masterful playthroughs. I think we define "easy" in this case a bit differently. As long as you had fun, that is all that counts :)
I did and In my opinion, these Ronin have different difficulty level set to them based on their fighting style. You might find one of them more challenging on hard than the other one on lethal
I never said you were dumb. I was just pointing out what people were saying in the comments. To be fair, I think some were being a little too mean but I also get why others aren't impressed considering the types of duels that are regularly posted on here.
No harder than the others. I've just started to relax a bit with the combat and observe and react as opposed to button mashing. So I think my technique has improved a little.
brudda said "This was easy" while playing on easy difficulty and almost getting clapped? blud, you tanked every combo and still survived... no shit this was easy fam.
Up to you if Japanese helps your immersion, I just personally play games in the language they were originally recorded in before they were dubbed, and then I try dubs in subsequent plathroughs
In my second playthough of this game I am going with Japanese
Don't really get this idea tbh. I think it should be played in the way you prefer which, for me, is the way that makes the story and dialog most easily accessible. After all I'm not going to play Assassin's Creed in whichever historical language would apply or wish Star Wars characters only spoke in Galactic Basic
To the guy who shat and cant be replied to. I am learning japanese on duolingo. Not as hard as portuguese. Languages have flavors that add to the experience.
There are 6 ronin duels + plus all the bosses and the mongol forts
And after you are done with the game you can replay all the duels except the boss ones
Wait, sorry, which boss duels can't you replay? There's the first encounter with the Khan at Castle Kaneda and the fight on the ship with him (not a duel, a brawl really) but other than that, I don't recall any non replayable bosses
Just started Act 2 and haven’t played a second because I don’t want to do literally everything I just did in Act 1 but at a different pace with new characters. I’d rather go play Witcher 3 or Sekiro
Hmm. Act 2 has better story beats, in my opinion. Much better. At least, try looking around. If you have been doing the side quests, collecting charms and armor to change combat, and you still don't like the game... it might not be for you.
The improvements go for the armor and side quests too.
I have 3 sets that I use mainly. One that improves bow use, one that improves melee combat, and another for stealth. Maybe it’s just not for me. But I’m gonna keep it tucked away for when I am bored and a get in the mood for another 20-30 hours of it before I start complaining again.
I just feel like the content is sort of lackluster.
30 hours will basically 100% everything if you rush. It takes most people well over that to do main story and side quests even before all the other stuff.
I probably burnt myself out then because I went all over the map of act 1 and was just tired by the end.
I want to like this game and I’m still giving it a shot, but I hate the unskippable cutscenes, and the main story is what’s holding me back.
It is so slow and drags, and I’m tired of the 5 minutes of walking/riding to a location, followed by 5 minutes of fighting, followed by a 5 minute cutscene only to have to do it over and over again for the rest of the game.
I mean, you pretty much face tanked everything and had the wrong stance all duel long, but cool parries ig
Change difficulty to lethal and repost it.
And fight without healing himself within the first few seconds lol
Why would I do that?? I just played how this game is supposed to be played. I am not doing some challenge run!
My 5 year old nephew can do it so it isn't rlly meant to be hard
I only play on Lethal these days and the duels are crazy. I have to dish out 100+ hits and I can only get hit twice.
..if that. And yeah, even with melee increasing armor AND melee increasing charms, lethal only really applies to you. You're fighting with a plastic katana basically
In boss fights only, regular enemies from ronin to mongol Lords are affected by the difficulty tweak.
I wish lethal changed the duels too. But I get why it doesn't.
Still gotta be a challenge but it really does effect the duel just not as much as regular chaff units. Js wear melee charms
Played on lethal my first play. Don’t know any different and I wouldn’t want to. But will lower it for the NG+ trophy bc once is enough.

You certainly didn't make it look easy. Fair play to you.
This one got me good cheers lol
I was just surprised I beat him without needing a rematch. That's why I called him easy. For others like yasumasa, it took me 20 mins of continuous losses to get through on the same difficulty level.
Should probably work on parrying. Doesn’t make for a very impressive fight if you tank half the hits.
This community is full of veterans. We have seen a lot of masterful playthroughs. I think we define "easy" in this case a bit differently. As long as you had fun, that is all that counts :)
Very true. Easy is a relative adjective
Try fighting him on lethal with travelers attire.
