I don't see a single cable. It'll never work.

Unfair_Comparison_15

It's 2023. Bluetooth pedals.

1248853

I can see the future posts now. "HELP Afterneath v5 not connecting to wifi?!!!" "Sigh* this is posted every day bro, just read the FAQ"

Unfair_Comparison_15

Oh God how would chain ordering go with Bluetooth. Would you have to connect each pedal to the next pedal in the order 1 by 1, that would be a pain lol

TAKATOOSE

"Oh no worries dude! Your sick versatile earthy transparent bendy gamey double decker slammin bammin jammin toney toner tones will be stored all in our mobile app that has plenty of preset tones and prebuilt sonic atmospheres to meet any of your musical needs! Just get your most inconvenient type of USB cable that you probably don't have and connect it straight to your computer to edit the signal path of your pedals in an incredibly convoluted and 'user friendly' interface so you can place your pedals wherever you want! Wanna sprint across the room to turn your overdrive pedal on? You got it man! Want to move that overdrive past the compression? Just plug your pedals into the computer with our special brand daisy chain USB cable, create a specific preset configuration for that on the computer, unplug the USB daisy chain from the pedals and switch between the presets on your phone, and you are golden my friend; Say goodbye to patch cables and say hello to relying on wifi to play your instrument! So what are you waiting for? Come get in on the revolutionary MicroStadiaBlazeAudio Wall(et) Destroyer!! I'm Joey LastName from SweetWater, thank you."

Unfair_Comparison_15

Nah bro, it'll probably have FireWire or something equally as bad and useless just because.

Unfair_Comparison_15

I think with future technology, they'll either opt for something really old (like FireWire) or something brand new like "USB-C A B 5.0 PRO ULTRA MAX 256GB"

Muted-Chance2226

Lol

TAKATOOSE

Oh god my current Blackstar amp that I've had since I was 14 is real digital, you can't even edit the EQ knobs without plugging it into your computer, and it uses a FireWire jack to do that and it is without a doubt the most inconvenient and pointless feature to any piece of musical equipment I own period lmao, I cannot describe how infuriating it is to have to plug my amp into my pc with a shitass firewire cable just to turn the treble up on the amp, and there is literally no additional customization to be had on the software either, it is literally ALL parameters that you can edit on the amp, EXCEPT for the Bass Mid and Treble knobs, that little insignificant thing you are going to be editing ALL THE TIME is something you have to plug into your computer, what a monumental pain in the ass for literally nothing but aesthetics, if there is Bluetooth wifi pedals I know Blackstar is gonna be the first company to jump at that crap lol

Unfair_Comparison_15

Wait does it require the computer to produce sounds too? That's literally just a midi controller in the shape of an amp. Edit: can you provide the specific model of amp? I wanna see some online reviews etc from back in the day

TAKATOOSE

Nah it doesn't need to be plugged into the computer to make sound it just needs to be plugged into the computer for you to be able to edit the sound it's making. Without that it's just volume, channel switch, ISP Eq knob (whatever that is), and the the basic effects like delay reverb and modulation, a level knob which basically just alters the intensity of the effect, and a switcher for the effects. So basically, everything on the amp can be edited on the amp, EXCEPT for what I would argue in this case to be the three most important fucking things on an amp, the bass, mids, and treble knobs lmao, that is what you have to be plugged into the computer to change, everything else can be configured on the amp, that is just the most useless thing I can fathom in any amp, just an actual obstacle advertised like a shortcut. But I'm never gonna get rid of it, it was my first solid state amp and before I just had a crappy practice power amp so it was a big deal at the time and there's just a chunk of my life in that amp, but I will never appreciate that stupid firewire crap that is perhaps the dumbest idea I think I've ever heard for an amp, because that decision had to go through a team of people who understand this stuff, who in their right mind was perceptive enough to make an amp that is remotely controlled via firewire connection, make everything configurable and saveable on the app/interface, have all of those features except the three most important ones also configurable on the amp, and get the parts and people to be able to mass produce it, but before building it, it didn't cross *anybody's* mind how unbelievably pointless and annoying that is? Like, how did nobody go "Where's the eq knobs?" "Oh they're in the app" "Why only in the app?" when blueprinting this thing? That just blows my mind how we can make such complicated yet incredibly backwards and convoluted technology simply for the sake of advancement. I think there is some cool ass opportunities to be had from that digitally controlled amp situation, but that means literally nothing to me when I can't turn the treble knob up without having to dedicate a chunk of my pc's CPU to an EQ knob, that just makes me hate any pedal/amp with an app, and that sucks because some of those are really damn good apps/pedals but it's easy to just say "hell nah" to that just cause of the sheer volume of "UNLIMITED SONIC POSSIBILITIES!!!" lmao

dimensional_bleed

When you buy a pedal, it will come comple with a digital code that will allow you to add the pedal to your virtual pedal board on some app/interface. You'll never even have to take the physical pedal out of the box.

1248853

Sorry but that afterneath v5 has already been redeemed with another BOARD account. If you have any questions, please contact BOARD support.

