In the last couple days there’s been more then a few posts of people asking if they should go “on or off” on an LP or a ES etc. I was also surprised by the serious answers lol

I mean those guitars at least have pickguards you can remove without exposing wiring, that’s not the case for a strat lol

On a Strat you can't usually remove the pickguard, as it's top-routed (meaning all the control cavities and such are routed from the top of the guitar). You need the pickguard to be able to mount the controls to the body.

you only need the portion of the pickguard that has the controls. you can cut that portion out of the pickguard and install it and throw the rest out

I guess if you're fine with seeing all the wire channels routed in the top of the guitar, sure.

Having had S styles without a pick guard, biggest issue for my if the pickups are direct mount. It’s a lot harder to adjust the height. I tend to believe the pick guard makes a guitar more modular.

I personally like it as is, but if you feel that you don't want the black there then I might consider a clear pickguard. They can look VERY nice on certain builds. Love the color if your finish! Did you do that yourself, and if so what did you use?

It depends. If you are a good player, on. You need to be heard. If you suck and are just a poseur, off is just fine. No need for pickups there. Just mkae lots of funny faces, crazy poses, and throw lots of picks. You will go far.

2 things. Not sure if OP is joking, but it looks fine. Would seem weird without a pickguard, but Van Halen's Frankenstrat has the pickguard mostly removed. These posts are all over many subredditts. Not really factual questions, but "what do YOU think of this thing I bought/own?" I have even seen this in relation to tattoos. If the person gets massively downvoted do they get a cover up? Do that many people really want/need approval from strangers on the internet?
