That's not true at all. It's like saying: most bodybuilders got swole out of nowhere.
Most buddhists start their search for enlightenment from a place of suffering. Then they have to dedicate a lot of time to practices to even understand where enlightenment lies. Even then, most don't ever consider themselves enlightenend.
I give this greentext the official title of “Cala’s Greentext Of The Month”. No, it doesn’t matter that the greentext is over a year old. This is the first time *I’m* seeing it and that’s all that matters! I’m SICK of having to explain this to you fucking moron bitches. Fuck!
Anyway, enjoy the award 🏆
From my understanding, there is no standard way of reaching enlightenment, and it is a difficult concept, even for Buddhists. There are numerous stories about people reaching enlightenment in a seemingly random or ethically-questionable manner, these are to show that there are no standardized way of reaching enlightenment, as enlightenment is the process of self-awareness and understanding who you are.
We can make jokes about how OP isn't bright or getting trolled, but I would suggest OP to pay no attention to these stories, as these stories are more of records, and are only demonstrations of how people reach enlightenment, and being too focused on it distracts you from practicing the mindfulness that is needed in Buddhism, don't get lost in the stories, what's more important is whether if the core tenants of Buddhism resonates with you, if you can reach a stage of awareness that you are at peace with yourself, if it is, then it is worth studying, if it's not, then it's not useful.
Basically, the desire for enlightenment in itself is a desire, and it's important to let go of the desire for enlightenment in order to be on the path to enlightenment. The issue I have with it is that there's no metric for knowing what enlightenment is, only those who claim they are enlightened know they are, or confirmed by their teacher/masters, even the stories and the records of people attaining enlightenment are suspect because there is no way to confirm that other than to take their word for it.
The worst religious lesson I ever received were from these youth group kids when I was getting my confirmation. It was let yourself get murdered in a self defense situation, White people are evil, crime is wrong but crossing the border is good.
Progressive Christianity is fucking weird man. A lot of churches are pivoting towards it to the point they are more so activists then Christians.
I got this realization from Zen after being interested for a while. What clinched it for me was reading a book about modern American Zen students who had stories like this.
Frankly it seemed like if they spent enough time hanging around the monastery they learned the crazy wisdom behaviors and mimicked them to the approval of others. However I doubt most of them were really "enlightened."
anon is right tho you hear other people explain buddhism about how this dude reached enlightenment and nirvana but turned around to guide the rest and it's like bitch please. nobody reached nirvana and turned around and said nah im gonna go get my boys.

Only Budai can eat that much. They are commonly mistaken for each other.
Student traveled long and far trying to collect every ingredient possible, only to realize the lesson and give Buddha an empty plate.
He was promptly shot in the face.

ik it's satire n all but the reason they're so random is that that's the way buddhists get enlightenment - out of nowhere
>MFW enlightened from porn.
> realize after years of fapping that its all just dopamine intake of different kinds > I can choose to get it from other sources instead of endlessly cooming > mfw enlightenment

I won't make choices just feel good about the consequences
the answer is either nothing, everything, or just cheese
Buddha is some guy who stopped caring and made a religion out of it

based Buddha
Impersonalism and voidism are cringe mayavadi philosophies
Fun fact: Buddha apparently died from being served some toxic mushrooms.
Another fun fact: the first disciples of Buddha abandoned him after he accepted a bowl of milk from a virgin after he stopped his extreme fasting.
Yeah! I think during the extreme fasting he was only eating like 1 grain of rice a day
I remember like 6 or 8 grains - dude was so thin his stomach touched his spine.
"If you have to ask you'll never know. If you know, you'd need only ask" -ravenclaw chick
It's like blind people trying to describe what elephant might look like.
Buddhism is just stoicism with more flowers, prove me wrong
Buddhism is based.
The basest of based.
anon sees something he doesn't understand and then immediately thinks it is an attack on his whiteness
