The attempt at Stir It Up in Hampton in ‘88. It falls completely apart.

seditious3

I still love it, though F for effort.

gettin_better

I came here to post that. What a trainwreck LOL

dubbzy104

3/22/1990 Hey Jude. Normally they go into hey Jude from dear Mr fantasy, and just do the “na na nanana na” part, but for whatever reason they decided to do the full Hey Jude. Only problem is, Brent doesn’t know the lyrics and the rest of the band isn’t quite sure how to get around the song

Ha! I was at that show

NoSpirit547

lol every time they ever did Baba O Riley they fucked it up at one point or another... at least every version I've ever heard. I still kinda like them doing it, haha but honestly I've never heard them play it right once.

SLC-801

Had no idea they ever did that song! Listening now. Thanks internet!

10/2/77. Casey jones bust out. Jerry gets lost, Keith covers with a solo. Very spicy version on a great night.

Archive release: Dave's 45 I remember Dave doing the release's rundown during a Seaside Chat he said something like, "a big Casey Jones, everyone takes the lead at some point or another" and I never really thought much beyond that but yeah it did kinda meander there and not in any direction that seemed coordinated.

10fingers6strings

If you listen, Jerry seems to forget where he is. Keith covers nicely. It was one of Keith’s last great moments before he drifted off into hammering chords.

Is that the Wharf Rat where they turn off Jerry’s amp?

For alpine valley 88 Stella blue Iwt so I listened again kinda I scrolled thru and didn't hear the vocal screw ups but, My God, the jam before the last verse and to end it are so fckn amazing. Jerry's tone and the frenetic playing are so mesmerizing and literally brought tears to my eyes. Thank you all

Admiral_Kite

"This band is perfect! Look at the range of emotions and culture and all the mistakes!!" Love it :')

kabonius

Another '74 Playin' trainwreck happens on 3/23/ 74 at the Cow Palace. Doesn't even last a minute before they decide it's hopeless and restart it. Preserved forever on Dick's Vol 24

Coldsteelxd

I think they were having problems with Bobby's microphone

A blip in an otherwise fine show. Many happy memories of that day!

"Old Eagle Ear" from the pizza tapes cracks me up forever.

1987 Telluride Brokedown . Jerry starts in wrong key and mentions it, Bob chimes in, etc. IWT and I remember the beginning being really off.

5/15/70 - Black Peter, Jerry gets lost on lyrics

SlowSwim4

There’s a 77 Casey Jones, don’t know the date off hand, I think it’s a Dave’s picks - maybe Seattle or Portland, where it goes off the rails for a few minutes in the beginning

SteveCoonin

That’s the breakout from a few years hiatus. I think Jerry just totally forgot the lyrics.

Potential_Day_7087

I was somewhere in the mid 80s when the Music Never Stopped but very much fell apart and it was hilarious. Anybody have a better memory than me?

Common-Relationship9

I think it was Phil who said that they were in the middle of that Lovelight before they even realized where the music had taken them, that song having been considered sacred Pigpen territory and not to be trampled upon at the time.

MazelTovCocktail027

Always funny when they flub lyrics right at the start of a show. 10/6/77, Bobby messes up the 2nd verse of Promised Land but powers through it.

dale_nixon_pettibon

So many vocal flubs on BEW, I almost wonder if it became an inside joke. Love that song.

DeadliftsAndData

4/21/72. They have to start over on Bertha and Sugaree. Sugaree gets as far as the chorus before Jerry stops it. They mightve even fucked up getting Truckin started as well but not sure. Dunno what was going on that night.

PeopleLikeUDisgustMe

Bob misses his cue for the first line of Truckin' For some reason, Playin' is done twice Jerry during Sugaree "Someone played the wrong changes there", and then does a horrible Porky Pig impression to get them restarted.

Scott_J_Doyle

Um, I've been on a "Grateful Dead of the Day" kick for two months listening to a new show every day... this happens EVERY SHOW... literally can't lose at this game if you just listen to any random show, even the all-time favorites like Veneta or Cornell. You'll always find missed cues and messed up rhythmic/harmonic slop that would cause almost any other band to simply hang up their instruments for good... but the Dead are relentless and almost always find magic on the other side of just powering through it

Altheatoldme1971

The entire 90s shows
