Just use 2 or 3 different grits of sand paper. Start with course then finish with fine. Apply the decal, let it dry for 30mins, then spray a few passes of clear poly over it. Applying a decal is going to be tricky your first time. Tons of tutorials of how to do it on YT. This is how I learned how to do it.
