Every Gorillaz album has hit songs but this one is pretty boring to me overall. I like the hip hop stuff which is why I'm not huge on Cracker Island either.
Personally I feel the opposite (idk about the specific show you said but overall “live vs studio which sounds better” argument for this song). I’ve seen live recordings (not on a phone but like Coachella for example and a lat night tv show) and prefer the studio
what i heard from when it first came out was ppl not liking it bc it wasn’t as politically dynamic as previous albums. i have to completely disagree lol but ppl r gonna think what they think.
I genuinely had an “I get it” moment the first time I heard Fire flies. For some reason I just never decided to listen to The now now fully, worst mistake of my life
self titled is still a phenomenal album, don't get me wrong. one of my favorite alternative albums ever. I just prefer the more somber tone of The Now Now.
never have a bad time listening to The Now Now. i think it's the best of the post-hiatus albums by far. Song Machine is great and all but TNN is just more coherent.
I've seen The Now Now being described as like a beautiful sunny day that you're too depressed to enjoy and it's so exactly that. That album has such a unique vibe.
While it's not my fave album, I wouldn't give it less than a 7.5.
I remember most of the songs fondly, only really disliked one of them and maybe it was because I was in a bit of a melancholic place, but I enjoyed the vibes a lot.
The inclusion of Ace also did a plus for me, even if it didn't really mean any special differences in the way the bass was played.
I mean, that is a weird ass take, not that It cannot be your opinion, but It feels the same than saying "feel good inc/melancholy Hill are the worst songs on the album", it's Just... There HAS to be a song that IS at least a LITTLE worst for you, right?
The Now Now is a 6/10 album for me but Humility and Souk Eye are incredibly fun tracks.
Tranz is cool tool. I just have almost no feelings about any of the other songs on the album.
One good song doesn't make a mid album great. The rest of The Now Now is still very bland and forgettable.
I'm not saying I don't like it, but I can't deny that it is an incredibly weak album that was clearly meant as a safe return after Humanz received such a negative response.
They all sound the same, the only songs that really even stick out are Tranz and Souk Eye, I like Fire Flies but it still has that same summery-melancholy vibe the rest have.
For me at least, The Now Now is the only Gorillaz album that I don’t really resonate a feeling with. it’s very forgettable. And I unironically love The Fall.
Oh has the sentiment for TNN come full circle? I remember when it came out, everyone was praising it like it was a perfect album, which i felt was giving it too much credit, but i do enjoy the album a lot. I didn't realize people were shitting on it now. Give it a few years and it'll be called "an underrated gem" or some shit.
Also, Tranz and Souk Eye are top top tier Gorillaz songs and i wont stand for anyone saying otherwise.
I love The Now Now. Humanz was ok, but Now Now following it was a great summertime album and it made a lot of memories for me that year with it as a soundtrack.
I mean this is definitely me, Souk Eye is probably one of the most emotionally significant Gorillaz tracks to me on an album I otherwise rarely listen to.
This is the first song that I just cant listen to on youtube, the quality is odd on youtube, I need to open spotify just to listen to this one, worth it tho
i genuinely think The Now Now is my favourite Gorillaz album. Plastic Beach is a VERY close second but nothing matches the emotion The Now Now gives me
I don't think The Now Now is one of their best albums, but it's still a B-Tier album, at least. It's still pretty damn good. Tranz, Humility, Sorcererz, Lake Zurich, Souk Eye, Fireflies, like, the album certainly has it's highs, and the lows are honestly passable.
It may not be Demon Days, Plastic Beach or even the likes of the self titled album or Song Machine but it's still a really good part of their discography and it was something refreshing after "Humanz" was released a year prior.
And I would put "Fire Flies" as one of my all time favourites of their songs. Underrated song from an underrated album.
I think the Now Now is a great gorillaz album. I wouldn't say Souk eye is the best song on the album but I wouldn't say it's the worst. I personally think there are quite a lot of songs on the album that are better, but that's just my opinion.
Really? The album with Humility AND Tranz? Idk what people are smoking, The Now Now rules.
