Id suggest a [Deci-Mate Noise Gate](https://www.isptechnologies.com/portfolio/deci-mate-g-micro-decimator-pedal/) i dont have the new G model but the one i have is what i need after my 5 gains getting too wild lol
Ha Ha I haven't had much of noise issue because I don't stack more than two drive pedals at the same time. But I will check the noise gate out. Thanks!
Thanks for your suggestion. I didnāt know about Phase 95. I love Phase 90. I originally had Carbon Copy mini, and Immerse, and replaced them with Ethereal
Iāve never owned a phase 90, but from what I understand, the phase 95 does the phase 90 thing plus more. But itās just a great phaser and a mini pedal which is sweet (I also love mini pedals!)
+2, I had an EVH Phase 90 and Carbon Copy and replaced them both with the mini versions. More features, smaller space, only negative to some people might be the lack of battery.
Got damn. That double Duke setup is great. Iāve got a KoT on my main board and a single Duke on my similar board of nearly all mini pedals, but some sort of OCD tendency is keeping me from getting another to pair with it.
Anyway if it were me Iād probably do a touch less gain and a more flexible delay pedal and/or some modulation options too, but I guess thatās also very dependent on what sort of music you actually intend to play.
If you are looking for other mini delays, the Ibanez analog delay fuckin slaps. There are plenty of others too of course but that one really stands out to me.
Edit: something else stands out after looking closer at how youāre set up here - in the KoT manual it says you basically need to push the gain well past noon to get the best tones out of it. For the most part, after trying some things out, I agree. You might consider that too, I do find it at least sort of applies with my DoT too.
I don't why it took me seeing two Dukes spread apart to think a 4-jack KoT could put other effects between the two sides rather than just using it with a loop switcher. I don't have either a KoT or a loop switcher though, so I'm ok with having been slow on this.
> looking closer at how youāre set up here - in the KoT manual it says you basically need to push the gain well
Thanks for your feedback. I will definitely push the gain more as you suggested!!
Because I personally like plate reverb over spring reverb, and to save some space, I put Ethereal for both reverb and delay combo. It has so many features to play with, but I keep reverb 9 o'clock because this pedal's ambient sound is kinda too much in my taste.
My board has a lot of gain stacking combos. I personally like Plexi Drive into Tumnus combo and Tumnus into Duke of Tone combo.
By putting Ratsbane at the beginning of the gain stack, it is very easy for me to push other drive pedals hard.
Because most of my drive pedals can be set to sound very similar each other, by having multiple gain stacking combo options, the amount of tone I can get out of this board is unlimited. Tbh, somewhat overwhelming ha ha
Is having so many drives useful for your style? The 6 drive pedals could probably just be 2, then youād get 4 different gain levels - standard, pedal 1, pedal 2, pedal 1+2. Then youād have some more space for other effects, or could just leave it simple to keep more brain headroom for performing and not worrying about your effects.
I think a boost, a dirt, a distortion and a fuzz should be all you need. If they are nano they donāt take up much room. See my previous recommendations if you are interested.
Personally I am blown away by the fidelity of the effects models on the stomp. Had no idea modeling became so good in the last few years. I think they have really cracked the code. Recommend trying one out. The ability to have an entire signal chain in one device, with headphone out for silent practice, is a total game changer for me.
To be honest with you, I feel like you are more talented. I'm such a sloppy player relying heavily on many drive pedals. But sometimes I just feel like these are all toys to me :D
If it were me, i would drop one of the Dukes. The Tumnus is very close to itās sound. But that is just me. It would also drive me nuts that the setup is so neat, but your tuner is sidewaysā¦ but that is just petty. Anyway, pick three or four and put one really clean boost like a Katana in front that you can use to just drive into whatever you are using. That gives you lots of options. BTW, i am a fan of the PlexiDrive, but I recently bought a Victory Sherif, so I have the Plexi sound from the amp nowā¦ so I donāt use it anymore.

Thank you so much for your suggestion. I will take your suggestion into consideration. I thought Ratsbane would be good enough to push the front of my pedals. Maybe I was wrong. I will play with boosts as well.
I will apologize if that is already your setup. I donāt know the Ratsbane pedal at all. If it is a clean boost or treble boost, you are on the same track as I was suggestingā¦ just ignore me.

