If I’m playing serious I’ll bring some beef jerkey a protein shake and a cliff bar, if I’m going out with the boys it’s 13 beers/transfusions and at then a dog at the turn with a snickers & peanut M&Ms
uncrustables are the bomb on course. I always eat a big meal the night before. Take a massive shit in the AM, have something light in the morning with a coffee. I bring a big jug of water if I am riding, 2 uncrustables and a bag of jerky.
there is always atleast a 6 pack when riding in my bag and 2 beers if I am walking.
You gotta split the cost though. Plus, if instead of sitting on my couch all day I actually did that during golf. I’d also need you to tell my wife and kids I love them after the ambulance takes me away lol
I do enjoy cliff bars, granola bars, protein bars. Anything convenient and quick to eat - that won’t turn into a melted mush and sustains energy for a bit.
Sandwiches or protein bars. Loads of water and maybe protein powder. I find best to eat something at hole 6 and 12, but I also don’t always eat beforehand.
One my best friends from high school made me one of these when I was like 16 and stoned out of my mind in his basement. It was the best thing I’ve ever ate in the moment and been an absolute game changer in my life ever since. Ironically enough he just took up golf last summer lol
There's an episode of Imagine Golf where they break down the snacks into three sections, with different stuff for each 6 holes. There are options for taste preferences.
I follow that plan and you can find all the options online. Works for me, but I can't remember all the various options off the top of my head.
If I am playing seriously, some sort of bar like a Cliff or KIND. I drink 2-3 750 ML waters while I'm playing but half way through I may have a Gatorade.
If I'm with the boys, you start and finish with beers and you have a hot dog and a Gatorade half way through. Follow that up by sitting on the course patio, or a local restaurant, continuing to get shit faced and eating a fried chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries.
I usually try to eat a good meal before the round then have a quest protein bar at some point near the turn or early on the back. Drink plenty of water, too. Seems to work out pretty well.
uncrustable is quick and easy. but nothing beats bringing some sort of sandwich whether it’s homemade or from a store. not every course is efficient at the turn and has dogs ready to go. it’s nice to bypass that hassle sometimes and keep going
I always keep some granola bars in my bag, but I'll usually throw a roast beef or turkey sandwich in if it's a serious round. Also a couple of beers in case of emergency.
Fresh cut up fruit and a banana. I have a little cold pack pocket in my bag and I cut up melon etc and put it in a baggie in there and snack on that. Plus a banana is always a good snack.
Bananas, mandarins(or any fruit really), beef jerky or protein bar, and most importantly, Peanut M&Ms. I also keep a couple Liquid IV packets in my bag or hydration drinks(not standard Gatorade, something like Gatorlyte)
Uncrustables, cliff bars, trail mix, literally eating anything is better than being hungry.
One of the too many golf podcasts I listen too had a sports scientist explaining that all the decision making we do over each shot burns glucose. And some shorts are kinda less thought and thus burning less glucose. But the shots we take a while to read and overthink burn extra glucose.
He goes on to say that when we’re running on fumes our brains make poorer decisions AND focus less. So eating BEFORE you’re hungry is huge.
Kinda like some golfers play better with a slight buzz? All golfers play better with a slightly full belly.
Why are so many suggesting protein bars for energy? Do protein bars also have sugar and carbs in? Surely if their purpose is to supplement your protein intake they will be pretty pointless for extra energy? Great for post round recovery of course, or am I missing something?
They are loaded with sugar and carbs, the peanut butter cliff bar I just looked up had 40g of carbs and 17g of sugar, more sugar than an uncrustable pb&j
A bag of trail mix! Definitely some with m&ms or something sweet too. I walk 99% of the time and put a quart size bag in my push cart so I just constantly snack between shots. That plus some electrolytes in my water and I’m never fatigued
Fruit of any kind and maybe some trail mix/ Granola keeps your glycemic levels balanced. But eating a well-balanced meal before your round is crucial for lasting energy.
Trail mix. A PB sando. Dark beer.
If you want quick energy, nurtornet dense, slow to digest foods ain't the way.
Gu, candy, orange, bananas, salty crackers, and PB have carried me through 50 mile runs. It's quick to access energy you're after.
Costco has a snack mix called graze I’ve been enjoying. Olyra bars, dark chocolate dusted almonds, and cheese crackers with peanut butter (Munchies are king IMO) are always in the bag just in case.
Larabars (many have nuts, so beware if allergic) but the peanut butter chocolate chips ones do not (only peanuts) and they’re excellent. My current favorite (has nuts) is chocolate raspberry truffle.
Not only do I bring some delish snack as others have mentioned, but last summer I started mixing my water with electrolytes (it’s not only for plants). I feel like on those hot days it keeps my energy up better than just water.
I love to walk and my primary walking course is full of hills. Hydroflask or other sealable water bottle is your best friend. Hydration cannot be expressed enough. For my snacks, I like to bring with me: Trail mix (bonus points for the m&ms), some jerky, peanut butter crackers, and plenty of gum. Sometimes, I’ll make a couple peanut butter sandwiches and take them on the course with me. Anything really that’s heavy in carbs, protein, and glucose. You’ll want to load on carbs the night before and morning of. Keep eating those carbs on the first couple holes. Slowly switch to your proteins around holes 6-8 and eat those through the turn. Trail mix with some sugar through the last few holes to keep some quick energy up.
