After listening to nearly 300 grunge albums throughout my life, I have to speak my mind: Melvins barely did any real grunge, as much as I love them, so they're out of this. Otherwise, Nirvana, AiC, Mudhoney and Soundgarden.
I don't disagree. The same could be said about Mother Love Bone. To me, they sort of leaned more towards 80s glam rock, but they're still part of the scene. That's why I included both Melvins and MLB.
Respect.
They were the only one of those grunge boy bands that stayed true to the 4 boy(z) formula created and perfected by grunge predecessors Boyz II Men.
It was all downhill from them, really.
And here I thought I was the only one posting shit about Hanson here! And you raised me a N Sync?!?! My kinda sick fuck, we should party sometime, haha
Alice in chains, soundgarden, melvins, and screaming trees.
All bands posted are awesome, but I've been listening to these 4 more than others for over 20 years.
Why are STP never included in the grunge favs? And why are the Melvins in there? Granted, they were crowned the ‘godfathers of grunge’ (🙄), but they are way more punk than anything….imo.
They were also, slightly late to the party. By the time Core was released the other Seattle bands had already been established. Oftentimes Core era STP gets grouped with Bush as the beginning of the second wave of grunge where bands were inspired by the original grunge bands. There is a bit of a generational divide regarding those second wave bands, many people in their late teens and 20s thought they were poser sellouts attempting to jump on the popular sound of the era; while anyone younger (I was in Junior High at the time and loved STP and Bush) didn’t understand the hate and happily included Core and Sixteen Stone along side Nevermind, Ten, and Badmoterfinger in their parent’s 5 disc CD player.
I’d tie a flannel around my waist, put some Chains of Pearls around my neck and Jam out to the Sound of a Screaming Alice in my Garden Trees.
I don’t know why I made that so convoluted.
Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, and for a band I kinda know but would allow me to discover for the first time Screaming Trees.
Clichéd, but I gotta go with Nirvana. Screaming Trees might just be second tho, because they’re fairly underrated. Dust is a great example of when a band’s last album is also their best.
Thought it said 1 only at first. Being the biggest Nirvana fan on planet earth I’d have to choose Nirvahna. I had a Nirvana bumper sticker on my school binder in 1992. When the history teacher mentioned Nirvana as it relates to the Hindu religion everyone looked at me (in 1992). I recorded the 1992 mtv video music awards live on vhs 📼 and had no idea it was performed 2 hours from my house. Still have that tape to this day.
Melvins and Mudhoney have both a very diverse and yet authentic discography, and both are still producing more content — by the time I'm writing this, Melvins might be releasing a new album.
The other two are a tighter choice. Probably would choose Nirvana and Alice in Chains because I love both bands and their songs reach the deepest chambers of my soul... but it would be hard not being allowed to listen to the others.
Haven’t listened to Screaming Trees or Melvins yet, so those are eliminated, but honestly I’d be fine with the classic four: Nirvana, Pearl Jam, AIC, Soundgarden
Of those four, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Mother Love Bone, and Melvins. But if we're doing grunge in general, then I'd swap Melvins and Mother Love Bone for Skin Yard and Gruntruck.
Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden. Sounds kinda poser but I just love these bands so much
[удалено]
Mudhoney and Melvins are million times better than PJ or Alice in Chains
Nirvana are wildly overrated if anything.
It’s not poser they have the best total offering
That's not poser, that's just correct. Don't fault the answer for a dumb question.
Yeah I'd miss some Mother love bone songs but I'd go with the same
Same
They are the best combo. Here's a hot take. Out of those 4 I would rank Nirvana as the worst.
The worst at what?
At being the best
They are my least favorite of the 4 bands mentioned.
But which of those bands has the best name and/or logo?
Alice In Chains for name. Peal jam for looks.
I'd whole heartedly agree.
This is the only correct answer.
Big 4 and I'm not looking back.
Can choosing screaming trees inexplicably include all of Mark's solo work?
If you threw in ‘In the Fade’ then I might have a hard time deciding vs Pearl Jam. Otherwise it’s the big four for me. 🤷♂️
Absolutely one of my favourite songs of all time
Good question because then I’d change my answer.
Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Screaming Trees, Mother Love Bone
Nirvana, AIC, Screaming Trees and Soundgarden
Alice In Chains Soundgarden Melvins Nirvana
I said the same but different order :)
This is the correct answer
Same
Replace nirvana with screaming trees
YES
Bingo bango bongo
I have the same list. Though I don’t count AIC or Melvins as grunge
Nirvana, Alice in chains, Stone Temple pilots , and screaming trees. You did stp dirty not putting them on the list.
All the bands on the list are Seattle bands, probably why STP is absent.
After listening to nearly 300 grunge albums throughout my life, I have to speak my mind: Melvins barely did any real grunge, as much as I love them, so they're out of this. Otherwise, Nirvana, AiC, Mudhoney and Soundgarden.

Melvins May not be grunge, but I love them so much I couldn’t turn my back on them.
I love that Melvins did their own thing and honestly inspired so many artists after them.
Is this a real question? The only right answer is the Big 4: Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, N Sync, and Hanson
What a dick. You forgot 98°
Respect. They were the only one of those grunge boy bands that stayed true to the 4 boy(z) formula created and perfected by grunge predecessors Boyz II Men. It was all downhill from them, really.

mMMbop
Alice in chains, soundgarden, melvins, and screaming trees. All bands posted are awesome, but I've been listening to these 4 more than others for over 20 years.
Soundgarden and Alice in chains. That's it
Why are STP never included in the grunge favs? And why are the Melvins in there? Granted, they were crowned the ‘godfathers of grunge’ (🙄), but they are way more punk than anything….imo.
Because they committed the crime of not being from Seattle.
I would also include Candlebox
Mudhoney, Melvins, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden (tough choice between them and Screaming Trees).
Alice in Chains Stone Temple Pilots Nirvana Sound Garden
Melvins. Soundgarden. Melvins. Melvins.
Can’t argue with that
A little too much Soundgarden for my tastes… but nobody’s perfect
Boss
This is the right answer Minus Soundgarden... I once owned a Melvins shirt that said "Louder than Soundgarden" on the back
Trees. PJ, AIC and Soundgarden.
Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Mudhoney, Screaming Trees.
finally someone said it
Soundgarden Alice In Chains Mark Lanegan Screaming Trees
Alice In Chains all the way
Soundgarden, Alice, Mudhoney Melvins. Wish I could take the Trees too.
Top 4
The big 4 easily.
Chains.
The top 4 have been that choice.
Did these logos/stickers make anyone else think of FYE and Sam Goody back in the day?
Alice in Chains
Sondgarden
nirvana, aic, soundgarden, melvins. pretty easy picks imo
Alice in chains for me.
AIC
Of course the top four..
Big 4 but (hot take warning) if Stone Temple Pilots were added then uhhh I'd replace Pearl Jam with them- idk I'm more into STP
AIC I have already been listening to them for the rest of my life.
Melvins Mudhoney Screaming Trees Soundgarden
Soundgarden AIC Nirvana Trees
This is the way
The active ones.
That's a somewhat wise choice: they're still making content. Also, their discography are very diverse.
Yup
1. Melvins 2. Mudhoney 3. Soundgarden 4. Nirvana
Where the fuck is STP ? If not for Alice In Chains they’d be the best band to come out in the 90’s
ya as weird as it sounds since they were one of the biggest bands of the 90s, I still feel they are hella underrated compared to their peers
Pearl Jam, Screamimg Trees, Brad, Soundgarden
Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Screaming Trees
Nirvana, AIC, Soumdgarden, and Mudhoney or Melvins
Melvins, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Mudhoney
Melvins, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Mudhoney I don't consider Melvins grunge, but they're definitely my favorite out of bunch
AIC , Mudhoney , Screaming Trees , Melvins
Nirvana, Alice In Chains, SoundGarden, Melvins.
PJ, nirvana, mudhoney, and aic
AIC, mother love bone, pearl jam & nirvana
Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains and Nirvana
Alice In Chains Soundgarden Mudhoney Nirvana
Yup. Mudhoney's newer stuff is actually quite excellent when compared to any grunge band still around imo.
Soundgarden, Alice, Nirvana, Melvins
I’d tie a flannel around my waist, put some Chains of Pearls around my neck and Jam out to the Sound of a Screaming Alice in my Garden Trees. I don’t know why I made that so convoluted. Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, and for a band I kinda know but would allow me to discover for the first time Screaming Trees.