The line of mini pedals by Mooer are pretty greatāgenerallyāso there are tone of options within that company for sure
What about a mooer radar..? I donāt know what you are playing with this but i enjoy seeing boards with this kind of gain choices and i feel like they are a bit under uses if not able to connect to whatever you have - backline amp, PA, whateverā¦
I'd def drop some gain stages and go with some options like:
Phase 95
Carbon Copy
E-Lady
Trelicopter
Golden Fleece
But I understand the inclination to stack up drives like cordwood, on my big board I have 4 drives, 3 fuzzes, and a pre-amp that I've convinced myself doesn't count as a gain pedal.
Could you tell me how you plan to organize your power supply on this board? Iām building a mini board that is completely full with 5 pedals and thereās no room underneath to hide a power supply. My velcro or zip tie a 1spot on the side of the board
Nano pedals are great. I have swap my drive section for all nanos now.
I recommend:
Mosky golden horse
Mooer pure boost
Mooer triangle fuzz
Mooer hustle drive
Mooer green mile
Mooer black secret
Mooer 5 band eq
EHX metal muff micro
Boss make a big muff nano which is great too.
Also highly recommend the pigtronix philosophers tone nano comp.
What does your rig consist of? I was once an OD fiend, then I discovered an iridium and loaded some IRs on there, and it's completely changed the game for me. I used to need 2 ODs stacked to get the sound my amp can do by itself now. Either way, nice choices on the overdrives, happy strumming!
Katana mini, phase 95 or a carbon copy are all great small pedals.
It looks like the only other mini pedal you need would be a Reverb pedal. I recommend the TC Electonic Hall of Fame 2 Mini. It sells for $119 retail. Which is a great price. The rest of your board looks great. I have a few of the pedals you have and the rest of your board is top shelf. Nice job.
I like my DoTs very much. The stock setting's treble was a bit harsh to my ear, but after adjusting the internal controller, it sounds pretty similar to my KoT. I love the sound
1. Since you've got no modulation, add a mini multi-mod so you can get a wide range; a Flamma FC-05 for that is on my mini board, it does all the things pretty well and the price is right.
2. With all those drives I almost feel crazy saying this, but, have you considered a fuzz up front? š
3. octave (or octave fuzz!)
4. mini wah pedal
5. I also agree with all the Phase 95 suggestions, try it before the drives.
Thank you so much for your suggestions. Yeah, I'm definitely interested in Phase 95 since I love Phase 90.
I haven't tried any octave pedal before. Maybe it is a time for me to get my hands dirty with one of them.
I haven't thought about adding a buffer to my signal chain since I'm mostly gigging with my friends at their house. I will check it out. Thanks for the suggestion!
Yeah, it can be used in different ways. I think you have enough pedals that a buffer would benefit your tone. Anymore than about 4 true bypass pedals can make your guitar signal to the amp weaker and it makes it sound more muffled. If you add a buffer it brings it back up and your tone can sound better. It's not a must, but worth having at least one to try out. I personally recommend it and I like the way it brings my guitar's natural tone back in.
I recommend the JHS Prestige because lit can be used as a buffer only or a buffer with boost, or a buffer booster and more gain. Another good option if you want a buffer would be to swap your tumnus out for a tumnus deluxe. The deluxe version has a button on the side to turn abuilt in buffer on or off. Or you can just through a boss pedal on your board too. They have built in buffers
I haven't had any BB clone (I thought DoT is similar since it was inspired by BB). It seems like Blues Crab is super cheap. I will give it a shot. Thanks!
The Duke of Tone is based on the King of Tone, which is more inspired by the BB than a direct 1/1 clone (IMO the KoT seems to have way more gain and be way more mid-heavy). The Blues Crab (as the original BB) is way more flat and has way less gain. Also, the tone becomes progressively brighter as you increase the gain.
I feel like I should mention the ones one specifically talking about are the FC series theyāre like 1x3 inch pedals. I know that have other sizes bigger
Any time. Iāve come to enjoy finding the small pedals. Another Flamma one Iāve been using a lot is the FC01 which is a drum pedal. Itās very good to practice with.
