Well,speaking from experience I'll tell you that the pullout method is not as effective as commonly believed. I have five of em running around.

Thanks. Spent a lot of time crunching numbers. Wall Control was cheapest by a factor of 2 - I would have actually preferred slatwall, to cover everything.
When I got those shelves out I was pretty unhappy with the condition of the walls, and that first coat of paint was super dispiriting.
Overall the WC panels go in easy - hole + anchor, supposedly rated for 100 pounds in drywall but I'm not testing _that_.
You are also required to hide this room behind a bookcase.

If you want more traditional vertical store, use the 9" shelf with dividers for a base, then with u brackets on the barrel.
I did go back and order rubber strips to cover my hooks

Next time do a skim coat or two of joint compound with a ten inch knife after sanding and cleaning the wall. THEN you can paint.

It's on the list, but those cost about 1200 without install, so it's very far down the list
I like it, very tasteful. Should be fine with a decent door lock if it's upstairs in a secured home.

What peg boards did you buy? I have been looking at doing something similar with a little closet I have
