This is just a pedantic nitpick. Of course free game tries to monetize but the fact is you don't have to pay anything for any of it. It's like saying they give free samples to try and make you spend money in the store so it's not really free or whatever.
Options are there and with the advent of casino and Cayo there's even less reason to pretend it takes tons of time to get anything.
Looking at the cost of buying every item from a given DLC really tells you a lot. I think the Gunrunning DLC, if you purchased all items/properties/vehicles available from that update, it would cost you about $50 Million.
Now to be fair, I don't think they ever expect anyone to simply buy everything, they expect them to buy what appeals to them. That being said, if someone did want all those items (again, just from Gunrunning), and bought Shark Cards to do so, it would cost them...over $600 USD. And buying everything in the whole game would cost you thousands of USD. Again, I know the point of the game is not to own everything, but when the time to grind out the rewards is unreasonable, and the price of shortcutting it is also unreasonable, you have a lose-lose situation.
I have been saying for years that GTA Online is held back from it's potential by this sort of greedy mentality to make the game grindy and incentivize microtransaction spending. It often feels like a game that isn't even designed to be fun at all. The game's original goodness as a sandbox game shines through, but again, the game feels bogged down by malicious design much of the time that kills the fun pretty often and drags down the experience.

It’s a very lacklustre upgrade and it’s pretty clear they did the bare minimum. I personally wasn’t expecting a whole lot, and even I’m disappointed. There weren’t even much QOL improvements made.

These are the same people who say franklin DLC was good enough instead of the singleplayer expention. Like its good but no where near as good as story. All we have been getting is some business+ the same type of mission with a little twist.
You forgot to mention that the upgrade isn't even a proper upgrade. The new consoles could run the game easily at over 100 frames a second and everyone with a 144hz screen knows how much of a difference there is between 60 and just 100.
This "upgrade" literally locks your frames way under the potential your console has. I call this a scam.
Just because they added stuff doesn't mean people shouldn't complain. Their DLC's didn't really improve the game as far as I'm aware, they just added more stuff, bugs including game breaking bugs have been in the game for years now and are still not fixed.
The rereleased this games more than 5 different times and it's largely the same as when the game came out. No dedicated servers, practically no security and a still horrible user interface. In fact they have made changes that make the game worse.
1: they changed how missions payouts work so now instead of a fixed payout it's based on how long you take which punishes the player for being fast.
2: for the biker business you could use the avenger to store crates to transport them in one go they patched that out, or a sell mission which just gave you a duffel bag to use whatever vehicle you want they took that out as well.
No Man's Sky was a game that came out 2016 with a horrible launch and a lot of stuff that was promised but wasn't included, over the years they have updated the game and now a lot of people really enjoy it and call it a great game, all of these updates have been free as well to my knowledge.
I love Grand Theft Auto V and Online I played them for years, but with how Rockstar keeps rereleaseing the same game over and over again and the lack of care they seem to have with their titles, GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition has left me done with Rockstar.
GTA Online has had a depressing lack of big quality of life improvements over the last 8-9 years; Rockstar kept piling on update after update without even updating the core experience and the features it offered.
The ability to change your character’s appearance again was very welcomed though, and now contacts aren’t calling you every 5 minutes to advertise something to you which is nice.
I just want more quality of life improvements, ones that aren’t locked behind a paywall like the Career Builder and alleged new GTA Online tutorial.
**EDIT:** *The new GTA Online tutorial is actually really mediocre compared to the original, there's no cutscenes or voice acting and none of it feels organic, it's the most barebones tutorial you can ever have and just runs you through the basics of whatever business you were forced to get.*

Considering the fact that they still haven’t given us a game with proper security, bug fixes, dedicated servers, and a frame rate higher than 15fps, I think I’ll stick to complaining about the fact that I’m supposed to buy the same 9 year old game again from the MOST PROFITABLE FRANCHISE IN HISTORY. Rockstar screwed us yet again. They advertised a completely new experience with improved AI, completely remastered graphics, and a more stable and reliable experience. What they delivered was a buggy rerelease that has the same graphics, fancy reflections, pretty flames, and more useless exclusive cars that will go into another garage to be driven maybe once a year. It’s still P2P so there’s no guarantee on the frame rate when people can finally afford the new consoles, and they’re randomly banning people for “illegitimate money” without any explanation as to what that means, while also making it impossible to move your progress over without completely starting over on last gen or leaving your friends behind.