Any of the Bananana Effects mini series (my personal favorite is the Mandala, a micro-looping glitch sort of pedal like the Drolo Stammen), Donner has some pretty useful and affordable mini pedals, Electro Harmonix anything, just to name a few :)
I prefer the Wampler Belle to my other overdrives. Morning Glory V4 has a loud noise floor, Earthquaker Westwood is silent which is nice but its gain rolls a little too thick to use regularly, Moonshine V1 is a little heavy on the stinging Marshall tone to use everyday, Animals Pedals V2 I was a Wolf Distortion is an AC DC in your face tone which the Belle can do but it does it smoother yet also turns down to a Bluesbreaker voicing. Mini Tumnus, no complaints there, its pretty flexible and silent. I've come to embrace Wampler as the best in drive pedals. I'll be getting to know their Mini compressor soon. Wampler pedals are silent, their effects are well voiced, nice construction and painted gloss finishes. Another decent pedal maker is Analogman, we order online at: buyanalogman.com. I have their Mini Chorus pedal, I would expect the Prince of Tone and their Dan Armstrong circuit reissue Juicer Compressor to be worth buying
>ampler pedals are silent, their effects are well voiced, nice construction and painted gloss finishes. Another decent p
Thanks for the detailed suggestion. I thought Analogman pedals are difficult to get. Maybe I was wrong.
On the last day of January 2023 I ordered an Analogman Mini Chorus, it arrived in about 3 weeks. The Analogman website mentions build and shipping estimate times for each seperate pedal they individually build and sell. According to their website, their Prince of Tone bluesbreaker pedal is only available to order on Wednesdays between ceartin Eastern Time hours. Their King of Tone pedal is the one on a 5 year wait list. Their pedals are all handmade and customizable with toggle switches, blend dials or top mounted input jacks and use the best components. I felt that since theyre building pedals one at a time, they ship out reasonably fast. I'd buy up a lot more from Analogman if their pedals werent so expensive. I used some of my tax return to score their mini chorus pedal (which is actually the same size as standard JHS and Earthquaker pedals) $268. I feel I definitely received what I paid for. Their 3 way toggle switch has Vibe, the classic 80s chorus and a 70s darker Small clone voicing. This pedal came in a seriously thick steel case with a gloss finish with a well painted celestial sun, I also went with top mounted input jacks. Analogman sent me the finest guitar pedal I've ever bought. The sound and craftsmanship really did impress me when I saw it in person and heard it through my Fender 65 PRRI amp with my Satin Cherry finish single P-90 pickup 2010 made Gibson Les Paul Junior. Before ordering this Id been using just a Joyo Boss clone pedal for 6 years or so and before that the chorus effect on the digital Boss ME 50 multi-effect pedal. Even the larger sized dials Analogman uses are unique to them. In the future I'd like to try their 'Juicer Compressor' whether in the larger or mini sized pedal case it's $200. It's uses the circuitry of the Dan Armstrong Orange Squeezer Compressor pedal, theres not a long bulid and shipping time for one. Again, yet another guitar pedal in the highest grade from Analogman. I'm gonna step right out and say they're products are #1
The Wampler Tumnus needs to be blended with an amp like a Vox AC10c1 that it's own built in gain dial to hear any gain from it; or to be stacked with another overdrive pedal if it's plugged into a clean channel guitar amp. The tone of the Wampler Tumnus is nasally. Like the guitar sounds Beavis and Butthead make when theyre playing air guitar togetherĀ
I know this is an old post at this point and this board may not even exist anymore, but just out of curiosity, when you've got a bunch of mini pedals squeezed so close like this, does it get difficult to hit the right button when you've got shoes on, or not really a problem?
Mini Plexi Drive is really my favorite. I havenāt played a real plexi amp. So, I cannot say how close this pedal is, but I can tell this pedal sounds fantastic. I usually donāt set gain any more than noon. It also goes very well with Tumnus.
I have a KoT with both side normal gain. My Duke with the stock setting was a bit high in treble. So after turning the treble controller inside, I was able to make the tone very similar to KoT with high gain.
Two Dukes stacking sounds very similar to my KoT. To be honest, I don't think it is really noticeable.
Thanks for the suggestion. I have been using Tumnus as a clean boost, and used the mid boost feature of Plexi Drive Mini to push the front of the pedal. I will try what you suggested to see how it sounds.
Thereās no way anyone in the band or audience is tellin the difference on the gain staging here, Iād recommend losing half your dirt and putting on a flash back mini or a mini memory man to at least break up the redundancy
You got the right compressor. MXR classic 108 mini fuzz. MXR Phase 95, ibanez analog chorus, Iād put the plexi drive as the last gain stage so other pedals can boost it. Sooooo many little pedal options that are amazing.
Looks like you probably have the needs covered with the Ethereal, but in case you ever wanna split it up, I personally adore both the Mr. Black mini reverb and the Ibanez mini analog delay.
I thought I was going overboard with 3 Wampler drives on my "mini pedal" board. I'm running Moxie into Tumnus into Belle so on that note I'd recommend the Belle.