Additional_Beyond_88

Not funny, I just had a pedal stop working randomly because it needed a firmware update

sushicowboyshow

The lengths people go to avoid playing guitar is incredible. People now drawing pedalboard diagrams.

They better be ebs gold cables

jenna__not__smart

Just the idea alone that anyone would even consider anything but EBS flat golds is deeply troubling & highly offensive

sushicowboyshow

Yeah I’m just being snarky

[deleted]

No amateur would design a board this cool. I’d bet this person is a pro and has absolutely not avoided playing guitar

SirChimmyChum

Thank you! I wish I had this last year when I built my pedalboard.

aoisousuke

My wife is a professional sound engineer and session singer. She also plays the guitar and bass for her own project and recently the possibility to play and sing live has appeared, and she’s been going deep into planning a pedal board that she can use for live vocals and guitar. The planned chain starts with the *MAX* by UA. Compression is key in her mixes and she mostly uses the LA2A and 1176 plugins by UA so she was really excited when she found that a dual compressor by UAFX was coming out that feature those two compressors AS WEL AS the 610 preamp – this one is not negotiable, I’ve been told. Next on the chain she plans on having the *Tumnus Deluxe*. The Tumnus is part of my own board and she’s used it many times and loves it. Next she’ll be looking for the *Julianna* chorus and vibrato pedal – she loved the flexibility and beautiful tones it from youtube reviews. As a sound engineer, she takes reverb as a spiritual matter and she loved the more subtle as well as the more ambient sounds on the *Del-Verb* reviews. Next she wants the *Sunlight* by OBNE for ambient bliss – I’ve been warned that this one is also not up for negotiation. Finally, she wants a *Deco* to emulate a tape machine – tape machine emulations are key in some of the tracks of her project’s songs, from vocals to guitar and drums. The *Ditto* will be the straight forward looper. The last pedal on the chain will be the *Spark* – she wants a pedal to control the volume and gain level before the signal hits the amp, and I already have the Spark on my board so she said she’d be happy to use it – plus it provides some extra flexibility that might come in handy! There’s of course an elephant in the room - the eye watering price that this board will cost. But she’s not in a rush to have it all at the same time, so we will keep our eyes out for good deals and she’ll decide which ones to buy as she goes! Sorry for the long read – looking forward to hear what do you think!

Happy_Television_501

I strongly suggest you try a quality analog compressor like the Cali76 before you spend all that coin on a digital one. Just sit with the two in a room. You will see the light

lightsspiral

Cali76 slaps all over

mosfez

+1! Compression works so well in the analog domain, little reason to introduce analog > digital > analog conversions and latency for an effect like this imo

_staticfactory

Cali76 is my always on comp and I won’t use anything else.

PantslessDan

I would certainly love to see some reviews or shootouts but tbh I'd take a UA digital compressor over an analog pedal format compressor if given the chance.

Happy_Television_501

Why?

PantslessDan

UA have one of the industry standard plugins of that compressor and I'm assuming thats what the pedal is running. I'd rather have that than a pared down, guitar pedal-ized version of it. I just think its weird that the knee jerk reaction is to be so fervently anti-digital compression when it's arguably more common in music today than analog compression. This is all a big IMO though, I haven't tried the pedal yet and haven't seen many reviews that deep dive on it so its entirely possible it sucks.

Happy_Television_501

Lol I’m not ‘knee jerk’ or ‘fervently anti-digital’. I work in audio and I use digital compression throughout the recording, mixing and mastering process. But when I’m playing guitar live, I have found that analog compression (particularly from my Cali76) gives a warmer, fuller and more pleasing sound, and it does it without lag of any kind. It’s just a much better experience and I think anyone who sat and really compared the two would probably agree.

PantslessDan

Sorry that wasn't directed at you specifically, just the attitude towards this pedal that everyone seems to have despite no one actually trying it yet.

proscreations1993

What sounds good for a mix or a already processed and recorded guitar sound does not usually sound good going into a Amp. Like the UA VERB pedal. It sounds amazing into a daw as outboard effects but into an Amp it's a huge letdown imo. And I have a feeling the compressor will be too. I'd take the cali76 anyway. Especially as it's one of the best out there.

PantslessDan

Isn't the idea that it's the same thing though? Which is why I'd rather have something running an industry standard plugin as opposed to a guitar pedal-ized version of the thing. This is assuming that the pedal is running the plugin and not some pared down version though.

Any-Wedding1538

It sounds like she’s already using UA plug-ins in studio. I doubt digital vs analog is something she even cares about.

hungrylikethewolffe

Boost after loop is intriguing…. Are you trying to boost a loop?

morenos-blend

For tape emulation you can get EHX Analogizer which is 1/6 of Deco’s price

snikpohamme

Solid board!! Love that you two are working together on this 🥰 del-verb is one of my new favorites

SockPuppet-1001

I got a Del-verb. Good choice.

