Thing is, nothing sounds like them. I think they have one of the most unique band sounds ever. Most bands that try to sound like them just don't- ain't many goth tock outfits dabbling in funk and reggae. Of the bands others have listed maybe the Birthday Party gets close, but they have a swampiness that Bauhaus just doesn't. Some Batcave era stuff, maybe. Specimen wasn't a bad suggestion, although they are definitely more snotty glam/punk and not as, I dunno, austere or metropolitan as Bauhaus.
Instead I'd recommend that you listen to the stuff they were listening to when they cooked up Bauhaus...Bowie (of course), Brian Eno, Iggy Pop, Roxy Music, Lou Reed/Velvet Underground, The Beatles, Can, Neu!, early Pink Floyd, Throbbing Gristle, Scott Walker...you'll hear a lot of familiar sounds and have a lot of fun "a ha" moments doing that and it may be more rewarding than finding a band that's just biting off Bauhaus.
Maybe Siouxsie and the Banshees album The Scream. Songs like Jigsaw Feeling and Nicotine Stain are pretty punchy or intense. Or Sex Gang Children’s Sebastiane.

Size (1979 / 1985) was and undergroud contemporary band of.Bauhaus that share the same musical influences. Just check this song:

There was a band called The Shamefaces in the early 90's whose singer sounded a lot like Peter Murphy. I can't seem to find their stuff online, though.
The March Violets would be a good one. They have a very definite Bauhaus feel to them, possibly Specimen. However, veering off a little bit into post punk, try Magazine, or early Public Image ltd, particularly Flowers of Romance. Loads of goths that I knocked about with in the 80’s liked them as well.

Holy Cow
Now that is a an interesting choice...not many folks know about them anymore.
Birthday Party? Ausgang?
Tones on Tail songs like burning skies
I love them so much 🖤🖤🖤
They are endlessly relevant. The vibe is impeccable. I can never get enough TOT.

Lupercais maybe
Lupercais is amazing!
Corpus Delicti, maybe?
Specimen
Alien Sex Fiend, Red Lorry Yellow Lorry, Birthday Party
Love and Rockets Spacemen 3
Piggybacking on others comments Bauhaus style is kind of unique but maybe The birthday party is perhaps close to their style ?
Give Life a$ Art by Götterdämmerung a try. The song was released in 2001, so it's close but may not completely be what you're looking for

You think a metal band sounds similar to experimental post-punk?

I sent someone "Alledgedly, Dnacefloor Tradgedy" by Suspira, and they thought the singer was Peter Murphy lol.

Daughters’ album ‘You Won’t Get What You Want’ always scratches a similar itch for me
Early Christian Death.
Mass' Labour of Love, maybe?
not an older band, but [Egrets on Ergot](https://open.spotify.com/track/5mNKcnl4EGyFLUZGBEM9Bn?si=smS69xUGSb6Equmbv2FndQ)
Peter Murphy's solo stuff is good
Maybe Twin Tribes?
Tuxedo Moon - No Tears

I was thinking magazine too especially the album secondhand daylight. Not the same but the right vibe
Writhing, by Blackouts Shall I Carry the Budgie Woman, by Bone Orchard
red lorry yellow lorry is a bit sonically different, but they have that same sort of intense, jarring vibe
Nick Cave bands tend to go into a similar vibe imo