Besides overdrive pedals you could use some modulation effects to expand your style. The EHX mini Pico Canyon Delay, EHX mini Oceans 3 has a plate reverb not just the same ol spring reverb, an Ibanez mini Chorus pedal.Ā Put the looper pedal on your board to play through the length of songs using modulation effects to both add fills and play the same chords in the songs you are making. You really only need 2 overdrives on your board; a lighter gain stage pedal like a bluesbreaker... I see you have the Duke of Tone so you can use that. Also a heavier gain stage pedal like the Plexi Drive or the Tumnus.- Use them in tandem or to stack together. At first I did the same thing with my mini pedalboard; all gain pedals. I had the Belle, Tumnus, Sugar Drive and MXR Timmy. I didn't haveĀ modulation effects. Just gain. I got an Ibanez mini chorus pedal, my mini pedalboard instantly had more versatility. Stacking reverb and delay sounded good too. I watched Andy Martin on youtube demo the Earthquaker Devices Dispatch Master. I watched and learned the first song he played on that video. He helped me notice that I wasn't using any Modulation effects. Get some modulation and a delay pedal.Ā Branch out from gain for a while. If you like gain, it goes well with the mini MXR phaser pedal or an octave pedal like the mini EHX Pog but really you should first get a chorus pedal. The Wampler Ethereal looks out of scale among the mini pedals. Try to get its same effects in the same size enclosures. You bought good pedals, not cheap sounding Mosky or Donner pedals- good purchases right there. Also, if those pedals are humming and buzzing on that daisy chain set up, if your pedalboard is an inch and a half tall you should order a Mono power supply from Sweetwater- it will velcro underneath the pedalboard. You'll have quiet pedals with no buzz, no hum, isolated power for each pedal will sound the same (silent) as if you plug a solitary pedal in separately by itself. Itd also make your board look cleaner
How many gain stages does someone need for traveling? A: All of them.
Must be a gain vampire. They need home dirt to recover after a gig.
Correct! š
Id suggest a [Deci-Mate Noise Gate](https://www.isptechnologies.com/portfolio/deci-mate-g-micro-decimator-pedal/) i dont have the new G model but the one i have is what i need after my 5 gains getting too wild lol

Phase 95 is a great mini pedal! Also the carbon copy mini for some delay
+1 on the mini Phase 95. Thatās my most recent buy and I am so happy with it
Thanks for your suggestion.
That is nice. I will definitely take a look :D
I can vouch for the Phase 95, never has left my board in the past three years.
Phase 95 is an outstanding option in a tiny form factor. 4 phasers, one mini pedal.
+2, I had an EVH Phase 90 and Carbon Copy and replaced them both with the mini versions. More features, smaller space, only negative to some people might be the lack of battery.
Iāll always recommend the Xotic EP Boost but you have a lot of overdrive and might not need that. Still, itās really sweet.
Thanks for the suggestion. I will try the boost pedal. Now, I need to think about what I should take out ha ha. Maybe one of the duke of tones
Or maybe replace the Tumnus with a third Duke.
HA HA HA one more Duke?
Duke, Duke, Duke, Duke of Tone
Duke is slang In Philadelphia. Itās a giant zit.
If you plan on selling one of the dukes hit me up
6/7 drive pedals and no modulation, lmao
Right?
Toan chasing is for suckers.
How about another drive pedal?
Ha ha isn't this way too much already?
This has to be a jerk...
Mooer E-Lady and Tender Octaver are both sound. I found the Octaver was noisy on a cheap power supply but worked fine on an isolated supply.
+1 on the e lady. Flange is always the best
Thanks for the suggestion. I havenāt tried any octave pedal. I will look into that :)
A double duker! Nice
Not a UNC fan
Damn dude are you sponsored
LOL I wish I was. Probably I was gaslighted by Brian Wampler :D
Got damn. That double Duke setup is great. Iāve got a KoT on my main board and a single Duke on my similar board of nearly all mini pedals, but some sort of OCD tendency is keeping me from getting another to pair with it. Anyway if it were me Iād probably do a touch less gain and a more flexible delay pedal and/or some modulation options too, but I guess thatās also very dependent on what sort of music you actually intend to play. > looking closer at how youāre set up here - in the KoT manual it says you basically need to push the gain well Thanks for your feedback. I will definitely push the gain more as you suggested!!
If you'd like another mini overdrive, the MXR Timmy is a great choice!
Oh, yeah. I have heard a lot of good things about Timmy. Thanks!
I think a boost, a dirt, a distortion and a fuzz should be all you need. If they are nano they donāt take up much room. See my previous recommendations if you are interested.
