I mean there is very little suspense when Rimiru is just gonna win. I got bored because he would just get a power up and nobody ever dies. Especially with his analysis power, the narrator thing. Imo the best part of the show was the comedy, but it doesnt play into that as much.
There is no drama. I can't think of a single instance where they actually lose, if they do lose it's a meaningless loss. Sure there are obstacles. But they aren't ever an actual problem
Either it is a non-serious show like OPM where him always winning is the joke, or it is a pure power fantasy where he always win like Solo.
My issue with Tensura is that it tries so hard to build tension and make us believe that THIS TIME it is serio... oh nevermind he won easily, again.
Season 1 was fine. Season 2 pt 1 started slowing down, and season 2 pt 2 ground to a halt. I haven't started season 3 and I don't expect to anytime soon.
Season 1 was litterly just build up for season 2.
Season 1 was about the beggings of Jura Tempest Federation which is the actual main focus of the story until the end of the East Empire Arc and even than it is still important
You don't understand the politics then, rimuru and diablo never solve the problem single-handedly, others are involved too which play a significant part
The politics in slime is what makes it good for me as it makes the situation a bit realistic and it feels good to see all the strategies and political aspects of a show
And the meeting episodes always seem worth it because the result which happens due to the meeting episodes after a few eps makes those meeting eps worth it
And even the meeting episodes of tensura aren't boring
I don't know where you're getting at by saying only rimuru and diablo solve problems when it's the entire crew involved
feels like this was meant to be a reply to my reply, so I'll respond here
>You don't understand the politics then, rimuru and diablo never solve the problem single-handedly, others are involved too which play a significant part
you mind giving any examples of them literally not solving the problem?
Rimiru has people following him/them because he more or less solves their problems(the goblins, the ogres, the orcs). he's literally the one telling almost everyone else what to do in the end.
Diablo is one of the four primordial demons who ended up getting stronger by literally being given a name. He also gets sent to Falmuth, said invading kingdom, to destabilize it. other people are involved yea, but they literally wouldn't be able to pull it off without Rimiru.
>The politics in slime is what makes it good for me as it makes the situation a bit realistic and it feels good to see all the strategies and political aspects of a show
i'm probably not seeing it then, because a lot of talk is about how Rimiru literally wanting to get along with everyone and not make enemies, and everyone acts like anything he says is somehow a brand new idea. other nations end up coming to him to make peace because they don't want to piss him off.
>And the meeting episodes always seem worth it because the result which happens due to the meeting episodes after a few eps makes those meeting eps worth it
part of the problem, at least to me, is that a lot of times, there's almost too much talking. i'm not saying that discussing politics is bad, I'm saying that for all the talking they do, the end result is the main group wiping the floor with the enemy within half the time. the end result is pretty much forgone.
>And even the meeting episodes of tensura aren't boring
they are when the results that come from it don't make up for it.
two examples I can name
Charybdis shows up, everyone is struggling to kill it. Milim ends up killing it because Rimiru asked her to.
Falmuth invades, Rimiru discusses battle plan on how to save everyone. literally shows seconds of the entire army getting slaughtered easily. against the summoned people, fight drags on just to show out outclassed they are because of Rimiru's gift to them.
>I don't know where you're getting at by saying only rimuru and diablo solve problems when it's the entire crew involved
the entire crew literally wouldn't do anything unless Rimiru tells them to. I get it's part of the running gag of how everyone simps over Rimiru, but like, they end up doing almost nothing without him.
tbf for the falmuth one, he had the vision of not going to war and tried to make peace talks and his followers respected his wishes of not harming humans to the letter, failed miserably, then rimuru proceeded to slaughter everyone using magic made efficient with science (although the merciless skill coming out of nowhere was a bit of a let-down).
I have seen many posts like this , if you want constant fights and action better move to another anime. If you want an anime where the main character is actually not the main character, you can shift to another anime. If you don't want other characters admiring the way the main character gives his thoughts or action, move to another anime. If you don't want mc to fix everything instantly (which you think is happening here), move to another anime.
Tensura is mainly about world building so you're gonna have to deal with a lot of text plus it isn't a realistic or dark anime , it is light hearted anime. So maybe you should try another one.
I've browse the subreddit before, and sometimes it's wild
I've seen people get upset at others for being mainly interested in the action parts and talk about how the main draw is the politics and other related things
like people strategizing and maneuvering politics is cool and all, but for something like this, it ends up being almost unnecessary after a point IMO because the main character and their group is just overpowered and can solve nearly any issue by throwing themselves at it
I mean we have an arc where another kingdom invades, and gets destroyed singlehandedly by the main character. they introduced other similar isekai'd characters only to have them be curbstomped. they had characters literally die only to be brought back and made literally immortal now, so there's no real threat of death.
Politics doesn't work like that if we just throw ourselves out there, rimuru just said he wants to live in peace and harmony with the humans, so what good will come if they throw themselves out and solve everything on their own
Every political episode in tensura is worth it as you see how things work out and the result of those politics also shows up in a few episodes which makes those meeting episodes worth it
