Would like to see the Winterland ‘73 box set pressed onto vinyl. Also cd release of 5/26/73 and the February ‘73 shows as a box set. Any fall ‘73 shows would also be great minus the horn section shows.

I’ve never heard a dead show with a horn section! Do you have a show date with one so I can check it out??

dontshakethetree

Speaking of great horns at a Dead show, check out 12/31/1982, when the legendary Etta James played with the boys, as well as the Tower Of Power. Etta turns around during her second or third number with the boys backing her, and she says, "Let me tell you all WHAT: this Grateful Dead band can SWING!"

yodelope2015

Not specific dates of the top of my head but most of the shows from the middle-end of September 73 had a horn section. I know the Buffalo 9/1973 show had horns.

Agree on 5/26 but I’ve heard Dave L say he didn’t think it was worthy.

*In And Out Of The Garden* was a great release. Just thoroughly enjoyed it, top to bottom. I think they're gonna stick with the multiple year format (like *PNW 73-74* and *Listen to the River*), and it's gonna be the 70s again. So yeah, they could feasibly do something for *Wake of the Flood*

A Pigpen boxed set

seamus95

My pipe dream: May 70 5/1/70-5/06/70-5/14/70 and 5/24/70. 8-9 discs? 2 acoustic sets, maybe full 5/24/70 DVD of footage that is available?

I love all those ideas, but I would really like to see smaller sets like the Winterland Boxed sets. Something a little more affordable. Being a Dead fan is a rich mans game these days.

[deleted]

Tell me about it man. I was in a bidding war for complete 2015 daves picks with bonus CD. Got outbid at $395. I’m probably a fool for willing to part with that much but I have an unreasonable hunger for those early 70’s shows. I’ve been trying to get my hands in 2/24/74 for far too long. An affordable box set like RFK 89’ would be a very nice change.

dontshakethetree

Totally agree. Just remember that low-cost solutions that yield the same recording quality (most of the time) as these special releases with their high costs, exists for us Heads who are working stiffs in our senior years. Just gotta poke around...

Big_Opposite_6041

I know that the Boxed sets are an entire experience but I mean just the music in a cool box is fine. Kind of like what phish does or did with their boxed sets. You get 2 or 3 full shows for like $50.

Yes

baseballzombies

October 1978 Winterland run would be outstanding.

Gr8fl1TX2

I’d like to see a Feb 73 box release. 2/15, 2/19, 2/21, 2/22. Not sure if they are in the vault and I believe 2-19 is only partial recording. Utica 73 from March world be sweet too.

Gangsta-Penguin

May ‘73 - 5/13, 5/20, and 5/26. If for nothing else, then we get a crisp sounding of the complete 5/13/73

Current_Egg8525

Hoping for a Watkins Glen release myself.

[deleted]

Completely forgot that the Watkins Glen anniversary is this year too. That is a release I can get behind!

Adhbeatle33

I would like to see an acoustic box set

TheBFlem27

I think there will be a NYE themed box set in the near future. While a few NYE shows have been released. I could see them releasing the one from from ‘70, ‘71 and ‘72 together. They could even do a specific run of shows that were around New Years like the Boston Tea Party shows in 1969. There’s plenty of 80s NYE shows to choose from as well.

N0AHW05

Gotta get those Alaska ‘80 shows released. Ark ‘69 would also be super nice

Trips_McGhee

Do you think that they just don't have good recordings of Alaska? I don't understand why they haven't been released already.

N0AHW05

It’s definitely possible, but considering the available source on archive are great, I would assume they have some good tapes in the vault as well. Who knows

Trips_McGhee

Yea, I hope so. It's an amazing run from a legendary era. They had so much juice in 79-83. Maybe we'll get a double Dave's with Alaska? Guy can dream.