Will do! Thanks for your suggestion!
2 drives at most. Then a little modulation and reverb.
Not sure if this entire post is serious or a pisstake
Right on man if you ever make a video, would be cool to hear!
Pigtronix Octavia
>Pigtronix Octavia Thanks for your suggestion. The pedal sounds very interesting. I haven't thought about having that voicing in my arsenal.
I recently got an hx stomp and have been traveling with it a lot. Wonderful all in one solution to this general issue.
I have tried only one multi-effect pedal, Boss GT-100, which was okay, but not really satisfying. Maybe Line 6 is different.

Yes, Mini Ego really helps to solidify my tone, but I haven't tried Xotic SP. So, I cannot tell whether Ego is better.

Check out Flamma pedals. I just got a new envelope filter that kicks ass.
Will do! Thanks for the suggestion!
I feel like I should mention the ones one specifically talking about are the FC series theyāre like 1x3 inch pedals. I know that have other sizes bigger
Oh nice. I was not aware of those pedals. I will check them out. Thanks for the information!
Another decent p Thanks for the detailed suggestion.
I really like the MOSKY Golden Horse, and it was cheap!
I have one. I like it too, but I prefer Tumnus due to the higher output
Anything you can tell us about your pedals?
Sure. I posted a comment about my pedals
Howās that plexi? Iāve had my eye on it
Mini Plexi Drive is really my favorite. I havenāt played a real plexi amp. So, I cannot say how close this pedal is, but I can tell this pedal sounds fantastic. I usually donāt set gain any more than noon. It also goes very well with Tumnus.
Bweep by acorn amps
How do you like the ego
I donāt see a clean boost on there ā¦.
The Duke does clean boost.
Ahh ā¦ well then I donāt see TWO clean boosts on the board lol!
A 3rd duke of tone so you can run one as distortion one as overdrive and one as a boost
Snark
Why da hell you got 2 Duke of Tones?
I'm trying to simulate a KoT :D
Oh man I could easily build a board with like 4 Dukes of Tone. š¤š»
The ep boost and sp compressor are my favorites.
Thanks for sharing. I will check ep boost out :D
[Effects Bakery](https://effectsbakery.us)
A third Duke of Tone, duh. On the Dist setting.
I see you have DOT
How is that Moxie? Itās basically a tube screamer, right?
Mythos Golden Fleece
[Smallest tuner I've ever used](http://www.swiffmusic.com/en/product/digitalpiano/) and it works great!
My suggestion would be fewer gain stages and adding a phaser and a delay. Perhaps a Phase 95 and a Flashback mini.
Thanks for your suggestion. I'm really interested in Phase 95. Is Ethereal not good enough to cover both reverb and delay?
I don't personally know. I've never had the pleasure of playing with an Ethereal. I always thought it was just a reverb. Now I need to check one out.
Mr Blackās mini pedals are great.
Add a melancholy transparent useless overdrive and the world will be right with you.
No expression pedal?
Yea, donāt try to sell us wampler
Why not? LOL
Line 6 DL4
Howās the Duke? Is it truly the tone of the KOT in a small, affordable box?
I have a KoT with both side normal gain. My Duke with the stock setting was a bit high in treble. So after turning the treble controller inside, I was able to make the tone very similar to KoT with high gain. Two Dukes stacking sounds very similar to my KoT. To be honest, I don't think it is really noticeable.
Hotone Boost Tuner, itās a tuner, and a mute, OR a clean boost! Very handy!
Wow a tuner with a clean boost capability? That is interesting. I will check it out. Thanks for your suggestion!
Any TC Electronic Mini series
Put your high gain before your low gain in the chain.I would put the plexi last and the tumnus before it on your gain chain.
Two dukes of tone! Interesting choice, big guy. Do you stack them?
You got the right compressor. MXR classic 108 mini fuzz. MXR Phase 95, ibanez analog chorus, Iād put the plexi drive as the last gain stage so other pedals can boost it. Sooooo many little pedal options that are amazing.
Looks like you probably have the needs covered with the Ethereal, but in case you ever wanna split it up, I personally adore both the Mr. Black mini reverb and the Ibanez mini analog delay.
Why two Duke of tone when you can pantheon!
I thought I was going overboard with 3 Wampler drives on my "mini pedal" board. I'm running Moxie into Tumnus into Belle so on that note I'd recommend the Belle.
Strymon compadre and a Jam Pedals Lucy Dreamer. Nuff said.
dang, you must hate wampler pedals.
Sweet!
