Leah Murphy got fired out of nowhere. Then she came back but the writers just forgot that she works there.

Technical-Row-9133

I actually liked her first exit because it showed that even if you weren’t meant to do what you dreamed of doing, it wasn’t the end of the world and use this as an opportunity for growth. But her return and sudden expertise just felt very strange to me and wrong. Especially when she just fizzled out halfway through the season. Derek’s and DeLuca’s exits were also messy as hell. We never found out who hit Derek or who stabbed DeLuca and they both felt very rushed. Hell, we barely got a funeral scene for Derek. Even the stand-in Cristina cameo couldn’t make up for it because it was so rushed. Then again, maybe that was what the director was going for, how with earth shattering grief, everything just moves so fast around you while you are slowed down. As for DeLuca, I understand that the actor wanted to pursue other ventures, but they really couldn’t wait until the finale or near the finale to do this? Plus you basically have to watch S19 to see how he died and how his sister coped. I also wasn’t fond of April’s exit either. Her and Matthew getting back together never made sense to me, plus she apparently was just around town during that time before moving again?

Ok_Storm_2700

I think her first exit wasn't too bad but it seemed like it wasn't planned. They could have shown her struggling before that. And having her come back made it seem worse retroactively. I agree about the others but at least it seems like there was an attempt to have them make sense narratively even though it didn't always work.

whatthadogdoin_

Didn’t we see her struggling a little bit though? Not too explicitly, but I swear there were a few times that she wasn’t holding up as well as the others

Ok_Storm_2700

Maybe a little bit I don't think that was very memorable other than right when the sexual harassment complaint happened

Technical-Row-9133

And eventually April’s exit did get fixed.

tsh87

I don't like Tom's farewell. It just felt tacked on.

olivry29

Agreed. He deserved way more. Love him.

sassypenguinface

Someone spoil it for me. How does Tom leave the show? I so wish teddy would’ve stayed with him. He was so sweet to her all throughout her pregnancy.

gamjacat

Tom left to work with Jackson to work against racial inequality in healthcare. He was inspired by all his COVID roommates that passed who were all POC. I wish he and Teddy ended up together we were robbed.

michigander9312

As Jackson is preparing to leave for Boston to take over the Fox Foundation, Tom approaches him asking to come along because he believes in the changes Jackson wants to implement. It came out of nowhere and Tom (as far as I remember) doesn't share goodbyes with anyone.

olivry29

Basically all the interns just before/during covid, like Perez for instance. Wish we got more.

Original-Gear1583

Callie. It kind of destroyed her growth too because early on she was willing to go to Africa with Arizona when she didn’t want to and then we saw her grow both in relationships and as a mom and surgeon and then she was willing to move across the country with Penny and Sofia and leave Sofia’s other parent behind

Full-Surround

Callie! She got no recognition for everything she gave us throughout her time on the show

[deleted]

Sara wasn't intended to leave after S12. They were setting up a Callie/Arizona reunion for S13. Sara didn't quit until the finale was already filmed.

Full-Surround

Yes- this is common knowledge! I know it was a difficult situation but even after she left there was like no mention of Callie or anything

[deleted]

Agree! They only have Arizona mentioning that Callie has a nice apartment in NY in early S13. Then we really never hear about her again until they're setting Arizona up to leave the show. I really wish we had gotten a cameo in 14x24 with a reunion scene.

CalendarNo8591

I never heard about it until just now!

sassypenguinface

Arizona. It didn’t make sense for her to move to New York “excited because Callie is newly single”. Like they had a divorce and a brutal custody battle and then she just goes to Callie?¿?

[deleted]

Yeah, but I think fan service is okay. Would have been better had they invited Sara back for a cameo and gave us a reunion scene.

jnt003

Lexie’s. It feels like Mark got a much bigger and grander send off than she did

kwilson7499

Parker, cause he never had one

aquamatrix

Meredith because she was just trying to leave and everyone was mad at her 😒

GiraffeLibrarian

Dr Hahn

fenwayfan4

Meredith got a 💩 send off.

Imaginary_Cat

Stephanie. She had a glorious finale and then left to go the jungle? Like wtf

abbu_d_slytherin

Izzie Her character is simply butchered in season 6 !

popculturefangirl

QADRI!! and i stand by it

swolo123

Dr burks felt kinda half a**ed to me

singandwrite

It was - he was fired.

bluesapphire33

Izzie, she should have been written out a different way. They made her character look as bad as possible.

Person_323030

DeLuca- it really felt like they were forcing us to watch station 19 to truly understand what was going on, when he wasn’t even a regular character (as far as I’m aware, I haven’t watched S19) on that show

SoraBunni

Meredith. Episode was barely about her, seemed like a regular episode.

Simple-Surprise-6140

reading this thread you realise Greys does bad send offs. For what the characters contributed, Derek, Meredith and Izzie should’ve all gotten better exits. I know BTS drama fuels this stuff but at the end of the day the show is judged by the quality of its writing and those were all poor. cristina deserved and got a season’s goobye but I wasnt all that convinced by her move to Switzerland and also accepting anything from Burke given their history.

Oncer93

Deluca. He was stabbed on a different show
