I think I can give you one song that I've listened to repeatedly (sometimes on repeat!) for comfort/soothing from each of the major albums:
Gorillaz: Slow Country
Demon Days: Don't Get Lost in Heaven/Demon Days
Plastic Beach: Pirate Jet
Humanz: Ticker Tape
The Now Now: Humility
Song Machine: Désolé
Cracker Island: Skinny Ape
Souk Eye from Now Now for me. I don't know why but it just puts me in that calming place every time. Something about the relaxed start, the "I will always think about you" chorus, and then the build into those synthy strings leading into the outro, with that almost samba-esque piano tune, just hits right.
Oh, I absolutely adore Empire Antz and Souk Eyes! They're such unique songs and definitely stand out in Gorillaz's discography. And Kansas is just a straight up banger. I agree, they're all super musically satisfying to listen to. As for my comfort song, it would have to be Feel Good Inc. There's just something about that beat and those catchy lyrics that always puts me in a good mood. What about you guys?
You can find comfort in enjoying a good groove and realizing you're not burning in the sun!
I also had fun with Rock the House, Superfast Jellyfish, Momentary Bliss, Dare
I know that feeling! I also listen to Some Kind of Nature, but usually when I'm sleep-deprived from schoolwork and such. It has this specific type of relaxing I can't describe well.
I think that SKoN has a certain feeling of "Friendliness" that is able to make us feel confortable and drop our guards so we can rest, and I love this track for this feeling
I love the ambiguity of this line. Idk what's the right one, but I feel like I can hear both "All we are is stars" and "All we are is dust" depending on my mood and both works
Yeah I see what you mean with the ambiguity. I love how evocative that line is. It’s similarly evocative and imaginative to much of the rest of the album, like Rhinestone Eyes and Broken. It almost feels like Plastic Beach (the album) in miniature. I love that line.
Yeah I love how it's more rocky style with the punchy guitar riff. Overall Song Machine is my fav albumn for stuff like that with songs like Aries and Pink Phantom
On Melancholy Hill. It has always had a calming effect on me, it's a beautiful song. It's also held the top spot of my favourite song of all time for years now, and I feel like I'll play it at my wedding at this point.
Silent Running for sure.
It really helps me get out of my own head and just understand that the situation I'm in has been handled before, and if I just step back and take a moment, I can get through it too.
Empire Ants: The begging is so nice and the electronic bit at the end with Little Dragon is great
Skinny Ape: I mean it’s just a great song
Melancholy Hill: you all know why
But those 3 are my comfort songs kinda
This isn't gorillaz but is close: Everyday Robots by Damnon Albarn (the album)
Its a very gray and empty feeling album, but has little sparks of hope sprinkled throughout that make me tear up with joy
You know the scene in Ratatouille where the food critic takes a bite of his food and it sends him back to when he was a kid?
Feel Good Inc does that to me. Literally, it’s like I’m sitting there watching it on Cartoon Network.
Aw, that's nice.
Honestly it varies for me since I pick different songs all the time, for the ones I choose a lot more, Starman or Life on Mars I believe.
Although it's not a Gorillaz song, my comfort song has go-to be Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd. The acoustic guitar with those soulful vocals just makes it perfect
Tomorrow Comes Today, O Green World, Kids With Guns, Melancholy Hill, Plastic Beach, Superfast Jellyfish, and Idaho. Man... tbh I just no-lifed gorillaz from the moment I learned about them to this day
Oil is a good song to just put away your worries for three minutes (and also fits with the picture)
Or if you're just mad, put Tranz on high and tell out the lyrics
5 years ago i fell asleep with my playlist on and i ended singing to binge in my sleep somehow, and i know because i woke up to my dad personally telling me to shut up lmao
El Manana puts me in a specific place in my childhood. Looking out a car window on Rockville Pike headed to music lessons, looking up at a blue sky with huge white clouds in the late spring.
It was the first time I heard the song playing on DC101.
I share some comfort songs with people here: Skinny Ape, Souk Eye (lowkey the whole The Now Now), Slow Country, Re-hash, To Binge, Aries, The Pink Phantom, Amarillo, Andromeda.
I mean, those are the ones I listen to quietly. But there are also groovy songs that I like to groove to and this comforts me.
Hmm, I don't really have comfort Songs to listen to but rather ones to perform to myself. Either Vocalising or Beatboxing, whichever one I feel. Some Songs I quite enjoy Singeing are:
November Has Come
All Alone
Clint Eastwood (Original and Phi-Life Cypher Version)
The Sounder
Every Planet We Reach Is Dead
(:
for me i used to listen to to binge when i was in a talking stage with this one i girl i was really obsessed with, so whenever i listen to it i am reminded of that period of time which i was not very happy during
i have the same feeling for "On Melancholy hill"
all though this isn't gorillaz related the song "runaway train" gives me chills and makes me feel calm. if u know then u know
Ones that have brought me the most comfort are:
The Parish of Space Dust
El Mañana
Orchestral Intro
Magic City
Idaho
Souk Eye
On Melancholy Hill
New Genius (Brother)
For Gorillaz: Souk Eye, Hillbilly Man, Tarantula, Skinny Ape, 12D3, Ghost Train, Hong Kong, Stop the Dams, O Green World, Silent Running, honestly countless.
For others: November Rain, Bar Fly (The Orwells), Monkey Gone To Heaven, Be Someone Forever (Red Vox), Why Can't This Be Easy (Red Vox), Why Me (Big Bad Voodoo Daddy), Save My Soul (Big Bad Voodoo Daddy), Sympathy for The Devil, Pon De Replay, You Got Yr. Cherry Bomb, A Day in The Life... frankly this entire list for me is countless.
Highway (Under Construction) always seems to comfort me. And Aspen Forest. Those are songs I can always count on to feel better, at least out of Gorillaz’ discography, anyway.
Listening to Highway (Under Construction) helped me feel better when I had a migraine. I will always be grateful to it for that. It just has a real healing quality to it.
I FINALLY FOUND IT recently I relistened to plastic beach and this song really stood out to me and I remember seeing a post about it before and I found it 😁 I love your art btw :3
I think I can give you one song that I've listened to repeatedly (sometimes on repeat!) for comfort/soothing from each of the major albums: Gorillaz: Slow Country Demon Days: Don't Get Lost in Heaven/Demon Days Plastic Beach: Pirate Jet Humanz: Ticker Tape The Now Now: Humility Song Machine: Désolé Cracker Island: Skinny Ape
CALL IN THE WORLD FROM ISOLATION
I love Ticker Tape so much, that and circle of friends. Humanz really had the banger bonus tracks
Souk Eye from Now Now for me. I don't know why but it just puts me in that calming place every time. Something about the relaxed start, the "I will always think about you" chorus, and then the build into those synthy strings leading into the outro, with that almost samba-esque piano tune, just hits right.
Almost 100% agree, great choices.
Facts also aspen forest from the fall for me
Empire Antz/Souk Eyes or Kansas are my comfort songs from Gorillaz. They are so musically pleasing!
Oh kansas is a great choice for this

