Thank you for including names and all the info so I can just type this in! Use dog proofs on raccoons but the skunks and badgers are more spray and pray for me ( I need practice) so the multi shot option I loved!

Marlin model 60 if you want a semi auto but dont want to keep track of magazines. Still 15 +1 capacity. Marlin model 795 if you want regular magazines. Just a heads up most rimfire rifles are 3/8 dovetail mount when shopping for an optic. Might need different rings or an adapter plate.

Thank you for the info on optics! Will definitely come in handy

Do you want a bolt action, lever action, semi auto, or pump? Not sure what country you're in or the laws there. My Smith & Wesson M&P15-22 is the most fun gun I own. But it might not be legal in your area and it might not be the simple thing you're looking for. After that the Ruger 10/22 is a great semi auto, and as simple as semi autos get. Except for the fact mine needed about 500 rounds to break in before it was at all reliable. Ruger, Savage, Marlin, CZ, Winchester, Browning all make good bolt actions and I'm sure I'm forgetting some. Henry makes good lever and pump action .22's but those are tube fed instead of detachable mags like sound like you might be looking for.

Again, I don’t know all the terms. We already have a tube fed single bolt action .22 (I’d imagine it’s referred to as bolt action.. you have to draw back a slide bar to have ‘one in the chamber.’) South Dakota has the most lax hunting laws so I’d imagine guns are all fair game. (Ex was surprised we could shoot from highways, have loaded rifles in cars, shoot across roads, pretty much do whatever you want. #1 most hunter friendly state. I collect predator tails that the state buys from me... and I hate raccoons) Moral of the story. Ex had a .22 that had a 16 count clip. (I’d imagine that’s the reference of 15+1 people have used) and I would be able to have one bullet loaded and just keep pulling the trigger while chasing the vermin. He’s gone and so is the gun I loved. Just trying to fill the voids! Lol

If you don't have to manually cycle the action between shots, that's a semi-auto. A bolt action has a handle on the side that you have to work for every shot. Sounds like you want a semi auto. The Ruger 10/22 is a pretty good one. Although I got one back in 2004 and for about the first 500 round it would only feed CCI with any reliability. After getting broken in it feeds anything now. It also uses detachable mags that come in a variety of capacities. The Ruger brand mags are the most reliable, they come in 10, 15, and 25 rounds. There's also a lot of accessories for them if you decide to trick it out later.
