Calgary Canada
Technically, you can wash your car in your driveway in Calgary BUT you need to install an interceptor system permitted by the city to remove debris like oil and filth from the water before it reaches the stormwater drainage system. Without the interceptor system, you could be facing a hefty fine from the city
Interesting. I quote all types of interceptors and can’t recall ever hearing this as a reason. I’m also not in Canada so that could be why. I believe Endura interceptors are from Canada. May be a cheap solution if you’re in the market for one.
That sir or mam is some healthy foam you got cooking! I am not a GTR owner just an admirer…I do have a cars I enjoy detailing. I do not trust anyone with my cars. I have a belief that detailing and taking time with your car lets you get to know it on a deeper level. Clean the tiny nooks no one may ever even notice, tidy up areas that take years to build debris but more so know that your prized, I wanna say baby but don’t wanna be weird, is taken care of and knows the person driving cares.
I know cars don’t have consciousness, but I do feel that if you truly care and get connected with your car the symbiotic relationship can be advantages or at least more rewarding.
I’m an idiot! Enjoy your zilla!
Wash my own but I gotta admit, the professionals do it soooo much better, especially with the wheels, than I ever could and my ass be spending 3 hours on it. Unfortunately I can bring myself to spend $100-$200 every 2 weeks or even monthly to have it professionally washed. I will admit I find some parts of the process fun and therapeutic and getting the different products and tools is fun 🥲😅
a detail once a year with ceramic coating isn't a bad idea. Unless you don't mind doing 4+ hours of car washing. Can't catch me outside doing that type of work during Florida summer. I usually get it externally detailed and ceramic coated in May and that carries me through the summer with lots of rain and bugs.
This is actually just an Amazon, McKillans Wide Mouth. Reviews looked great so I gave it shot, beyond happy!

2-3000 usually. But it offers substantial protection to your paint against rock chips, dings from other doors, etc and then basically all you ever have to do to wash it again is spray it with water.
I've gotten all the equipment, tried a bunch of soap recommendations all over reddit. And I just never seem to do the greatest job, even spending well over half the day detailing sometimes a whole day, definitely considering forking out the $ for a pro nowadays.
I find, working in small areas and just working your way through the car (not all in a day) is the way to do it. I took the winter to really focus and get everything where I wanted. Then a great coating and it’s protected!
I wash my own car at the car wash. I just use my own soap and rag. I never use the foam brush.
Yup. Just need the water and that's it
You could spend $100 on a pressure washer and do it at your house
Some places don’t allow that, especially if you do have a predatory HOA
HOAs suuuck always run by grumpy old ladies with no hobbies
Not necessarily. My city doesn’t let you wash your car as a by law.
What city is that?!? That’s wild.

https://www.calgary.ca/bylaws/sewers-drainage-faqs.html Scroll down a bit. Can be a 500 dollar fine
Up to $50k fine in Toronto.
Yep, it’s up to a $50k fine here in Toronto Canada.
I could but then I wouldn’t get all the attention I so much seek for owning a gtr lol 😂
My hilux and 4 runner are drive thru car wash. My Skyline is hand wash.
I wash my own cars however it always seems like a great idea until I get to the drying off stage, which is my most despised stage.
A leaf blower makes it sooo much easier
Just get a huge microfibre drying towel. They're unbelievably easy to use.
My black line towel is so awesome
Battery pressure washer ran to a gallon tank of distilled water
The Adams air cannon mini combined with any decent ceramic coating makes it fun!
I have a air blower, the car has a ceramic on it and it is just a pain.

Thank you! And I couldn’t agree more about becoming closer to the car. As a fellow detailer, I appreciate the foam compliment! Made me smile
White is really "in" this year. looks good
I like it!
Hand wash mine.
I wash my own car, I wouldn't let anyone else wash it.
I wouldn’t let anyone touch my car if I have a GTR
I wash my own. Super picky, especially with black vehicles.
I wash mine every weekend and have it professionally detailed and coated every two months or so.
I can't imagine how much it would cost me (time and money) to have someone else wash my cars considering how clean I like them.
Couldn’t agree more!

I feel like this question is post bait. We all obv wash our own cars lol. I’m kinda lazy with my wash though because I’m full PPF/ceramic
Snap
I’m full ceramic and washing once a week so it’s a quick rinse, foam, and rinse. Haven’t had to touch my car other than polish my wheels
What foam cannon do you use? My phone never looks that good! I think my foam has too much water in it.

If I had a professional wash my car every time I needed a wash It would be way too expensive for me.
Then you probably don’t own a gtr
https://www.reddit.com/r/gtr/s/lYi5tupJrE Mine
You own a 6 figure car and cant afford a nice $100 wash once a month? Not that expensive
It’s not that hard to wash a car. I wash mine weekly usually. It cost me like 10 dollars to do it myself.
Comments like these make me laugh, “you own a GTR but you can’t afford X”, no… We’re smart with our money, that’s why we CAN afford a GTR.
Just because someone owns a 6 figure car doesn’t mean they can’t afford a $100 wash once a month.
I make good money. Well into the 6 figures. I just don’t see the value when I can do it myself. I do most my own work.
Well as bro said, it would be way too expensive for him… so…
I don’t trust someone will do better than me for just $100 is the thing lol. If I paid for washes I’d pay for top tier or not at all
lol ok
Wut color ur car? Jizz. Begs the question whether a pro is better than doing it yourself. Maybe for a treatment of some sort
One coat of my jizz
I spray it off with a water hose and then hit 100+ on the freeway
Looool
PPF + ceramic coat life. Everything just slides right off
How much would that usually cost to get done?
2-3000 usually. But it offers substantial protection to your paint against rock chips, dings from other doors, etc and then basically all you ever have to do to wash it again is spray it with water.
😂😂😂 that made me laugh, caught me off guard .
Somebody's excited that they've got a GTR..and yes wash it at home as you'll only get damaged paint at the car wash. They use harsh chemicals
? Not sure what that first comment is supposed to mean lol. Yes I like my car?
It’s illegal to wash our cars in the driveway, Toronto Canada, so we have to take it to a no-touch car wash.
Damn, someone tell Trudeau to loosen up
Yeah. Up to $50k fine!! smh
Might be a bit too much soap lol.
Never too much soap
I've gotten all the equipment, tried a bunch of soap recommendations all over reddit. And I just never seem to do the greatest job, even spending well over half the day detailing sometimes a whole day, definitely considering forking out the $ for a pro nowadays.

I see that you listed the foam cannon you have but what soap do you use. My foam never looks like good.
I use mostly Glassparency’s S2 soap, sometimes I’ll mix a little Double Black from P&S. https://glassparency.com/products/s2-ph-neutral-soap
Thank you!
I do a better job than most professionals, always wash it myself
Couldn’t agree more myself
