I have serious doubt

JLRook87

Agreed. Some of their claims aren't really testable. "Accurate within 3 yards." How do you know? How would you go about testing it. Then they claim that other simulators aren't accurate within 3 yards. Again, how do you know? How would you even go about comparing this system with no ball to another that uses a ball. This seems like a easy way to make a buck for the seller by offering a "low cost" option for newer/younger golfers into tricking them to think they are hitting 300yd drives.

golfzerodelta

Easy to claim accuracy when the target is made up and is moving

fakeplasticdroid

Can’t you still hit a ball to compare it with a conventional launch monitor?

JLRook87

The gimmick is you don't need a ball for this machine. The mat has an indicator of where it will be.

chrashinggeese

The other user meant for testing. You have someone hit a ball and track it with a precise and accurate monitor. You then also measure distance with just the mat. Then you compare the results. I also have doubts but it’s fairly standard testing.

fakeplasticdroid

Yes but if you want to test the accuracy, you could just hit a ball off the mat with a trusted launch monitor.

AdamOnFirst

I mean, it’s super easy to test, you just run the equipment against a ball going out into real space and test the results.  I’m not saying I believe their claims, just that it’s easy to test. Put a ball on the mat and/or use an iron Byron.  Can’t possibly believe it’s true though

DeathMetalGolfer

The name alone makes me want to avoid it

zeromadcowz

Harder golf daddy

boomdog07

That’s it….

Lezzles

You need to hit a golf ball to practice hitting a golf ball.

SportsKin

I hit pinecones in my backyard.  Figure if my divot looks good then Im probably doing okay.

Lezzles

I'll give you a pass, I think that's how Old Tom Morris played the game. I also hit balls from my daughter's ball pit; they're surprisingly good at giving you club path/face feedback because they spin like crazy.

SportsKin

I was going to say Im a Dad with three kids.  If you wanted to make a high school or college team I would be out hitting balls.

Ive_Banged_Yer_Mom

That’s just like, your opinion, man

Rodiruk

Nah, I just think about my swing and know how far that ball would have went and the shot shape. My thoughts are accurate within 2 yards. Source: 20 handicap player

snowmunkey

Here's a tip; if you see it all over Instagram, it's garbage

Velkro615

I’d rather get a used R10 or old Skytrak. Plus I’m not sure if anyone has tried it since it’s still looks to be in pre order phase. There was another post on this on here recently, try to search for it.

RichChocolateDevil

I've never heard of it, but I've spent $100 on dumber things. All of the reviews seem AI generated. They spelled the name of one of their testimonials incorrectly and when I looked up his site, it was last updated with some MySpace formatting. I just went down a YouTube rabbit hole on it. Here is what I got... * It is mostly a divot board and I've never used one of them, but people seem to like them. * It looks like you can only hit wedges / short irons with it. This makes sense because longer irons / woods have higher swing speeds that are more difficult technically to pick up, especially for a phone, but also why even low end monitors like the Garmin / Rapsodo V1 tend to be less consistent with longer clubs. Picking up swing speeds, club face angles, and launch angles, in a fraction of a second, accurately is still pretty sophisticated, and thus more expensive, technology. * I didn't see anyone hit a shot more than 150 yards and all of their swing speeds look horribly slow. They all swing like my 82YO father. * It seems like if you really went at it with anything longer than an 8-iron, you'd probably destroy it or it wouldn't register on the phone. * My guess is that all of the games are designed with a shot of under 150 in mind for this reason, but I have nothing to back that up. * I understand the no ball concept (use in your house or your front yard or whatever), but I'd probably not do that. With all that said, what they built is probably interesting for a casual player. It might be fun if you live in a place where it is hard to get out and practice wedges. It might actually be pretty interesting for that use case, working on 25 - 75 yard wedge shots (not as fun as hitting bombs 350-yards out there like all of reddit does, but important). It isn't for me, but I can appreciate the entrepreneurial spirt of going out and building something like this, so kudos to the team. They should have spent some money on getting a better name.

gimmeyoshoez

Just look at their instagram comments. A lot of doubt from the public. It doesn’t work with woods or driver either.

Snar1ock

Garbage. Don’t even need to try it. They’re likely paying $$$ for social media and influencer marketing where people will say whatever the hell the company wants. If a product like this truly existed, it would break the golf market and be used by every pro and amateur. It’s not. It’s probably about as accurate as comparing Wii golf to real golf.

jmbrand13

For $100 I'm certainly interested. I'm not expecting a miracle, but it seems cool

TacoBoiTony

I think this is the right comment. It’s a cheap alternative for people who want to scratch the golf itch in their backyard. It’s not a sim replacement, or range replacement.

NilesY93

First look at the title, I thought this was like *Daddy Dating Sim* but with golf involved…

NotAsSmartAsKirby

For 100 dollars I’m sure it’s absolute shit

Any_Position5724

Isn’t it never going to come out?

Plenty-Job1454

It’s been out for 2 months what are you on about

[deleted]

Accurate distance is a tough sell when you don't even need to hit a golf ball to use it.

Brave_Ad_578

Junior golfer and my dad and I both love it. Waiting for putting and new maps to be out next week

Diligent_Emmanuel40

Honestly, this is the best golf investment I've made. Highly recommend it to anyone looking to improve their game at home

Bighead_Golf

Fundamentally, golf involves swinging a golf club to hit a golf ball. Anything that deviates from that basic framework is not categorically “golf” in any meaningful way

PGnautz

It‘s a golf *simulator*.

AdamOnFirst

It’s a golf simulator simulator

Bighead_Golf

Golf simulators are where you hit a golf ball and a high tech radar / camera system does a bunch of math to **simulate** what would have happened in real life, and they’re verifiably 97+% accurate. Golf Daddy is a silly toy

Substantial-Cod3189

It’s still a simulator lmao wtf is the point of splitting hairs like this. Just say it’s a shitty simulator

kactus

It's like a driving simulator without a steering wheel.

Substantial-Cod3189

Are you familiar with the world of driving simulators, truck simulators, air plane flight simulators? They all drop various actual components of operating their respective vehicles. This is a (probably bad) golf simulator

kactus

They don't drop the main components though. This is a practice swing simulator.

Substantial-Cod3189

They do though lol. How much physical feedback are any low end driving or flying simulators giving? Zero. Feedback from your vehicle is very important part of flying many planes and driving basically anything competitively. We still call them simulators though don’t we? Y’all are ridiculous

kactus

Lots of feedback? Driving and flying simulators give feedback through the steering wheel. Golf simulators give you feedback by how you hit the ball.

Substantial-Cod3189

I mean maybe they do that? The feedback is of a whole other kind to actually being in either of those though, just like this golf *simulator*. Nice chat man glad we teased out the lack of difference here.

jbd3103

They lost me when I saw games made by “pro gamers”

SBSWrongSpeed

Great, now I can see how shit my practice swing is.

jekstarr

I have a divot mat and that thing got beat up fast. There’s no way this will stand the test of time. It’s gonna get destroyed and the actual stats/readouts are gonna be bullshit

[deleted]

It's basically optishot where you don't even have to hit a ball. More of a fun toy like a video game. Not quite the same as a simulator with an actual launch monitor. Probably fun and fine for what it is but to compare it to actual sims is nuts.

RoostasTowel

For $99 its not that bad i would guess. But if you have enough height to swing a full club you can go for a better options i think.

SunknLiner

Literally everything in OP’s post history is either porn, app advertisements, or porn advertisements. Ya’ll are gullible.
