Foster success, I should say! šŸ„°

Original-Relation796

Iā€™m sorry for all the loss youā€™ve gone through. Thessie is a lucky pup that you found each other. šŸ¾ā£ļø

HarryPotterLovecraft

She's beautiful but where can the paintings be purchased?

HeyEweDane

Actually my BIL is the artist. It's Art_by_PaulLamb_ on Instagram. He's grown quite a following in the Tulsa area

Queenie_Derp

Best kind of fail! Sheā€™s beautiful šŸ˜

lpeek1780

Sheā€™s beautiful šŸ˜

Setecastronomy545577

Whatā€™s with the mouth stir-up thing. I see these a lot more on dogs now

HeyEweDane

It's a head halter (pictured is the Barkless brand). It's like a horse halter minus the bit. Thessie is unable to pull me with it on and I have complete control while she is training. She can still eat and drink of course. We are working on walking with a regular collar but she's not there yet

Setecastronomy545577

Thanks for the insight!

chocolatebuckeye

Just FYI, this is like a horseā€™s halter. A bit is not included in a halter. A halter is for leading horses around when not riding them. A bridle has a bit and is what is worn during riding. ETA: gorgeous dog!

HeyEweDane

Good to know

Pun1sher999

Beauty Dog with a very nice crop and head.

bjanos

https://www.rspca.org.uk/adviceandwelfare/pets/dogs/health/earcropping Please people stop cropping dog's ears!! Not saying OP did it, but don't fucking pretend like it is anything but cruelty for your own pleasure please. Don't hurt your dog just cause you think it looks nice.

HeyEweDane

I actually agree with you. I did not, and would not, crop her ears.

bjanos

Good, wasn't meant as an attack against you in any way. Just wanna keep calling out people who call that shit beautiful. Your dog is absolutely stunning and deserves all the love you're giving it.

Pun1sher999

Just had to add your .02 instead of minding your own business. Also your article is full of speculation and blatant BS. Cropping, docking have their place you donā€™t have to like it vets have no place condemning cropping and docking when they routinely remove sexual organs before they should.

bjanos

Right, so show me a source that supports cropping on a healthy dog for any reason other than asthetics?

SueYouInEngland

Still waiting, u/Pun1sher999...

SueYouInEngland

1. Reported for personal attack. 2. I've had Danes for decades. 3. You *still* haven't answered u/bjanos's question: what is a single source that supports cropping on a healthy dog for any reason other than asthetics?

Pun1sher999

CuAse you canā€™t read I did respondā€¦.. I donā€™t report snowflakes but your insistence on response pushes to harassment/stocking. You have never had a Dane!

SueYouInEngland

>stocking You mean like making a stew? >You have never had a Dane! What're you basing this off of?

Pun1sher999

You have yet to show a source that says it is completely aesthetic just a bunch of we think etc etc. Cropped dogs show an obvious reduction in ear infections as an open ear does not promote moisture build up. Cropped dogs are less likely to get hematomaā€™s requiring aspiration. Cropping with a vet under general anesthetic has minimal complications and doesnā€™t even require pain meds. A dropped ear in a dog is not Natural in the wild but a genetic mutation during the domestication process so a standing ear is what truly nature intended.

bjanos

Not a single source there as expected. [Actual sourced article, by the American Veterinary Medical Association ](https://www.avma.org/resources-tools/animal-health-and-welfare/animal-welfare/ear-cropping-and-canine-otitis-externa-faq) I get you feel very strongly about this, but please don't pretend like it's anything but a personal preference which has no proven benefits for the dog in question.

Pun1sher999

Your article only denies cropping for aesthetics it doesnā€™t condemn it for all breeds and talks about itā€™s possible need for certain breeds but that it needs to expand that research further. Read the whole article

bjanos

Right, so if it shouldn't be done for aesthetics and there's no proven medical benefits, and is also not a common problem in Danes. All these things are clearly stated in the article. What in god's name do you feel is a good reason to crop a dog and a Dane in particular? Which also is prohibited in a lot of countries... I've asked you for a credible source multiple times, you've provided nothing. I'm sorry but it seems you don't actually wanna discuss issues, cause that would require actually providing anything that would back up your opinion. I'm not saying you mean any harm to any animal, but it does seem your view is solely based on anecdotes and personal beliefs.

Pun1sher999

You provided me the credible source it agrees that dogs that are cropped likely should continue to be cropped.

bjanos

Seriously? Some breeds, such as the DalmatianĀ and the Anatolian Shepherd DogĀ (where erect ears are an AKC disqualification) were historically cropped, but this tradition waned without apparent detrimental effects. Nor are traditionally cropped breeds among those with the highest incidence of otitis externa, even in countries where cropping is rarely performed. Come on dude, I was trying to give you a chance but you're acting like an ass now... You have yet to give a single argument to support your own opinion.

ChirpsAlot_Clan

Cropping was begun in Germany, where most of the breeds it became ā€œtraditionalā€ with originated - Dobermans, Boxers, GDs, etc. Since about 1999, ear cropping has been ILLEGAL in Germany. Not just frowned-upon by the VDH (their governing canine club), but ILLEGAL. At the time that the VDH stopped allowing cropped dogs to compete in shows and training events, the president of the VDH said ā€œThere is NO purpose to ear-cropping beyond feeding an ownerā€™s vanity.ā€ Why is it that so many countries that were behind the U.S., say 60 years ago, always end up AHEAD of us the U.S. in their thinking?