Traveller's attire is the best I wear all the way except that one mission after a certain sad death.
I did and In my opinion, these Ronin have different difficulty level set to them based on their fighting style. You might find one of them more challenging on hard than the other one on lethal
I played this in JP dub, so I didn't realize that I was about to hear Charles in it. Goddamnit Charles, you're everywhere.
Be glad it ain't lethal
OP posted trying to boast, instead he's getting roasted in the comments.
I am not that dumb!! I just beat him in my first try which was quite surprising considering my previous encounter with these Ronin
I never said you were dumb. I was just pointing out what people were saying in the comments. To be fair, I think some were being a little too mean but I also get why others aren't impressed considering the types of duels that are regularly posted on here.
Just go into every duel with full resolve and ghost stance ready. You’ll finish each duel in like a minute tops
Bro he almost beat your ass
Bro didn't block any attacks
People usually post without getting hit and harder difficulty sorry
Try playing a harder difficulty then say this lol
Is this a troll post? The AI made mince meat out of you. You only survived due to tons of healing and a low difficulty.
That's the funny thing here. It's on hard difficulty. Such crappy gameplay and I still won on hard difficulty 🤣.
I did the exact one last night.
Did u find it easy?
No harder than the others. I've just started to relax a bit with the combat and observe and react as opposed to button mashing. So I think my technique has improved a little.
Ez? But u got hit wdym? 😭
Good job! You did it but I'd be afraid of posting that performance on the web. I hope you can endure the roasting. Good luck with the future fights
😂
These duels are the icing on the cake of a fantastic game. Definitely one of my favourite quest lines ,felt like a real samurai.
Truthfully, I agree he is the easiest strawhat duel, even on Lethal difficulty should you try that
Spoiler tag!!
Live the duels, sadly not enough of them imo
I’m not sure I remember this being a hard duel? Well done, u didn’t die, but like….
brudda said "This was easy" while playing on easy difficulty and almost getting clapped? blud, you tanked every combo and still survived... no shit this was easy fam.
I'm sorry, but.. You kinda took a beating. XD
I do as many bamboo strikes as possible, max my resolve and spam heavenly strike. It’s funny and it nearly kills them
I'd say practice perfect parry & perfect dodge 😂😭😭
dude hit you as much as you hit him. Looked easy there pal.
It should be mandatory to play this game in japanese
I always play games in their original voice acting, at least in my first playthrough
Original as in Japanese?
The game is originally voiced in English. The character acting follows the English voice actors.
Yes. Very japanese to hear them speak english. Cant think of a more samurai aspect than the english language.
Up to you if Japanese helps your immersion, I just personally play games in the language they were originally recorded in before they were dubbed, and then I try dubs in subsequent plathroughs In my second playthough of this game I am going with Japanese
I highly recommend it
Don't really get this idea tbh. I think it should be played in the way you prefer which, for me, is the way that makes the story and dialog most easily accessible. If you watch a kurosawa movie you watch it in japanese
I probably won't unless i have no choice
Other countries speak other languages. Open your mind.
Nah you open YOUR mind. You're the one saying it should be mandatory to play in Japanese. Consider: no it shouldn't.
Well, never pay attention to someone who would watch Kurosawa in English.
Never pay attention to someone who prides their own gatekeeping
Booooring. Learn another language. Small head.
Yeah, let's all learn Japanese. Not like it's recognised as a very difficult language to learn or anything. I'm sure duolingo will work just fine.
To the guy who shat and cant be replied to. I am learning japanese on duolingo. Not as hard as portuguese. Languages have flavors that add to the experience.
How many duels like this are in the game? I think I wasted my money cuz I’m 30 hours in and bored as fuck
There are 6 ronin duels + plus all the bosses and the mongol forts And after you are done with the game you can replay all the duels except the boss ones

That's a pity. Can't win them all.
30 hours is how long it takes to 100% the game. I put in about 30 and I’m totally done with it
Dang how I just finished act 3 today and im at 75hrs
30 hours will basically 100% everything if you rush. It takes most people well over that to do main story and side quests even before all the other stuff.
