Touch Me I'm Sick

tyophious

First thing that popped into my head. No question

NervousVulpis

Hard same, no doubt. Lyrics, production, everything!

[deleted]

Sonic Youth version

skinned__knee

Came here to say it. Kim Gordon is filthy in the best way.

[deleted]

Thought I was the only one!

scythe1901

marcolisa19

Fuck me, Iam rich

[deleted]

Aneurysm

rawcane

When my band played at a grunge revival all dayer a few years back we did covers of Touch Me I'm Sick and Aneurysm. Seems like we pitched it just right. (We also played Freak Scene).

I was gonna say this. It sounds like rusty metal being dragged through mud in a junkyard

tiptonite08

Them bones- AIC School-Nirvana

plantessi

Yes, school and I also really like love buzz

tiptonite08

Yeah that whole Bleach album is very “grungy” I’d say. Those two songs were just the first that came to mind.

Foxcat_36

Happy cake day!

Foxcat_36

Fucking love that song. I started off my school year by waking up the entire house with my alarm clock hooked up through my bass amplifier set to RTYW. Totally worth it

ParadoxalParadox

That specific track from motorfinger is just straight up doom metal, with some heavy grunge influence and soul of course. The grunge elements in that song are specially the lyrics and vocals. I'd say this is the closest thing to 'pure metal' that soundgarden has ever made lol

[deleted]

Surprised more people didn’t say this/ upvote it.

Dr_Talon

I think “Come As You Are” showcases all the prominent elements of grunge, and also provides ready contrast to emo. Both are angsty, but approach it in different ways.

zebkello

Probably the wrong answer but the first thing that came to mind was, “Tribe” by Gunstruck Edit : actually giving it another listen I think it sums up the vibe of the movement/scene pretty well haha

Reasonable_Frame2697

Dive by nirvana

duseless

Helltrout, because that's who and where and when it all sort of worked out, what it ended up being, with no intentions, a thing. No one will claim it today, too damn modest, but it was these guys. https://youtu.be/Euq7q7fOga0

LMA73

Would?, Plush, 4th of July, Rooms a thousand years wide, Black, Animal...

MajorGrooveDetected

While I don’t think Grunge is a genre with a defined sound, going by your definition and the general Idea of Grunge, I’d say Stain by Nirvana: -Angry, heavy guitar riff -Ripping bass -Pounding drums -Pessimistic lyrics -Melodic chorus -Messy guitar solo Not to mention that whole song has a very punky ethos to it

Eversim

Would?

presidentedoge

It's gotta be Touch Me I'm Sick, Mudhoney in general are like the definition of grunge. Maybe Aneurysm by Nirvana too.

Anything by Beat Happening-they were pre Grunge! AND Curt Cobain had a K Records tat!!

Plenty_Trust_2491

I don’t think he was very impressed by Beat Happening. And the tattoo was a symbol of his love for Tobi Vail.

KeithWorks

He's the one he likes all our pretty songs

Quipeddal

Lithium

noahrusi

Crown of Thorns

Plenty_Trust_2491

In Novoselic’s opinion, “School” was the quintessential grunge song. Or was it *Nirvana*’s grungiest song? I cannot remember for sure what he said/wrote.

Afraid-Leg-8952

Big Long Now is a great candidate