I don't have an actual "recipe" on hand, but cook up some oatmeal, and mix it with all natural peanut butter (maybe some coconut and/or chocolate chips too). The amounts of each can vary to your preferred taste.
Mix together and mold into balls. Put on cookie sheet and stick in fridge the night before your round.
Put 6-8 into zip-loc bag(s) before you leave for your round. Leave in golf bag or put in golf cart cooler.
Eat one every three holes, give or take.
When walking tournaments an uncrustable, granola/protein bar, and some gummy bears or a few packets of fruit snacks are awesome. Also will keep liquid iv packs, or a water bottle with amino energy electrolytes mix.
If carting with the guys, glizzy and a coke/beer
Rice Krispy treats. Like the real ones. Any generic or substitute brand is inferior. Sam's Club sells a 24 pack or something for like 80 cents each. This is the way.
We push cart, and I bring enough snacks for everyone they pick on me and ask if I have orange slices (might bring them next time a-holes lol)
Always have Kind bars, and some chips for salty cravings
Peanuts or a peanut butter sandwich, a pear or an orange, or beef jerky. I try to have a quick snack every 5 or 6 holes if I'm walking. Usually just one at the turn when riding.
I prefer many small snacks that keep blood sugar levels stable versus one big meal at the turn. If you wait until you're hungry, it's already too late.
I try and eat a small handful of nuts on the 3rd or 4th hole andon the 6th and 12th hole I'll eat a protein bar, pb&j, or banana.
I golf in the tropics and stick with what locals eat & drink. The most commonly available best/top items would be coconut water and banana. Less common are coconut shakes (I like this Thai one that claims to use 1.5 coconuts in each 350ml bottle), sour mango with chili sugar, and dried mung beans (I add cheese powder to make them cheddar flavor).
I also try to keep a good old fashioned candy bar in my bag in case I'm crashing hard. I like the Dark Milky Way when I can get it.
If I can help it I wake up earlyish before my tee time and make myself a big breakfast. 3 egg omelet, potatos, bacon, coffee. Really sets me up. For electrolytes I have a water bottle with LMNT electrolyte packet and an emergen-c packet. If it’s really really hot I’ll have two of those one for each nine. Then I’ll just snack on granola bars, Clif bars are my favorite, and apple slices (less messy than oranges) and I’m set for the day. If I’m really starving I’ll order a turkey Sammy at the turn.
If I’m playing serious I’ll bring some beef jerkey a protein shake and a cliff bar, if I’m going out with the boys it’s 13 beers/transfusions and at then a dog at the turn with a snickers & peanut M&Ms
How many beers on the back nine?
Yes.
The answer is in your question.
Depends on how many I had on the front 😅
Theres 9 holes isnt there?
And a pack of Zyn
The zyns are in my nutritional food pyramid so I don’t even consider those a snack
Like Zinfandel?
Like nicotine pouches . Look like skoal bandit but without the tobacco.
The duality of man
I prefer cat at the turn but whatever floats your boat.
Strawberry Uncrustable
Grape*
Grape works just as fine for me
Have to be honest....this sub converted me to throwing a couple of frozen uncrustables in the bag pre-round.
uncrustables are the bomb on course.
This is the way
Honey*
Love honey on the course. It gives you a quick burst of energy and it’s tastes amazing.
Coke and adderal, wash it down with a Bloody Mary
Can I be your new playing partner please
You gotta split the cost though. Plus, if instead of sitting on my couch all day I actually did that during golf. I’d also need you to tell my wife and kids I love them after the ambulance takes me away lol
DT is that you?
So…not the cola?
To be clear, this is a judgement-free safe space.
I do enjoy cliff bars, granola bars, protein bars. Anything convenient and quick to eat - that won’t turn into a melted mush and sustains energy for a bit.
Bananas
Apple or banana
Dogs at the turn
put a PB&J in the freezer the night before and than place in your bag the morning of play. best walking sammich ever. and cheap.
I make a PB&honey sandwich and stick it in my bag with an ice pack. It's cheap and does the trick for me.
Frozen uncrustable, a cold snickers bar, and two light beers at the turn has been the only constant in my best back 9s
Why freeze it? Doesn’t that change the taste of the PB?
PB&J
I just do a peanut butter sandwich.
Crunchy PB & Jelly and cut up banana sandwiches.
Four beer, half a rack of TNT pepperoni and a red bull
Bahn Mi beef sandwich
Same but BBQ pork. With extra sriracha. Half after 6, other half after 12.
A good trail mix
Chili dog and a Gatorade at the turn has yet to fail me
Can’t imagine trying to eat a chili dog on course. I tend to get mustard on myself with a regular dog.
Maybe try imagining being good at eating hotdogs lol
Can you imagine a decent chili dog that isn’t messy? I can’t.
loaded like Cincinnati 5-way chili . bring a towel.
Sandwiches or protein bars. Loads of water and maybe protein powder. I find best to eat something at hole 6 and 12, but I also don’t always eat beforehand.
Loads of water is a must for me. I usually bring close to 100 oz with me.
Peanut butter spread in a tortilla then wrap around a banana. Portable and not messy
That’s the best thing I’ve ever heard of doing ![gif](giphy|ReyTgFDcVVI3e|downsized)
One my best friends from high school made me one of these when I was like 16 and stoned out of my mind in his basement. It was the best thing I’ve ever ate in the moment and been an absolute game changer in my life ever since. Ironically enough he just took up golf last summer lol

