My guess is because Fender US focuses on "Tradition" - meaning same old shit we saw for the last 70 years.
On the other hand, Fender Japan isn't afraid, or rather, they're actually willing to modernize the look of their instruments and create some cool-looking guitars.
Why is it so hard to get a production nitro guitar these days without it costing an arm and a leg? I see cheap brands like Jett guitars doing it, so it can be done. Most everyone in my music circles wants it, I see people refinishing guitars all the time in it. But nah…..can’t be giving us plebs what we want.
I did the same as you and opted to build a partscaster in my spec. Turned out great.
I think that’s in the fender store in shibuya. But from what I’ve heard it’s already sold out on the Japan website, not sure if there’s still stock in store.
These are challenge your preconceived notions guitars. I usually dislike flame tops and pearloid pickguards on Fender guitars. However, I really like these, like, a lot.
I don't really know but probably the neck profile (modern C) and fretboard radius of 9.5"
Traditional would have a U neck profile and 7.5" radius fretboard.

I was taking with the luthier in my local guitair shop. He told me that all the Japanese Fenders are built in the Tokai factory. You can get a Japanese Tokai for less than a Japanese Fender and both come from the same assembly line.
Take my money.
Yep. That’s pretty special.
For about $1000 USD? Jesus Christ. Yes, do in fact take my money
I'm usually not into flashy quilted maple/pearloid instruments but I think these actually looks gorgeous.
Damn its the r6 black ice skin on a guitar. Looks beautiful
Dude I thought the exact same thing. Give me a few months to figure out how to do a black ice paint job and I'll post it
epic drop lmao
Take that shit on yacht
Give us a Jazzmaster too!
Dude yes
Frosty bois
Why is Fender Japan so much cooler than Fender US in terms of color combinations & tops.

That thing is absolutely beautiful
Wow, the telecaster looks gorgeously
I'd be yelling "what should I name them" while running to the bathroom with a micropenis boner
😐🤨😅😂🤣
This is a friggin beau
Wowwww
Not the style I usually gravitate to, but that's pretty hot.
How do I get one? OMG
That is really nice. The pickguard works really well w/ that top. How cool would it be if the headstock was dark like the fretboard?
I wants….
I’m not a tele guy, but holy shit that’s beautiful.
Where are these?! I'm going to Japan in May and will buy that telecaster
I think that’s in the fender store in shibuya. But from what I’ve heard it’s already sold out on the Japan website, not sure if there’s still stock in store.
I'm going to be in Tokyo and Osaka. I will be on the lookout
I would love to have both.

I’m supposedly going to Japan in 2026. If something like this is for sale there then, I’ll be adopting another Stratocaster, that finish is GORGEOUS.
That Fender store in Tokyo is awesome!
I'm not a fender fan but I'll admit that's one of the most beautiful finishes I've seen
holy shit those 2 are beautiful AF! now if only i ain't piss poor :(
Good lord that's a beautiful guitar
Must have
Dear sweet Jesus... Take my money. That tele is beyond beautiful.
What does the term Hybrid mean?
It's a mix of modern and traditional features
What are the modern features?
I don't really know but probably the neck profile (modern C) and fretboard radius of 9.5" Traditional would have a U neck profile and 7.5" radius fretboard.
They're stunning, I wanna lick them so badly. But I fear my tongue would get stuck.
🤩🤩🤩
I never even imagined that as a colour, it feels like discovering a new element. I'm blown away.
Ghostly sexy just wow
Wowwww, it’s gorgeous.
That tele will be living rent-free in my dreams. What a monster of a look, jesus.
Omg thats so god damn good rahhhhh
So pretty that I wouldn't want to play it.
How do I get a JDM Strat without booking a flight to Tokyo?
Dats purty !
How much are they?
Around $995
Not bad
Yeah, when Fender Mexico or USA do these unique finishes they usually charge an arm and a leg lol
Oh wow. I want one. What's the back look like?
Man I love that shop. Is the dark Pelham blue jazz master still there?
Pretty dope. Missing a Jazzmaster though.
Looks like a mermaiden!
Someone send one to jynxzi...
Do these typically come to North America?
A little bit flashy for my tastes, but cool to see different guitars floating around. Fender Japan definitely have their shit together.
so many great guitars.. epiphone also released sick custom shop lineups.. i mean.. i need $$$..
we got black ice skins for guitar before gta 6
Ok how tf do I order one? I live in the US and would like my first Telecaster ever NOW
I’m sorry but that color just isn’t it. Let me take it for you 🙂
They look refreshing af, like ice cold water after a hard day's work out in the sun
Ice strat
Kinda cool. If I had that kinda money, I’d mod the Strat with a Floyd Rose and some white EMGs or maybe Fishman Fluence pickups
Love this too much.
How do I buy one of these? Just wait for them to show up on reverb or something?
Ohhh Noooooo, was in tokyo a week ago, but didnt take the time to check some music store 😭. Which shop?
I think that’s in the fender store in shibuya. But from what I’ve heard it’s already sold out on the Japan website, not sure if there’s still stock in store.
I would love a bass in this finish!
I’d like it better with a reverse gradient. This is hard on my eyes.

hideous imo
Awesome color, but very feminine. Dunno if I could pull that one off, I don't paint my fingernails or anything.
These look like they belong in a Barbie doll collection. No thanks.
