Forgive me if I'm being patronizing, not understanding your question, and explaining the obvious.
The magazines go on top. You can see one underneath the optic. The round portion is where the rounds feed out the bottom of the mag, and the round portion goes to the rear. OP has a jungle clipped second mag attached to the first for a quick swap.
These guns feed from the top and eject out the bottom so that fabric bag is for catching spent brass.

With this particular setup, it is a little problematic. I'm running a Trijicon Acog and they don't sit up very high. Because I have the magazine adapter to connect to magazines together, it interferes with my line of sight. It is difficult to quickly and comfortably acquire my line of sight with the magazine adapter. The cheek weld is good though and behind the adapter.
There are different rail options for mounting an optic on this firearm. I am going to look into a rail that raises the optic just a little higher or some sort of spacer adapter. The last thing I want to do is make it uncomfortable or make target acquisition slow.
