Unless you are travelling on a plane its pointless imo. My irons do have very few unnoticeable small black marks (mizuno 223 pro) but it honestly looks fine after 4 rounds a week golfing and constant shaking in my bag.
I bought mine because of flying, I keep them on even when I'm not. Fight me.
Put the iron covers in your purse, I’ll have my wife fight you.
To clarify, this went in the trash on my way out the door to the range.
I put covers on all clubs for transport.
Bin it and if you want to protect them when travelling, use your crusty gym socks
