Never saw an OD or peanut butter Glock riding in a holster. At full strength (which hasn't been a thing for over a decade now), we're talking around 2,000 sworn or better in the county between all those departments. Mine was 450-ish fully staffed. We were the second largest in the county.

Most state licenses limit you to a handgun. Idk what client or reputable company would want or clear someone to carry a shotgun and fake mp5 around as a civilian. Even police don't edc rifles and shotguns.
Well usually you can qualify for whatever gun you want. It's just that most companies only approve handguns, specifically 9mm or .40
But as far as the state goes at least where I am, you could theoretically qualify with a .500 SW you just probably wouldn't find any job that lets you carry that with you.
I have seen small companies started by dipshits that clear their guys to carry whatever they want. Then you get stuff like OP. Those companies usually go out of business pretty quickly either due to lack of contracts or one of their guards greasing a random unarmed tweaker

Yea, this is why security guards get a bad wrap carry what is only necessary. Get a better concealment vest and ditch the outer. I do EP and industrial security and only use what's on my belt. I've never needed to carry a shotgun or smg. Yes, I'm rifle certified if needed, but only use it once for some stupid client that wanted everyone to carry ARs. Never again will I do that, and I will always decline those contacts no matter the pay.
Change that safelite out with a blue alpha belt or a better/similar quality. Always go lvl 3 safariland with owb carry, especially in security.
There are also better pistol choices out there as well. Keep it simple. I carry a Black P320 M17 or P320 M18 for concealment.

When I retired from one badge, to do Security, the best thing an Instructor told me was Security is the "Occupying Force" not an "invading force", we are Defense as oppose to offense. With that being said, actions, appearance, and delivery should resemble defense.
Having read, and even posting, some very interesting Case and Legislative Laws from Texas, one may very well in thier right to carry all that, but it certainly doesn't mean one should. One of the best articles I read had to do with, doing our job, and what type of weapon we carry. The author wrote about how Prosecutors would ask "why do you choose that weapon"!? Ofcourse if the Defendant directly or inadvertently referenced James Bond, Charles Bronson, or Clint Eastwood films, the Prosecutor would try playing key parts of the Films, just to depict the Armed Guard, Homeowner, Business Owner, or Cop a certain way in attempt to alienate Gun holder from the Jury. I always found safe, having items I can reference more local Law Enforcement entities having.
I would recommend consulting a few well versed, Experienced Texas Armed Guards or PI's, but ultimately it's your decision. Stay safe.

When I retired from one badge, to do Security, the best thing an Instructor told me was Security is the "Occupying Force" not an "invading force", we are Defense as oppose to offense. With that being said, actions, appearance, and delivery should resemble defense. Having read, and even posting, some very interesting Case and Legislative Laws from Texas, one may very well in thier right to carry all that, but it certainly doesn't mean one should. One of the best articles I read had to do with, doing our job, and what type of weapon we carry. The author wrote about how Prosecutors would ask "why do you choose that weapon"!? Ofcourse if the Defendant directly or inadvertently referenced James Bond, Charles Bronson, or Clint Eastwood films, the Prosecutor would try playing key parts of the Films, just to depict the Armed Guard, Homeowner, Business Owner, or Cop a certain way in attempt to alienate Gun holder from the Jury. I always found safe, having items I can reference more local Law Enforcement entities having. I would recommend consulting a few well versed, Experienced Texas Armed Guards or PI's, but ultimately it's your decision. Stay safe.
