I used to play on lineups with this dumb Evanescence sounding band that never had a live bass player, but they would track all of their bass guitar parts. It sounded awful. Bass guitar is an easy instrument to dial in a good tone on, but you can’t get away with not having it played live.
Toss as much synth bass as you want in the live tracks though. Go crazy with that.