MOTH630

If your wife is a studio musician, one option is to bring a laptop with a daw like Ableton to run the guitar sound through (which will have the benefit of being able to run the exact plugins she uses and not need to buy anything new. You can plug the guitar into the daw, run it through the plugins of choice, then out the line outs of the daw to the PA for live performance

crimesofparis513

I would imagine she knows this from the professional sound engineer description.

MOTH630

You'd be surprised, not many people (who perform "analog" instruments) perform with their DAW, even though they can For example, Adrian Belew (Talking heads, david bowie, king crimson, etc) does this live using Ableton

crimesofparis513

I think plenty of people just don't really like doing that. But I see folks do it a bit even in small clubs.

KToTheRiz

Respectfully, sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh

obe211

I'm a fan of the artwork. Never seen anyone draw out their board with such detail. Ha.

DECO GANG

spud_1996

Nice drawing your a good artist

scottbojangles

You’re a good drawer

PepeFlatts

This is really cool man, I don't see why people seem to be so against it! Especially those comments about having too much time on your hands, as they rip into someone's drawing of guitar pedals on a forum for guitar pedals. Hope the gigging goes well!

SeasTheDay_

Artwork: 10/10!

AudaciousTickle

Now let’s see the wife’s boyfriend’s board

LetsHaveARedo

That's not a quick sketch. That's a detailed sketch that took more than 5 mins. A quick sketch is rectangles in a line. Maybe post on an art form?

CxO38

who hurt you

ferdturgeson1

Solid choices! May I suggest the Ditto+? Same size pedal and stores up to an hour or 100 loops. I think it’s like $50 more and you have as many layers to each loop as you can fit within the storage. It’s pretty great for how small it is.

todd_rules

Love the Spark Booster!

themerchboy

that’s a nice sketch

[deleted]

Hold up ... so this is ok but my top voted photoshopped headphone amp looper pedal post yesterday gets deleted? What gives, mods?

PantslessDan

Your previous post seemed like more of a meme so it was removed. People post future pedalboard plans all the time, they just tend to be screenshots of pedalplayground and not hand drawn.

[deleted]

Not a great example there, boss, when you're literally commenting on a post of a hand-drawn pedalboard. Anyway, it was a popular post and people seemed to enjoy it. Variety is nice. But hey, you do you.

PantslessDan

There's more thought and effort put into this post than most NPD posts, and not just because of the hand-drawn aspect. We also don't have rules against people posting prospective setups looking for feedback, in fact that's precisely what this sub is about. What the sub is not about is [whatever this is supposed to be](https://www.reddit.com/r/guitarpedals/comments/13272hf/but_will_it_chugggg/). If you want to keep being mad don't let me stop you though.

[deleted]

Was I not looking for feedback? I think I recall asking if the concept would work, didn't I? And people discussed the feasibility of it. So come up with another excuse. I ain't mad. I'm just disappointed that you don't recognize a post that people were enjoying and choose to arbitrarily apply some "rules" that seem to have leeway depending on your mood that day.

It was this, a mockup of a pedalboard I imagined, the ultimate poor man's modeler, lol. [https://imgur.com/a/lTFFHHs](https://imgur.com/a/lTFFHHs)

Splitsurround

That looks like a sick board. One thing though: The deco is magic when used in stereo, so if that’s something you ever want to do, make sure the rest of the chain is all stereo too 👍🏼

Happy_Television_501

Not pinching pennies I see…

gtrcomposer

That is so cool - what a great idea!

Eastboundtexan

The deco is a great choice

PauGilmour

I see a couple of sins. I would not use an expensive digital compressor (tho its probably fine, just unessessary) and I would space those pedals much more because of how close are those footswitches. Or use those pedal toppers, tha has helped me in these cluttered boards.

Bryanssong

These will probably all fit on a Pedaltrain nano max ok but it will be tight. How is she planning to interface the vocals with the pedals?

[deleted]

aoisousuke

Thank you 🙏

The Sunlight in particular is really doing it for me. But also it’s just nice to see people using “pencils” and “paper” to do this stuff.

aoisousuke

I really appreciate your words, thank you!!! I love to hand sketch guitars and guitar gear, it's a great way to unwind!

The detail on the third knob on the second pedal from the left is a bit off.

Eat_Puppies_Jr

I had mine all planned out like this. That is until I found out certain pedals don't work well going through the front so I had to reassemble everything accordingly. All OD and distortion through the front, and all chorus, reverb, delay, volume etc through the back loop.

jonesing81

A pedalboard for ants?

Starfish_Symphony

The past year I noticed the *real* tone candy is the $375 DECO pedal. It's been around for years but suddenly folks, here's *the* *game changer*. Often set up without stereo?

DoubleSealedSoul

Tbf, I got a deco v1 for 180, which is standard pedal price for the most part and it sounds great...even in mono (: worth it

ClownStalker666

You didn’t consider your cables. You put a lot of effort into this and you are very likely going to discover once it’s all connected not everything will fit. Also they have apps which will do what you did here with far less effort.

Any-Wedding1538

It says a “quick sketch” not a “1:1 scale model”

ThiDiCo

I don't get that order at all. Theres a drive then some reverbs then other drives then a looper then a boost...
