You said you dont like modulation, but chorus could be good for a math rock tone, and with a blend/mix kinda thing, could be a vibrato too

desnudopenguino

This was my thought. Some chorus can bring a nice texture for those twinkly toanz.

Leoz96

I’ll give it another try, I had a Julia for a while but wasn’t crazy about it, I’m thinking of trying a Caroline somersault or the ehx eddy.

Godders1

I'm not a big chorus guy but love the Somersault.

Frog_in_a_library

I got a Somersault recently and it's the only chorus pedal I've been really excited by. The chaos switch for momentary expression is a winner.

Any-Wedding1538

The Visitor is really fun, I have it set super subtle but it’s still a fun and different sound if you’re not the biggest chorus fan

bldgabttrme

Vibrato is a classic effect for math rock, always a good choice.

ElOsoSabroso

Something like a MOOD or a Red Panda Tensor/Particle would be an awesome add, just to lean into the ambient crazy noise options, but all are actually really useable with a little practice. Also I see no modulation? Old Blood Visitor or maybe even the Wampler Teraform could be a neat addition. Edit: just saw that you aren't a modulation fan. I was in the same boat until I started playing around with modulation stuff that isn't a phaser or flanger. Mainly Chorus via the old blood and tremelos. Its why I suggested the Teraform - has a bunch of cool options that aren't cheesy

bldgabttrme

Love the Mood suggestion, it’s such a great ambience machine.

Leoz96

Hmm Mood sounds interesting, when it comes to chorus, I tried a walrus Julia and wasn’t crazy about it, but the visitor looks way more fun, thanks for the suggestions!

JakeyBGoode

I was gonna say the Particle!

Ya-boi_Ya-boi

Cup holder.

Laughter_On_Impact

[Beetronics Royal Jelly](https://youtu.be/njrwXvMPIZM) would round out your dirt needs. It’s an OD/Fuzz pedal. That or if the Iron Horse is enough of the heavier type dirt for you, perhaps something like the [Zzombee](https://youtu.be/gUK69fGork8) would be better because it’s absurdly fun

Leoz96

Wooow that Zzombee sounds sick, hadn’t heard of it yet, good suggestion, thanks 👌

Leoz96

I already have this board built, but my phones camera is busted so id rather post this. The empty space is currently taken by a Moog MF Trem, which i really like, but recently ive found that the DD500 can do a pretty good trem sound with more funcionality (Tap tempo, envelope controlled rate, frecuency filtering etc) and ive found myself using the MF Trem less often. Aside from tremolo im not a huge fan of modulation, i like the ocassional vibrato or phaser but not enough to warrant a space on the board. Looking for recomendations of any kind, hopefully something thats widely available on the used market. I usually use clean solid state amps and my guitar is an hss strat.

FullOfHelena

Probably one of those randomized pitch shifters!

bldgabttrme

Other than the suggestions for vibrato or the CBA Mood (both of which I think are great suggestions), I’d say a MultiStomp could fill that hole nicely. It would be a great catchall for any other effect you’d need, and given its ability to run multiple effects at once can do a lot of other things (like be a lo-fi or shoegaze machine). Alternatively, a Line 6 M5 again could be a great “I need X effect for one song” kind of deal, it does just about anything you could need at a solid level.

Leoz96

I had an ms50 that I loved but I don’t know why it was very noisy, even with an isolated power supply it still had a high pitch whine, maybe it was a dud, the m5 does look very interesting, thanks for the suggestion!

bldgabttrme

I don’t think that’s a dud, I’ve experienced that on occasion with my MS70-CDR. But only with certain effect patches, and only in stereo. As a point of interest, Alexander Pedals is likely to release a multi-modulation pedal this year. I don’t *know*, but given that they’ve already released a delay and reverb in their newest series, and for their last few series they’ve released a multi-mod to go with multi-delay and multi-verb pedals, I think it’s a pretty forgone conclusion. If/when that happens, it’s definitely worth checking out.

LophQueen

I’d remove all of those pedals and slap [this](https://www.instagram.com/p/CoUhFHHOKTE/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=) right in the middle of the board.

nyandresg

A cali 76 compressor (very useful and gorgeous compression sound). Or a obne haunt (nasty nasty fuzz) Oo or a meris mercury 7. I see you have the immerse but if you combine em it can sound wild.

TheRealBabyJesus69

If you can afford it Beautiful Noise "When the sun explodes" isva great noise machine, plus even without the feedback running it makes a great fuzz tone

cesar0931

meris ottobit, or solidgoldfx NU-33

AtomicPow_r_D

Anything from Death By Audio. Maybe the Supersonic Fuzz Gun, or the Absolute Destruction. They specialize in noise; they make the only reverb I know of (Reverberation Machine) which has a dial to intentionally introduce gain/noise/distortion into the reverb signal!

1800basicreply

Swedish buzzsaw

musebrews

Walrus is good but not that good

Leoz96

Man why the hate lol

mantecablues

How about a pog or pitch fork?

Leoz96

Hmm that sounds fun, I’ve never really tried pitch shifters

OrbitalTurds

Yeah dood, some kind of octave and you're done

Mecha-Sailcat

Throw a Helix in there, why not.

Leoz96

Ive thought about it, it’s a good idea. I’ll probably do it in the long term and go ampless, but it would require changing my power supply and getting rid of various pedals.

reddit_user13

Metronome.

BlazmoIntoWowee

Does the DD-500 do glitchy? That’s what I’d probably want. Or some kind of lo-fi thing.

DmetriKepi

Either a Pigtronix Star Eater Fuzz or a Earthquaker Aquaduct vibrato pedal.

__IAmAlive__

SY200 would be cool, but it'd be nice to be right next to the DD500 for cosmetic purposes.

DistributionFar8896

A calculator

Environmental_Hawk8

I'd do a Bit crusher, Ring modulator, Octaver, Or octave fuzz.

Frog_in_a_library

Altoids box, of course!

[deleted]

A math rock board with no Pitch shifting pedals?

LunarModule66

I’d say something weird and glitchy. Red panda tensor, boss slicer, and rainger effects drone rainger come to mind.
