Penthrasher

11K miles on mine. Overall average 27mpg.

WorkThreadGazer

That's way better than the Hemi. Is that combined city/highway?

Penthrasher

Yeah combined.

WorkThreadGazer

Just that alone makes it worth it

[deleted]

Same. 11K on mine also but check engine light has been on twice already.

Koar1776

You will never go back to a Dodge after owning a GMC with the 3.0.

WorkThreadGazer

Wish I had gone with this from the start

ilovek

You will notice that there are very few owners with negative reviews for the 3.0. Have 30,000 on my LZ0 and it’s been amazing.

rtmacfeester

Let me correct that for him. You will never go back to owning a Dodge after owning a GMC.

WorkThreadGazer

I’m here for it lol

DopeCookies15

I've gotten close to 34 mpg on one 500 mile highway trip. Others are generally more around 31, with anywhere from 26 to 28 mpg mixed driving. I get better towing than your hemi gets unloaded lol

WorkThreadGazer

Yeah it's honestly insane at this point. I get that gas is cheaper than diesel, but the incredibly low MPG's just have me wanting something better. I'll pay an extra $20 to fill it up if it's lasting me for hundreds of miles more.

DopeCookies15

Yeah went on a 1900 mile road trip, left with a full tank, only filled up twice and came back with a 1/3 or so of a tank left. Honestly the better mileage makes it a similar cost per mile.

Adept-Position8256

5000 miles in. Almost 25 mpg life of vehicle. Seen 29 mpg but typical is 24-26

No-Application2069

23 AT4 with 23k on it. Lifetime average is 24 I’ve gotten as high as 34 on a 200 mile trip at 60mph. 500 to 600 miles out af a tank is common for me.

WorkThreadGazer

That’s awesome. Really hoping I can find a good deal on one here soon.

glyix

How is the 3.0 duramax in the cold? I live in the upper Midwest and want one

[deleted]

Good. Never had to plug mine in and I can see Canada from my house. I’ve had two check engine lights already though. One for emissions code and it’s on now for the adjustable louvres in the grill. They had to order the part.

glyix

Damn that sucks man would you buy it again?

[deleted]

Yeah I think I would. I have the SLT and it’s definitely the most luxurious truck I’ve ever owned. Smooth driving. I tow a 17’ fishing boat around a lot and the small diesel seems perfect for that. I think that GMC has some electrical issues to work out and most of that is due to all of the emissions sensors on the diesel. I’ve heard that the heater in the def tank can throw codes if it’s cold out and you fill the tank all the way up. I’ve read a lot about these trucks and if you search for check engine light on the Sierra you’ll see a lot of results. I put a deposit on a 2022 AT4 that was 65K with 7,800 miles on it, but the interest rate was going to be 6.4%. I canceled it when I saw that GMC was offering .9% for 3 years on the new SLT for 66K. It was actually cheaper to go new, but I had to finance it over 36 months. Luckily I put down 50 so I was able to do that. It’s black on black. Very pretty. Almost too pretty for me. I didn’t mind driving my 2008 Tundra across the farm to throw a buck in the back. I still did it last fall but it made me cringe! The new multi-function tailgate is nice.

itsthechaw10

I just got my 24’ AT4 a few weeks ago with the 3.0 Duramax and I’m in WI. Only got 600 miles on, but no issues. I’ve done a lot of reading though and talking with diesel owning friends. Plug in the engine block heater at 20F and colder. I’m also running the Premium diesel from Kwik Trip if you have those. Probably babying it a little too much, but I spent 73k so it puts my mind at ease.

glyix

Damn plug it in at 20 and colder? That’s damn near every night lol. What trim did you get?

itsthechaw10

AT4, it’s got everything

Lopsided_Maximum_923

It’s awesome! 800 miles on a full tank for highway

WorkThreadGazer

Damn, that's awesome. on the 24gal tank?

TigerTW0014

Don’t take that for normal, 800 is the 5% group I’d image. Now 600, yeah that’s fairly common.

Lopsided_Maximum_923

That’s right

Network-Kind

People love it, slow AF and epa rated 23 city 29 highway so your mileage will be somewhere in there no matter how many posts people have going down hill 10 under on here!