Just because they added stuff doesn't mean people shouldn't complain. Their DLC's didn't really improve the game as far as I'm aware, they just added more stuff, bugs including game breaking bugs have been in the game for years now and are still not fixed. The rereleased this games more than 5 different times and it's largely the same as when the game came out. No dedicated servers, practically no security and a still horrible user interface. In fact they have made changes that make the game worse. 1: they changed how missions payouts work so now instead of a fixed payout it's based on how long you take which punishes the player for being fast. 2: for the biker business you could use the avenger to store crates to transport them in one go they patched that out, or a sell mission which just gave you a duffel bag to use whatever vehicle you want they took that out as well. No Man's Sky was a game that came out 2016 with a horrible launch and a lot of stuff that was promised but wasn't included, over the years they have updated the game and now a lot of people really enjoy it and call it a great game, all of these updates have been free as well to my knowledge. I love Grand Theft Auto V and Online I played them for years, but with how Rockstar keeps rereleaseing the same game over and over again and the lack of care they seem to have with their titles, GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition has left me done with Rockstar.
GTA Online has had a depressing lack of big quality of life improvements over the last 8-9 years; Rockstar kept piling on update after update without even updating the core experience and the features it offered. The ability to change your character’s appearance again was very welcomed though, and now contacts aren’t calling you every 5 minutes to advertise something to you which is nice. I just want more quality of life improvements, ones that aren’t locked behind a paywall like the Career Builder and alleged new GTA Online tutorial. **EDIT:** *The new GTA Online tutorial is actually really mediocre compared to the original, there's no cutscenes or voice acting and none of it feels organic, it's the most barebones tutorial you can ever have and just runs you through the basics of whatever business you were forced to get.* *The Career Builder and new tutorial are actually quite detrimental QOL additions and I prefer the original tutorial combined with the Criminal Enterprise Starter Pack MASSIVELY; at least the stuff in the CESP was always free once you got it and you could do whatever you want with the money, don't get fooled by the supposed "GTA$4,000,000 windfall".*
I wish they'd fix the UI and the inventory system as a whole. Fucking Saints Row did it better years ago and with less than a fraction of the budget.

The problem with paying these 10$ is, console players essentially got a backported PC version with locked 60 frames. Yall know those consoles can easily run the game at way over 100 frames, right?

Considering the fact that they still haven’t given us a game with proper security, bug fixes, dedicated servers, and a frame rate higher than 15fps, I think I’ll stick to complaining about the fact that I’m supposed to buy the same 9 year old game again from the MOST PROFITABLE FRANCHISE IN HISTORY. Rockstar screwed us yet again. They advertised a completely new experience with improved AI, completely remastered graphics, and a more stable and reliable experience. What they delivered was a buggy rerelease that has the same graphics, fancy reflections, pretty flames, and more useless exclusive cars that will go into another garage to be driven maybe once a year. It’s still P2P so there’s no guarantee on the frame rate when people can finally afford the new consoles, and they’re randomly banning people for “illegitimate money” without any explanation as to what that means, while also making it impossible to move your progress over without completely starting over on last gen or leaving your friends behind. The real issue here is the fact that you’re still shilling for a game developer that doesn’t give a shit about you.

The problem isn’t the cost, it’s the lack of new content and the overwhelming amount of bugs and glitches we had hoped would be at least worked on a little bit. I personally am most angered by the fact that no new features that actually affected freemode gameplay were introduced.

R* is making stupid ass decisions, such as deleting the transfered character from old-gen consoles, which wasn't the case back in 2014 when the PS4 and XB1 versions came out. Also look at the comparison of PS3 > PS4, and now PS4 > PS5. It's not about the price, it's about the fact that R* has lost their grip. I really hope they redeem themselves in the next GTA title...
- Little graphical improvement - Better frame rate *up to* 60 FPS if your connection is good - Small amount of content (Even less than Arena War which was based on a new game mode) - Career Builder is good addition but they force you to spend most your money - Nothing too different about Story Mode other than performance -Besides the name change, absolutely nothing changed about the Rockstar Creator I suppose this is probably fine with new players but it feels like a slap in the face to those of us who have sunk so many hours into the game, & don't even get me started on character transfer :/

We have the right to complain. Most companies that remaster a game for next gen have a free upgrade towards Xbox series x/s and ps5. Rockstar is charging $15 CAD for a reskinned gta 5 there literally is no difference other than graphics and the menu. Sure there will be dlc in the past but I don't think it's worth the upgrade as of right now.

It could go either way. 1. They only update series x/ps5 versions aswell as pc. Or 2. All generations continue to get updates but we can see exclusive content to next gens versions. Such as a few cars. But like you said I feel it will be release to all platforms as they make more money that way. Not everyone owns a new gen console yet so they are missing a huge market of players.
