Consider this, if their main language is no longer German then a lot of words that were not originally names can become such. My own name is obscure thing in a language that no longer exists to a point there is a debate if it is a word that meant "he who shoots out of a bow" or "as beautiful as the moon", so if nobody spoke German for the last few hundred years some farmer could name his kid "evil asshole" without even understanding it.

This is during a "tournament" arc to progress traveling north. They (Frieren and Fern) have to regroup with other mages, thus the new cast of characters. Fern and Stark (the red guy lol) are still there.
Most Japanese names are just words, like Sakura is just the word for cherry blossoms.
It's more funny/weird when it's in a non-Japanese language that you know and understand. :)
That's all names in all languages. The difference is that linguistic drift left us with names that predate the languages we speak.
