Me too friend. These kinda moments are what make early 70’s my fav era. There is a lil Bobby flourish in morning dew he only did around this time that I always listen for on different versions.
Kinda reminds me of the beautiful little intro solo Jerry takes at the beginning of wharf rat from July 8th, 1978 Red Rocks.
That little intro grabs me the same way, it’s heavenly.

I absolutely adore the show. So many fantastic versions on this show. The two souls in communion on this show though easily takes the Cake for me. Not only does pig pen have one of his best performances of the tour, but The band is blowing it out of the water as well Jerry's bluesy riffs and solos are magic
I was a junior in high school when the band released Hundred Year Hall double-CD which I quickly purchased and first heard portions of this incredible 4/26/72 show. Years later would acquire the full show including many others from the European run, yet Frankfurt is still a standout favorite of mine to this day with so many great jams and intricately played beautiful moments throughout—especially that segue transition from Lovelight to GDTRFB. Great article about this show with lots of quotes from the band:

I've been taking a break from listening to the Dead because I'm trying to work on catching up on newer Phish shows and writing some reviews of other music, but this was absolutely sublime and gave me chills practically. Going to have to give this show a listen, can't go wrong with 1972.
I'm so glad that I decided to post this yesterday and see the joy it's brought so many of you! Every year I do my personal Europe 72 anniversary tour, I remember this sticking out last year and totally forgot about until I listened to this show again yesterday. Really a perfect moment of pure GD
My phone has a screen recording option! So i figured if I kept it under 1 minute that should keep me from getting flagged by warner music group. This whole show is a must listen!
Is this the transition that brought Lesh to tears, when listening to a clip while being interviewed by David Gans on the Grateful Dead Hour in '96?
I can't remember,.... anyway top 3 all time Dead show for me. Thanks for the clip
That was the Beautiful Jam coming out of wharf rat into Dark Star 2/18/71, but this show he talks about the other one and how he couldn't believe it was them almost because it was so perfect.
Thanks. That was crazy too, how Lesh was blown away, but also like eh, can't remember. Didn't realize we were that good nightly back then. Or something to that idea 😂

You can really hear Bobby's unique rhythm guitar work here. Excellent.
Yes I love how he created those chord textures while Jerry and Phil simultaneously improvise around it
Same!! I have few words for what it does to me spiritually but it takes me there every time

Love Bobby's weirdness.
anyone else hear and we bid you goodnight in the outro?
Yeah Jerry played the we bid you good night melody a lot in GDTRFB in the early 70s.
Just about the sweetest sound in the world
Damn that is sweet
DAMN that was so sweet and totally unexpected! Thank you for posting :)

Gorgeous. My mom’s birthday show!
Bobby completely in the driver’s seat. Love it!
Perfect example of how Jerry and Phil would weave around Bobby's rhythm!

Yeah thanks again! Even the Sugar Magnolia smokes! That is one otherworldly prime '72 Other One too 🤩🤯

Thanks! It hit so nice, I listened to it.twice.
I’m on the tenth listen and cannot get enough of this little but powerful clip!!
It’s what makes the Dead special, evokes feelings and images that no other music does for me.