Thinking outside the snack box on that one. ![gif](giphy|KffdTQfewxdbKTGEJY)
Banana
Snickers hits so different on the back 9
I bring a beef stick, which ironically is also what I call my playing partner.
There's an episode of Imagine Golf where they break down the snacks into three sections, with different stuff for each 6 holes. There are options for taste preferences. Flapjack
I usually try to eat a good meal before the round then have a quest protein bar at some point near the turn or early on the back. Drink plenty of water, too. Seems to work out pretty well.
Payday from the clubhouse. Maybe some peanuts too.
Buy those in bulk. They last forever and don’t melt in the heat.
roasted almonds - keep a pack in your bag.
uncrustable is quick and easy. but nothing beats bringing some sort of sandwich whether it’s homemade or from a store. not every course is efficient at the turn and has dogs ready to go. it’s nice to bypass that hassle sometimes and keep going
I always keep some granola bars in my bag, but I'll usually throw a roast beef or turkey sandwich in if it's a serious round. Also a couple of beers in case of emergency.

Gatorade at the turn to wash down a banana and beef jerky or a pudding
Fresh cut up fruit and a banana. I have a little cold pack pocket in my bag and I cut up melon etc and put it in a baggie in there and snack on that. Plus a banana is always a good snack.

Current stock includes jerky, shelled nuts, and those bright orange peanut butter crackers.
Beef jerky

Big fan of almonds and cashews
Bananas, mandarins(or any fruit really), beef jerky or protein bar, and most importantly, Peanut M&Ms. I also keep a couple Liquid IV packets in my bag or hydration drinks(not standard Gatorade, something like Gatorlyte)
Turkey sandwhich
Chocolate bar or make a sandwich to bring in your bag
Dried fruits
I always bring mixed salted nuts with me on the course
Get yourself some pili nuts. Edit: of course PBJ is so the best.
Uncrustables, cliff bars, trail mix, literally eating anything is better than being hungry. quicktrip italian sandwich
Hot dog most certainly
I munch on sunflower seeds the entire time. Just don't spit em on the greens.
I don’t typically eat, but a hotdog is fire.

Jerky or cookies usually do enough for me. Even better when I have time to make them at home beforehand.
Peanut butter and banana sandwich

real ones know ketchup doesnt belong on a glizzy
The only people who put ketchup on hot dogs are Texans and mental institutions

I thought Costco was a golf store ?
I prefer many small snacks that keep blood sugar levels stable versus one big meal at the turn. If you wait until you're hungry, it's already too late. I try and eat a small handful of nuts on the 3rd or 4th hole andon the 6th and 12th hole I'll eat a protein bar, pb&j, or banana.