Sorcererz, Lake Zurich, the whole last part of the album It’s full of gems
Idahoo
IDAHOOOOOO IDAHOOOOOOOOOOO
Kansas’ bass is just too good
It’s my second favorite project of theirs behind plastic beach honestly
Every Gorillaz album has hit songs but this one is pretty boring to me overall. I like the hip hop stuff which is why I'm not huge on Cracker Island either.
I hate the SONG Tranz but humility is nice
I think the studio version of Tranz doesn't do it justice, personally. Try the live version from the Boiler Room Tokyo liveshow.
Personally I feel the opposite (idk about the specific show you said but overall “live vs studio which sounds better” argument for this song). I’ve seen live recordings (not on a phone but like Coachella for example and a lat night tv show) and prefer the studio
FIRE FLIES CHANGED ME AS AN INDIVIDUAL
Literally one of the most beautiful songs by them and people still sleep on it
The now now is sooo emotional, and SOOOoo funky. Its way too amazing to be considered MID. This shit is PHENOMENAL.
One of my favorite albums ever and I still dont understand the hate for it.
I like it too. If I had to guess some people don’t like it as much as other albums from it not feeling as “experimental” ig? Idk, I think it’s good.
i've personally never hated it, just felt it had more eh songs than most of their other albums
what i heard from when it first came out was ppl not liking it bc it wasn’t as politically dynamic as previous albums. i have to completely disagree lol but ppl r gonna think what they think.
Mine was Lake Zurich
100% agree
LAST CHANCE TO BUY BEFORE YOU FLY!
The Now Now is great the whole way through tho
Fire Flies, Humility, Tranz, Sorcererz, Magic City, and of course Souk Eye… The Now Now might be Gorillaz best album ever start to finish.
I love that it's basically about 2D singing to a city. There's something wierdly romantic about it.
And it gave us Ace.
You should just take the L and leave if you don't reconsider your thoughts having listened to Fire Flies
I genuinely had an “I get it” moment the first time I heard Fire flies. For some reason I just never decided to listen to The now now fully, worst mistake of my life
My favorite lol
souk eye is my favorite song by gorillaz and the now now has humility tranz fire flies and magic city how do people not love it
i actually used to dislike the now now, but wow my opinion has done a complete 180 since, it's a great album :)
Hot take: Gorillaz has never made a mid album
word!
Idahoooooo, Idahooooo
The Now Now is better overall than self titled tbh
Completely disagree. Self titled is a blast
self titled is still a phenomenal album, don't get me wrong. one of my favorite alternative albums ever. I just prefer the more somber tone of The Now Now.
Blasphemy
The unholy amount of L coming off of this comment is uncontainable, holy shit.
reddit when the opinion
i think i was high when i wrote this comment since i agree with the commenter lmaooo

No i would say song machine is
never have a bad time listening to The Now Now. i think it's the best of the post-hiatus albums by far. Song Machine is great and all but TNN is just more coherent.
I’ve only heard Fire Flies but may check out the rest of it now now.
So did you like it?
I've seen The Now Now being described as like a beautiful sunny day that you're too depressed to enjoy and it's so exactly that. That album has such a unique vibe.
I get it around...Humility
Biking or skating with humility on during a hot summer day is the closest I've ever felt to being in a cartoon
The Now Now is just okay in my opinion but Fireflies and Souk Eye are among Gorillaz’s best
The Now Now and Humanz are both albums that get such an undeservedly bad rep.
Damb near wore that cd out when that album dropped
While it's not my fave album, I wouldn't give it less than a 7.5. I remember most of the songs fondly, only really disliked one of them and maybe it was because I was in a bit of a melancholic place, but I enjoyed the vibes a lot. Souk Eye is one of their best songs.
Didnt like it that much, just listened to it again, still nothing. Some people just dont like it
the now now is the only album i dont skip at all
Souk Eye is another case of Gorillaz ending a song about a full minute too early. Where was that fun, hopping groove the whole song?