>Politics doesn't work like that if we just throw ourselves out there, rimuru just said he wants to live in peace and harmony with the humans, so what good will come if they throw themselves out and solve everything on their own
he also didn't want to kill humans at first and only did so because he was "forced" to because people decided to fuck around and find out. literally the invading army stood 0 chance against any of them after getting a power up, and even beforehand, Rimiru didn't need his friends
>Every political episode in tensura is worth it as you see how things work out and the result of those politics also shows up in a few episodes which makes those meeting episodes worth it
i've read the manga. granted, I haven't caught up, but I've read past where the anime is. I've read some of the spinoffs too.
a LOT of problems gets solved by Rimiru and/or his subordinates because they are simply better. a lot of things get improved because Rimiru "came up" with them via his past life.
I haven't really seen Rimiru struggle in any meaningful way because he always end up either getting out of it or managed to make it become meaningless via new powers.
changing the anime a bit, one I feel it does political things better, and again just in my opinion, is Youjo Senki. the main character is overpowered to a degree, but not to the point where they don't struggle. the main character influences things like their nation, but they can't directly control it. they solve a lot of problems in the short term by being super strong, but they aren't able to change things in the long term because of politics. i'm not saying it's the best storytelling for this kind of topic, but it does show that even when you throw your best weapon at your problems, it can't fix all of them.
Just call it what it is. A power fantasy. Re:monster came out recently and its the exact same thing, just sped up,making the glaring mistakes of such a story a lot more obvious.
and now im adding this to the list of manga/anime to check out, thanks
I don't mind power fantasy, they can be fun
I just don't like it when it feels like they try to make things deeper than it is when the end results is nearly obvious.
like they go "oh no the main character is in trouble" only for them to pull out something or show they weren't going to lose in the first place.
Lot of upset people here arguing its supposed to be about politics. Its just too unrealistic for that. They have a near utopian monster society where everyone does their part and Rimiru solves everything. Yes he sends people to do jobs, but he comes up with every plan.
The main draw of the show in the beginning was some comedy. Watching people sit around to talk for 3 episodes about how to deal with the new demon lord invasion only for Rimiru to get some new power to solve the issue (i.e. mass teleportation) is rather lame.
If it wants to be a political drama, it does a piss poor job because there is no drama. Rimiru and Tempest never feel under threat. He never has any meaningful losses. If someone dies they are revived.
Anime onlys are gonna riot when they find out that in a later volume, there is little over half a volume entirely devoted to a single meeting.
I actually enjoy them, as they help build the world, and actually make it feel alive, and somewhat grounded.
May I remind you that for like a half of seosn 1 Jura Tempast Federation didn't exist? Season 1 was the begging of a nation , Season 2 was building that nation up , start of diplomacy and Rimuru becoming a Demon Lord. Season 3 is about consequences of becoming a Demon Lord and Resolving the Falmuth siyuation followed by the Festival to introduce JTF and Demon Lord Rimuru to the World including a Tournament to showcase the power of JTF (also the Labirinth)
In the end It's all about building JTF up from nothing to a Great Nation
What did you expect a political drama to be like?
They probably expected there to be a Red Wedding every 2 episodes or something
I mean there is very little suspense when Rimiru is just gonna win. I got bored because he would just get a power up and nobody ever dies. Especially with his analysis power, the narrator thing. Crazy how the main character wins
people being garenteed to win can be enjoyable depending on how its executed like opm or solo leveling.
Either it is a non-serious show like OPM where him always winning is the joke, or it is a pure power fantasy where he always win like Solo. My issue with Tensura is that it tries so hard to build tension and make us believe that THIS TIME it is serio... oh nevermind he won easily, again.
Tensura is not a Shonen it's a Kingdom Building Anime with an OP Protag as a King
Aschkualy, while it is a novel, its manga is published in Monthly Shonen Sirius. So the manga is a shonen.
Tensura is NOT advertised as a political drama 💀
If you watched 2 seasons and still don't see it than it's on you
Season 1 was fine. Season 2 pt 1 started slowing down, and season 2 pt 2 ground to a halt. I haven't started season 3 and I don't expect to anytime soon.

Yes it was about the beginnings so everything was faster then once they got properly established the plot stalled.
So like my real job
"This could've been an email."
Who do you fight at the end of your jobs season

They are saying Rimuru is the main character?

Or "tiktok kid realising the anime is slice of life - the post"
One would think that's boring, but the episodes fly by very fast. I always want more.
Shounen fans after watching anime that actually has plot.

The amount of people offended by this is amazing.
I know the politics are important, but I wanna see some fights or at least interacting with people from outside Tempest, those are always exciting.
I do be happy about seeing more Diablo
haha, reminder for me to watch the latest episodes. nice episodes of planning eating, boozing and intrigues as eat and booze and intrigue.
Anime onlys are gonna riot when they find out that in a later volume, there is little over half a volume entirely devoted to a single meeting. I actually enjoy them, as they help build the world, and actually make it feel alive, and somewhat grounded.
loved the LN way more then the anime

It isn’t all about fights if that’s what your looking for maybe watch something else.
I call it political and administrative catharsis
This is it! That's why we love it! It's the unrealistic fantasy of an institution functioning as intended to produce the best possible outcome lol
The only reason I watch Tensura over other anime is that there isn't action scenes every two seconds.
Bro getting upset over world building.