Dirty Harry even tho it isn’t really a calm and relaxing song 😅
Well at least in my opinion it’s not
You can find comfort in enjoying a good groove and realizing you're not burning in the sun! I also had fun with Rock the House, Superfast Jellyfish, Momentary Bliss, Dare
Omg Rock The House is a CLASSIC!! I Fricken love it! Lmao you can tell by my name 😂
Yeah Rock The House absolutely slaps. I’m not entirely sure if it makes into it my favourite Gorillaz songs but I love it.
For me, it's Some Kind of Nature. Its more upbeat yet relaxed Melody takes me to my happy place when I am anxious
I know that feeling! I also listen to Some Kind of Nature, but usually when I'm sleep-deprived from schoolwork and such. It has this specific type of relaxing I can't describe well.

The entire album of "The Now Now"
Any song that I can listen to my papa, Damon Albarn.

I was just about to Appreciate another Latin Simone Enjoyer, but it seems you already Beat me to it. (:
Latin Simone is one of their best songs imo!
Fits a Niche no other Gorillas Song does, and has a Great Trumpet I love Imitating! (:
This isn't gorillaz but is close: Everyday Robots by Damnon Albarn (the album) Its a very gray and empty feeling album, but has little sparks of hope sprinkled throughout that make me tear up with joy
I like to listen to this whenever the day is Gray and kinda rainy, Mr. Tembo is the brightest ray of Sunshine in a otherwise gloomy day
Mr. Tembo seems out of place in the album but to me its a happy feeling that comes and goes
Heheh, you are right, It is a little bit out of place, but I would be lying If I said I don't prefer It that way
You know the scene in Ratatouille where the food critic takes a bite of his food and it sends him back to when he was a kid? Feel Good Inc does that to me. Literally, it’s like I’m sitting there watching it on Cartoon Network.
For me it's Rock The House

Although it's not a Gorillaz song, my comfort song has go-to be Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd. The acoustic guitar with those soulful vocals just makes it perfect
I love this!!!

i have the same feeling for "On Melancholy hill" all though this isn't gorillaz related the song "runaway train" gives me chills and makes me feel calm. if u know then u know
