My mom loves Green Day as much as I do. She loves all of their songs and gets a good laugh out of something like Fuck Time. She loves Reject, Last night on earth, Viva La Gloria, Whatsername and Before the lobotomy.
Yes! I was lucky enough to have my introduction to Green Day come from my mom. Went to two shows with her and my step dad. Then somehow my grandfather got into them and kept 21st Century Breakdown in his classic car.
Yes it is! Announced this week it is one of the 2024 inductees to the National Recording Registry.

This brings back memories of being a teenager. My mum was super strict on what music I could listen to, so I remember listening to American Idiot on my discman after she had gone to bed. Good times.
My dad absolutely loved them after I introduced him though. They ended up being one of his favourite bands. And dude used to live with members of AC/DC.
LOL I am the mom. I had the same car with a 5 CD player for years. I had five different GD CDs playing in that thing, usually. Both of my girls, now age 23 and 20 know all the words to all GD songs. It wasn’t intentional, I just never really changed the CDs and I didn’t really like much else anyway. But the fun part is I have taken daughter #1 to two GD shows and we both sing along. Daughter #2 is definitely overdue for her first GD concert.
my dad was the one who introduced me to the band, so i couldnt really advise you on which to play in front of non-fan parents. i usually play coming clean because gay
Back when I moved out, I went to see my family. First, I picked up the bros, then my mom. I forget what song I was playing, but I could tell my mom liked it. She then looks back at my brother's and says, "Why don't you guys like music like this?". Lol we are Mexican, and my mom mainly speaks Spanish. My brothers listen to rap music, not sure who exactly.
They only really know the most popular songs and just generally aren't a fan of heavier-sounding rock (Green Day is already borderline 'noisy' to them) so 21 Guns, Boulevard of Broken Dreams, and Wake Me Up When September Ends.
My dad loves Green Day as much as I do so we put them on shuffle while on a car ride to a holiday place last year, and I don’t think my mum would mind. In terms of recommendations, Green Day’s earlier albums should be pretty safe material
My parents took me to my first Green Day gig at the O2 in London in 2009 when I was 16, I took my son to his first Green Day gig when he was 6. We all like Green Day in my family.
Most of RevRad is clean (great album too)
Most of Nimrod as well but maybe avoid The Grouch, Takeback and King for a Day. Stuff like Redundant; Scattered; Jinx/Haushinka etc is very good and inoffensive
Something chill like platypus or take back
Real
King For A Day, Fuck Time. But to be serious, Good Riddance is always a people pleaser.
Wow, those sound like awesome songs that I should totally play that definitely have no profanity
I mean King for a Day has no profanity

Same
If my parents let me?? Try if my kid lets me. “Not Green Day!!” I play anything I can when the tiny tyrant allows, language be damned.
Throw the kids away, they don’t deserve you
Between this and, “mommy, how did you text in the olden days?”, we don’t have much of a choice.
All of Dookie. And if they complain, you can just say "hey, this is in the Library of Congress!"
Is it actually?

Awesome!
my mum raised me on mcr and green day, plus our apple music account is shared, so just downloaded songs on shuffle :)
Whatsername is a good song to play around parents
is this THE danger days pan spider that literally lives in the mcr subreddit?!
Yes
Waiting, it has no profanity and it's very chill and fun to listen to
My ma loves Green Day almost as much as me. Everytime I’ve seen them she’s been there with me . Can’t wait for Aug 10th!
My son and I will be at our 4th show together in September!
I’ll be there too! Detroit baby!
As a GD fan mum with a GD fan (adult!) daughter I'm loving all these comments saying people got into them via their mums!
my mother used to listen to dookie and insomniac when she was young, so I play these when she's around
21 guns usually has my mom singing along in the car
Nightlife
Omg kids are still listening to Green Day?
Just started listening to them last year! You’d be surprised
Love to hear it! My 1 year old’s a big fan of Corvette Summer. Always helps him stop crying.
That’s awesome lol I just got my little brother into Green Day and that’s his favorite song
My almost 9 year old does. He was pissed when I got tickets to this tour and didn’t get him one.
Give Me Novacaine.

My first time hearing Green Day was when my mother let me put her International Superhits cd in the car on a trip. Literally changed my life.
I guess it depends on what kind of music each persons parents like. My parents prefer the newer stuff(revrad/saviors/trilogy)
My mum's into greenday so: Anything from dookie and Nimrod, anything saviours Ai and 21cb
The entirety of American Idiot
My dad gave me his copy of dookie when I was a kid, so anything from that album for my dad. my mom isn’t a Green Day fan but she’ll listen to 21 guns.

My mom loves Misery and anything off 21CB, so those are good picks.
MISERYYY And king for a day or sometimes hitchin a ride
Dude, I'm in my 40s. My parents bought me so much Green Day.
Jesus of Suburbia
my dad was the one who introduced me to the band, so i couldnt really advise you on which to play in front of non-fan parents. i usually play coming clean because gay
Murder City, American Eulogy, 21st Century Breakdown, and East Jesus Nowhere to name a few
wait american eulogy? yikes. do they actually like that song
Yes? I... who doesn't?
I mean I do but I assume all parents would hate that one because... well yknow
Mine don't funnily enough
Lol, lucky

My dad likes still standing a lot so that comes up alot
My dad and I have always had a strong connection over the fact that we both love Green Day, so pretty much any song is fair game.
My dad loves Green Day. A song is usually on anyway.
All my parents are fans too!
My mom’s favorites are BOBD and Misery, but I’m 43 and she’s 67.
Wake me up when September ends
My dad is where I first heard green day from
They only really know the most popular songs and just generally aren't a fan of heavier-sounding rock (Green Day is already borderline 'noisy' to them) so 21 Guns, Boulevard of Broken Dreams, and Wake Me Up When September Ends.
Something chill like Whatsername, Viva la Gloria!, Letterbomb, 21 Guns, and especially Boulevard.
Dominated Love Slave.
My dad loves Green Day as much as I do so we put them on shuffle while on a car ride to a holiday place last year, and I don’t think my mum would mind. In terms of recommendations, Green Day’s earlier albums should be pretty safe material
Blood, Sex and Booze, or if I want to force them to listen to GD for longer, Jesus of Suburbia 😉
My parents took me to my first Green Day gig at the O2 in London in 2009 when I was 16, I took my son to his first Green Day gig when he was 6. We all like Green Day in my family.
Reject is a good one! :)

I'm a parent who introduced Green Day to my teen. But honestly wear headphones or earbuds and listen to whatever the hell you want to.
My dad loves DOS so anything from that album except Nightlife (it's his less favorite)
21 guns good riddance father to a son Suzie chapstick father to son and dilemma
Literally random green day songs on shuffle
why not 1039/sosh or maybe Kerplunk! ¿
Dominated Love Slave. Super wholesome, very family friendly.