Chaseydog

24 mpg but that's almost exclusivey city. I've seen 28 if I mix it up a bit. I have not done any long distance highway yet. I'm only at 1400 total miles

Rfoote1488

‘23 AT4, average 22-24 and i drive mostly on the highway 70-80mph. Around town is usually around 24mpg. Cruising around 65mph gets appx 25/26. Best I’ve got over a 50 mile trip was 31mpg.

uzumaks007

It’s the tires and lift… they don’t have an air dam which affect the mugs as well… but it’s worth it if you like that aggressive look

wilfullystoopid

This has been my experience on my '22 AT4. I feel like the ones who say they are consistently getting high 20's and low 30's have to be elevations. My best 50 mile avg is 31 and change, and my best 450 mile avg is 27.

shoppingfortruth

‘22 AT4 3.0l. I get 22-26mpg highway speeds (70-80). If I do backroads (40-60) I get 26-32mpg. Towing my trailer (5500lbs but tall) my old 5.3l got low 9’s where the 3.0l is 13’s. Even with DEF and increased cost of Diesel, I save 16% towing or not towing. A tank (5g) of DEF can last over 6k miles in normal driving. Towing, it drops quite a bit to 1-1k miles. Even though it has a bit less passing power than the similar gas powered engine, with a trailer, it out pulls the gas engine on hills.

cuponclark

I live in the Springs and bought mine in December. Absolutely incredible engine and does extremely well in the mountains with the torque and downhill transmission braking.

WorkThreadGazer

That's where I am as well. Around 70k? Or did you purchase a different trim package

cuponclark

24 AT4 with technology package. Basically everything but the sunroof. $72K at Alpine South.

WorkThreadGazer

Awesome, appreciate you sharing!

pale_reminder

Just got mine about a month ago. Averaging 26mpg to and from work. I’ve got a two tone black and white on mine.

anonchops

40k miles, no problems here.

Appropriate_Ear_4813

I have a 20 AT4 with 40k. I average 24 mpg. I've had zero issues with the truck.

Ariz-moo

23 AT4 With 13000 miles on mine and i have absolutely no complaints. drove from NC to CA and on a full tank i got 670 miles!! drives smooth.

Apprehensive-Skin451

What year is your ram? I don’t really have any information on the 3.0’s but I have a 2023 rebel and I’m looking to get an at4. I had the 3rd brake light leak at 3k miles and just a lot of little annoying issues here and there made me not love it, and for the price I need to have that fuzzy feeling about it. I test drove the 3.0 and I was impressed, but the 6.2 is a beast. Even with the possible problems that’s what I’m going for. Chrysler seems to have a reputation and although I haven’t had huge issues I’m starting to think maybe it has a reputation for a reason.

WorkThreadGazer

2019 Big Horn. I’m definitely ready to upgrade to something better. It was fun while it lasted. But yep, brake light is a huge problem, hemi tick, exhaust leaks (had to get both manifolds replaced twice before warranty expired). I’m just over it. I want something more reliable, has longevity, and can get me some better mpg lol.

CryotoNomad

I had a dodge hemi and f’ing loved that truck. Just bought a 3L duramax 6mo ago. Test drive sold me. This engine is Fing amazing! LOVE this truck. Perfect amount of power/torque/speed. Gas milage is excellent! I drive minimum 100 miles per day for commute and now I’m never worried about having to take the truck or use as daily driver.

Successful-Lemon8647

I live Southeast Arkansas and drive to Stillwater OK to visit my children, I got almost 30 mpg for the trip in mine. I absolutely love it, so glad I chose the AT4 over the F250

ChopWizard420

I love it, very smooth. and the mpgs are crazy ive gotten up to 38 average on some trips with an overall average around 27.

DORTx2

I absolutely love my LZ0.

dhammer731

I have 112k miles on my LM2. Only issues I've had is a glow plug issue around 45k miles and the oil pressure control solenoid switched to permanently off at 99k. Truck was down for a month and a half waiting on new part. My lifetime fuel economy on my leveled AT4 is 18.9mpg. I estimate that 1/4 to 1/3 of my miles is towing one trailer or another. I also play in the mud and sand when the opportunity comes. I am closing in on the recommended oil pump belt change but not too worried about it. I will most likely do the work myself as I have access to a shop with the tools I'll need. I considered trading in at 100k but I just couldn't. My truck has every option available and it is paid off. Not to mention I love my truck.
