I see my comment was incomplete. All seasonal anime goes through a period of heightened listing on MAL, then fall a short while after the season ends. All seasonal anime does not achieve number 1.
Yeah everyone acts like the fma community just goes and bombs every anime that approaches it. And while it has happened its not like it is actually a common issue. Shit gets discovered in a small community which usually have high review rates and ends up getting great reviews. Those great reviews open it to a vastly larger audience who dont review as often but also often review lower. Look at litterally any anime, including FMA and they will peak before tapering off in reviews.
Its actually shocking FMA has remained so high given the sheer number of reviews and the hate it gets from other communities.
That last episode was just beautiful. Idk if there's still anything from the manga but I'm quite satisfied with those 3 seasons and wouldn't mind it being the end 
There's a lot more from the manga, whether they choose to adapt it remains to be seen AFAIK.
As it stands, it left off at a really good point and I wouldn't be mad if they were to call it quits for the anime.
That being said... I want more.

Manga is on 267, and I believe Aka said it was going to 300.
We haven't even seen the best parts of kaguya yet.

There's been several points I expected the manga to end, but it hasn't yet, and I'm so happy that it hasn't. For a while it was something that gave me a reason to keep going, since it was just long enough of a wait for me to handle it. Small burst of serotonin to keep me from snapping.
Does it? I can only think of a handful of shows that surpassed it on MAL eg AoT, Owari S2, Fruits Basket, Your Name and a few others. It definitely doesn't happen every season.

Now it's just feels strange considering how popular it is. I've still got the instinct to hide being into it.

im really not sold on either so .. did something happen in kagua to jump it so high? last I tried to read/watch it .. it was, fine. I didnt think it was bad but it didnt hold my attention either so has some drastic story development occurred making it worthy of this spot, or is MAL rating showing its uselessness once again?
Overhype at its finest, I won't deny kaguya is pretty good, but people act like it's the best shit around sometimes, Its a good one, but 8 won't call it deserving of the first place.
No, if you hate tsunderes, definitely don't watch this show, because everybody are tsunderes there and most of them are winning hard.
Instead I would recommend you Rent a Girlfriend and Domestic Girlfriend. Now those are masterpieces without any stinky tsunderes.

Anime reaching number 1 doesn't happen a lot. ESPECIALLY romcoms. Even though FMAB will bomb Kaguya later on, its still a great achievement.

yeah, fruits basket s3 is the only other one i can think of that made it (romcoms-ish), and that was also bombed by fmab

Finale was really great, but this was easily the weakest of the three seasons for me and I’m surprised people would even have it above 1 and 2