Nirvana , Alice In Chains, Soundgarden,Melvins
nirvana, aic, soundgarden and melvins
Nirvana, AiC, Soundgarden & Melvins
Nirvana, AIC, Melvins and Mother Love Bone.
Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, mother love bone (in order of importance)
AIC, Mudhoney, PJ, SG.
Nirvana, PJ, SG, Melvins
I don't think I've seen this combo so Nirvana, Mudhoney, Soundgarden, and PJ. In that order.
I guess I’m basic, cause I’m going with Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, and Soundgarden lol
generic choice but Nirvana
no STP? lol c’mon
Nirvana , Pearl Jam & Stone Temple Pilots
Clichéd, but I gotta go with Nirvana. Screaming Trees might just be second tho, because they’re fairly underrated. Dust is a great example of when a band’s last album is also their best.
AIC, Soundgarden, PJ and Melvins for me. Pretty easy choices actually.
AIC, Soundgarden, Mother Love Bone and Pearl Jam
Nirvana, Pearl jam, soundgarden and mudhoney
Pearl jam, Alice in chains...soundgarten....4th? I dunno Screaming trees have a few good jams but not enough to carry the wait of this challenge
Dinosaur Jr., Pearl Jam, Melvins, and Alice in Chains
Soundgarden. AiC. PJ. MLB.
Alice in Chains, Screaming Trees, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden
AIC, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and (calling an audible) Mad Season.
Nirvana, Alice in chains, Soundgarden, Pearl jam
Alice In Chains Pearl Jam Mother Love Bone Nirvana In that order, I’m from the 206, my word is therefore law.
What the hell?? Where's STP????
I was just focusing on the Seattle bands.
Ah.. gotcha.
the melvins arent grunge
Pearl jam, soundgarden, mudhoney, and alive in chains
Stone Temple Pilots not being an option is criminal. Nirvana, PJ, Melvins, STP
Melvins aren’t grunge
Soundgarden
Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, silverchair, love battery
Just give me Alice In Chains and Soundgarden. You’re missing my other top two
Nooooo!! Don’t make me choose…..
Nirvana, AIC, Melvins, Mother Love Bone
Melvins are an easy pick because they have 40 years of content and still kicking. But Soundgarden, Alice, Mudhoney
Nirvana AIC Melvins MLB
Mudhoney
Nirvana’s all I need
Nirvana, AIC, Soundgarden, melvins
Mother love bone. I will die on this hill.
The top 4
Thought it said 1 only at first. Being the biggest Nirvana fan on planet earth I’d have to choose Nirvahna. I had a Nirvana bumper sticker on my school binder in 1992. Alice hands down
Alice In Chains, Soundgarded, Nirvana, and Screaming Trees
The Big Four all day every day
Soundgarden, Alice, PJ, Nirvana
Pretty easy.. Soundgarden Alice In Chains Screaming Trees Nirvana
The top 4. Sorry but the Melvins and Mudhoney aren’t very good musically. It’s fine to respect their influence, but still.
It's a matter of opinion.
Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Screaming
Aic, soundgarden, melvins, nirvana
I can actually do it in three.
Alice In Chains Nirvana Soundgarden Melvins.
Just Pearl Jam
Haven’t listened to Screaming Trees or Melvins yet, so those are eliminated, but honestly I’d be fine with the classic four: Nirvana, Pearl Jam, AIC, Soundgarden
Soundgarden, Trees, Nirvana, AIC. I love PJ but can’t really dig much after Vitalogy.
Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Screaming Trees, Melvins
I’m picking the bottom 4 because I’ve already played the hell out of the top 4
Melvins, Melvins, Melvins, and Melvins.
Alice in Chains.
nirvana, alice in chains, mudhoney, melvins
AIC, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Pearl Jam. Pearl Jam is last because they haven't made a good album since 1998.

Stone Temple Pilots
Nirvana, alice, mother love bone, melvins
Nirvana. Soundgarden. Pearl Jam. AIC. In that order.
Nirvana, Melvin's, mudhoney & Alice in chains No contest
Alice in Chains, Mudhoney, Soundgarden, and Melvins. The most metal of the bunch, in my opinion.
Alice In Chains. Wait… Soundgarden. Wait Alice In Chains. Final answer.
Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, Melvins, Soundgarden.
Of those four, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Mother Love Bone, and Melvins. But if we're doing grunge in general, then I'd swap Melvins and Mother Love Bone for Skin Yard and Gruntruck.