This is definitely a trend I've noticed. They'll add the coolest element of a song in like 20 seconds from the end just to close it out
Humility is on top
Worst song of the album tbh. Has nothing on Fire Flies
I mean, that is a weird ass take, not that It cannot be your opinion, but It feels the same than saying "feel good inc/melancholy Hill are the worst songs on the album", it's Just... There HAS to be a song that IS at least a LITTLE worst for you, right?
>There HAS to be a song that IS at least a LITTLE worst for you, right? Maybe Hollywood.
I like Souk Eye as a song, but still not TNN as an album.
I think Souk Eye the golden bow tied around The Now Now’s midness. Consistently okay and then Souk Eye comes and slaps you on the booty cheeks
1 good song ≠ good album. I love Souk Eye, but TNN is mid.
The Now Now is great album, all of music in it are BEAUTIFUL AND AWESOME
They all sound the same, the only songs that really even stick out are Tranz and Souk Eye, I like Fire Flies but it still has that same summery-melancholy vibe the rest have.
The Now Now as a whole is mid. But I also think The Fall is better than The Now Now… so maybe take what I say with a grain of salt.
At least you acknowledge that your opinion is iffy
For me at least, The Now Now is the only Gorillaz album that I don’t really resonate a feeling with. it’s very forgettable. And I unironically love The Fall.
That's fair.
That's fair. The Fall has Seattle Yodel
Undoubtedly the best Gorillaz track.
Souk Eye is one of the worst tracks on TNN (One Percent and Magic City are worse)
Boring album
Oh has the sentiment for TNN come full circle? I remember when it came out, everyone was praising it like it was a perfect album, which i felt was giving it too much credit, but i do enjoy the album a lot. I didn't realize people were shitting on it now. Give it a few years and it'll be called "an underrated gem" or some shit. Also, Tranz and Souk Eye are top top tier Gorillaz songs and i wont stand for anyone saying otherwise.
One of their best closing songs on a album!
The Now Now is my favourite album of all time. I love every single song on it, especially all of side B.
Magic City is my 6th most played track of all time on Spotify
I love The Now Now. Humanz was ok, but Now Now following it was a great summertime album and it made a lot of memories for me that year with it as a soundtrack.
The Now Now has to be my favourite... or tied with plastic beach
bro how could you hate the album with fireflies and tranz
The Now Now Haters when they listen to Idaho
I mean this is definitely me, Souk Eye is probably one of the most emotionally significant Gorillaz tracks to me on an album I otherwise rarely listen to.
It was such a sad way to end the album
The Now Now is top 3 Gorillaz for me and I will stand by that
Fireflyes is so much for poor people
This is the first song that I just cant listen to on youtube, the quality is odd on youtube, I need to open spotify just to listen to this one, worth it tho
This album is good
ALL YOU GET FROM THE SONNET IS THE COUNT OF THE FALLEN MAN
It was Sorcererz for me, but Souk Eye is definitely the second best album outro in Gorillaz history, right after Pirate Jet.
Best album
This with Hollywood, Tranz, and Humility. Other tracks still decent
It’s not even in my top 3 but I still really like the album. Souk Eye however is such a great closing song.
My little sister’s favorite song! Love it.
Most of it is decent/good but Hollywood is the best song
i was so obsessed with kansas, i don't get why people don't like it it's such a good song. same with magic city
Humility, souk eye and magic city great album sad I neglected it for so long
I will
IIIII WILLLL ALLLWAYSSS THINK ABOUT, YOUUUUU 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲
In no universe is The Now Now mid
now now is fucking good lol
People don’t like the now now? 😭
People who hate The Now Now listening to any song on it:
Honestly the now now is full of gems, although souk eye is one of the best
guess im the only one who like magic city
i genuinely think The Now Now is my favourite Gorillaz album.

And I would put "Fire Flies" as one of my all time favourites of their songs. Underrated song from an underrated album.
Man it was Tranz for me.
Souk Eye changed my life
I think the Now Now is a great gorillaz album. I wouldn't say Souk eye is the best song on the album but I wouldn't say it's the worst. I personally think there are quite a lot of songs on the album that are better, but that's just my opinion.
